The grass always looks greener on the other side of the street. One day you walk across the street...and notice that it is painted green.

They are on the list of artists for one of those multi-artist Christmas things. It's for a pop variety station and obviously all the artists are pop. So I'd say they are a done deal moving away from country.

They've had some other recent holiday appearances where they are being introduced as "country" group TBP. Hard to say intent going by song style for a Christmas song but fwiw I did see the mandolin out in one of the video clips

To be fair, it was a less than favorable live clip...but apparently it's only going to get worse before it gets better.

Also here's a video of "In It Together" that isn't just the chorus... and it sounds like Kimberly is rapping?!

I just saw their show at the Orlando House of Blues tonight, and they played a few new songs, including 'Live Forever'. The new stuff was really good, but it's all decidedly not country (from what I remember, each song was pretty anthemic with heavy bass). The crowd went crazy for them, though.

Good to know people in Orlando enjoy their new Radio Disney sound/act, I've heard of a few fans in their Cali show that were not here for it. Still, I'll be waiting to see if that "crazy" support translates into album sales, as do the Perry siblings. Don't let Radio Disney TBP flop ya'll!

There's no reason to be a smart ass. And the music was not 'Radio Disney'; pop music doesn't automatically equate teenybopper garbage, despite what you may think.

There's no reason to be a smart ass. And the music was not 'Radio Disney'; pop music doesn't automatically equate teenybopper garbage, despite what you may think. There's plenty pop artists I love, I know pop music is not all teenybopper. However TBP's new songs are very teenybopper garbage to me. What you said is bass sounds like recycled 90s boyband music, which could be ok if the lyrics weren't atrocious. Full of simplicity, no story telling, no maturity, nothing important to say, repetitive... it would be fine if this wasn't a group that has produced songs with amazing quality regarding lyrics. Their sound did stand out, but the lyrics was what made them unique... now it's like they ran out of good lyric ideas. If they want to make pop music that's all fine but that's no excuse to drop the quality of their work and get lazy with the lyrics. I'm sure if they put the effort of making good pop music even country radio would play it. At this point in their careers and considering how old their are, the kind of music they're making is embarrassing. And yes, I do side eye everyone over the age of 18 that thinks these new songs have quality... but hey to each its own. Grady Smith's tweets perfectly showcase what I mean.

Re: one of the tweets posted above, I confess that I'm not up to date on what the "suburban soccer mom" set is into these days. But to the extent that generalizations of their taste are appropriate, I'm afraid I don't see how they would naturally gravitate toward The Band Perry's current music. In any event, I moved the three most recent posts in this thread (all from today) to the Country News & Non-Singles Discussion thread. I know that we have allowed this thread to host an ongoing discussion of The Band Perry's new direction for a while now and so I get why those posts were made here. But at this point, "Live Forever" hasn't been relevant from a country chart perspective for over a month and a half, and I'm personally at the point of finding Trainwreck Watch (understandable though it is) wearying and bit depressing. As staff, we try to strike a balance between allowing substantive criticism and enabling an environment in which negativity festers long-term, and I guess I'm at the point where I think it's appropriate to draw a line. Maybe more to the point, I also don't feel like we need a thread for a long-recurrent single to be bumped up time after time in order to discuss developments that pretty clearly aren't going to have anything to do with the country chart for the time-being, since the new material is being performed at shows for stations on other formats. So I'm going to ask that, until such time as The Band Perry and Republic Nashville make moves designed to cater to the country market, further Band Perry discussion either be taken to the Country News & Non-Singles Discussion thread (linked above) or to an album era thread for The Band Perry in the Artists Discussion, A-J Forum (I don't believe one exists yet, so feel free to start one). Thanks very much.

Completely agree. I was actually wondering when we'd all move on from this thread as any and all new postings have had nothing to do with "Live Forever." I was actually going to post something just like that about a week ago, but alas I just figured the time would soon come.

