I wonder if this'll get the airplay Reba's got for Going Out Like That. I mean the stations that'll play it.
Anyway looking forward to this.

Yay, I am so excited to see what happens with this second Nash Icon single! Honestly, I thought Martina would have music ready before Ronnie, so this is a nice surprise! Will this perform similarly to "Going Out Like That", or will it be given minimal attention? Reba was definitely still a much bigger radio star than Ronnie when she moved to Nash Icon, but then again her star power could have nothing to do with her success if it is coming mostly from spins that are guaranteed due to Nash Icon's affiliation with Cumulus... Only time will tell!

One of my all time favorite country voices. Ronnie has a unique way of painting a picture of a song with his vocal tone, dynamics and lyrical delivery. I cannot WAIT to hear this song.

Ronnie's last project (which only hit Boot Barn and digital) was recorded a long time before it hit those markets. -- E.T.A: More info on the single: roughstock.com/?p=36344

I am excited for this. I love Brooks & Dunn and I loved Ronnie's second solo album from last year.

I like this. The lyrics seem a little bland but the production is subtle and Ronnie's voice is great. I hope this receives some good radio airplay - a top thirty would be nice to see at minimum.

Ronnie Dunn could sing the alphabet or phone book and I would listen. This song did not disappoint at all. I hope this song does well on the charts.

On first listen I like this song a great deal. I enjoy the concept of the song I don't find the lyrics to be that bland. Ronnie sounds great as ever too.
I don't see this doing much beyond the top 40 in all honesty. Like I mentioned before in the "Going Out Like That" thread though, we've never seen NASH Icon singles on country radio before Reba's song and the situation of one radio conglomerate spinning the living crud out of a song, while others (iHeartMedia, CBS) try their best to ignore it for as long as possible, is just weird to see. Reba is arguably the greatest female country singer of our time, while no offense to Ronnie, he isn't considered the greatest male country singer of our time; although I (and many) do think his voice is among the best in the business.
We also can't forget the spat he had with iHeartMedia (then Clear Channel; in 2013), which pretty much ended any chance he would get a big hit on country radio anymore. I don't think many, if any iHeartMedia stations will play Ronnie's music anymore. There's also his age factor. The Cumulus stations will obviously support this single and his album.
This song is plenty radio-friendly enough, so that won't be the problem here. It should be interesting to see how Ronnie's time at Nash Icon goes.

As with most of Ronnie's solo work, I'm not a fan. I don't think the lyrics are bland... I just think the song is. Maybe it will grow on me though.
"How Far To Waco" is really the only song from his solo career that I remember liking.

I enjoyed most of Ronnie's past solo singles...except for "Let The Cowboy Rock", which I thought was one of the worst singles of 2012.

I like this a lot. Sounds like it couldn't been a big hit for Brooks & Dunn a decade ago. Ronnie definitely has on of my favorite voices in the genre. If it has similar success to Reba's new song then I'll be happy.

Picking up stations and spins:
KENNY CHESNEY Save It For A Rainy Day 6 77 RONNIE DUNN Ain't No Trucks In Texas 6 51 BLAKE SHELTON Gonna 2 51 CHRIS YOUNG I'm Comin' Over 2 20 ALAN JACKSON Jim And Jack And Hank 1 20
I'm just wondering if Nash Icon can promote the debut single for Ronnie Dunn while at the same time promote the second Reba McEntire single.

I'm just wondering if Nash Icon can promote the debut single for Ronnie Dunn while at the same time promote the second Reba McEntire single. Nash Icon doesn't have a promotion team. Reba's song was promoted by Valory. Ronnie (like Reba) is basically guaranteed to get added by all Cumulus stations (not just the Nash Icon ones, but the regular Nash ones as well). Beyond that it's hard to say. Maybe one of the Big Machine promo teams (Big Machine, Valory, Republic, or Dot) will pick this up and see if they can get any non-Cumulus stations to play it. A few might do so of their own accord, but most of them will probably have to be 'worked' by Big Machine. I think Reba's 2nd single will do just fine, assuming that it'll also be promoted by Valory. If a BMLG promo team picks up "Ain't No Trucks In Texas", it most likely won't be Valory, so it's not like Reba and Ronnie will be competing with each other, unless for some reason the Cumulus stations decide that they can only spin one Nash Icon single at a time (in high rotation, that is).

It will be interesting to see just how much airplay Ronnie can get on non-Cumulus stations. I mean, I'm sure his feud with iHeartMedia and his comments about corporate country radio haven't been forgotten but even without that, Ronnie just isn't as big a name as Reba is, so I can't see as many non-Cumulus stations jumping aboard for this single. I'm sure some independently owned stations will add this one without issue and perhaps a couple Townsquare and CBS stations, but the majority won't and I think that the spins "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" gets on the Cumulus stations will determine how high this song can get.
I'm sure Nash Icon knows the realistic goals this single faces, so who knows what plan they have in base for promoting this. The Play Mpe press release said the label was "Big Machine Records", so maybe the Big Machine team will be in charge of handling promotion duties.

Valory is now on board with this one for promotion outside of the Cumulus block. If it can get the result that Reba got, I think that'd be a fine result but it may do better.

I'm lucky enough to have a local station that is playing this daily and I have to say it sounds so good coming out of the radio in my truck. This song sounds like classic Brooks & Dunn material from 90's and Ronnie sounds as good as ever on this. This song is just another example of why country radio needs to have two formats.

To nobody's surprise