Seriously what the heck is going on with The Band Perry this isn't even funny. I won't be surprised to see them dropped or just like anything anymore nothing will surprise me. The Band Perry better hope they have a song that radio and fans will embrace as I think even fans of The Band Perry saw "Live Forever" as not them. I think they really alienated a lot of their original fan base.

I hope this means they saw the light and by removing this video and song they're removing the "We're Gonna Be Bananas!" era from their resumΓ©. Maybe I'm being too optimistic?

I really want to see what TBP are going to say about this whole mess. This is going to be difficult to recover from.

I really want to see what TBP are going to say about this whole mess. This is going to be difficult to recover from. How do you, after making an announcement that the album was delayed, come to your fans to tell them "yeah... the lead single has pretty much been deleted from the internet, at least some of you have a copy on your phones"... Seriously I can't believe the mess that is going to be that announcement, and very humiliating too. I can't imagine how embarrassing that must be. Something has got to be happening with the label. Either they're leaving BMLG or they're leaving Republic Nashville. But since RN is inside BMLG and they're going as far as to remove the song I'm starting to think they're dunzo with BMLG. It could be that they're just rebranding and moved on from the Bananas era, but I have seen no signs of them losing interest in being pop tarts... I'll be seriously shocked if they get back to their country selves now. And the song is gone from itunes too apparently. It's really being erased!

This is legitimately hilarious that they're trying to erase "Live Forever" from everywhere. (full disclosure, I actually do enjoy this song.) I just remembered that some days ago, all three of them had retweeted/reposted this and it seems that they've also undone those retweets/reposts since then. https://www.instagram.com/p/BBQFfs0sK_o

Wow. I think they want to pretend it never happened.
But we know. We all know.
Seems there are screws loose in the big machine.

Normally I'd be against bumping a thread for a song that's long been recurrent, but given that this is a really unique (read: "bizarre") situation and that recent TBP-related discussion has cycled back to "Live Forever" and its removal from iTunes, Amazon, YouTube, streaming services, etc, I've moved all "Live Forever"-related posts back to this thread. I think that, for historical purposes, its best to have this info in the "Live Forever" thread. I may choose to lock this thread if/when discussion moves away from "Live Forever" or ceases all together. And just a reminder: general TBP discussion should still take place either in the Artist Discussion forum (if there's not an "album 3" thread for The Band Perry there, then someone can start one if you so choose) or in the country sub-board, preferably the News & Non-Singles compilation thread.

Wish they'd go away. Loved "You Lie" but have not been a fan of anything since.
Seriously, is anyone aware of anyone removing songs like this before?

Well... "Live Forever" was the least of this new era's problems. It was an non-event song in my opinion, but deleting it just because it flopped doesn't really make much sense to me.
I just hope this means they are scrapping the whole "new concept" they came up for the 3rd album and are going back to their old sound. As a fan, I would love if that was the case... I would be even willing to pretend that whole "coach song" mess never happened! LOL

Interesting that their Twitter page still has the pinned tweet at the top of their page with a link to "Live Forever" on iTunes (which now of course says item not available).
I'm sure we'll see something from them on their Twitter or a statement of some kind announcing what's ahead (and a scrubbing of "Live Forever" from their social network pages).

What a mess this has turned into.
I sure hope they can recover from this. While I don't agree with trying to "erase" the song and pretend like it never happened, hopefully they have realized what a bad decision this direction was in the first place.

This is just odd. It's a move that seems to contradict the effort this group has made over the past six months to promote this new musical direction they decided to go. My best guess is that they did not get a good response from the people in radio...like, at all. Usually labels and management will change up their initial plans if the reaction from radio is not good and the fact that "Live Forever" bombed and they haven't been heard from since, other than the horrifying live performances leads me to think that the label has advised them to take a step back and regroup, which was even more reinforced by the attempt to make "Live Forever" go away. I think they're still with BMLG but even that was up in the air with the fact they were absent from the Republic Nashville ad this past week.
I don't know for sure what's going on behind the scenes but I do know that whatever their next move is, it could be a career one.

Radio Disney was playing this song a lot for a long time, but what is the backstory about the group in general?
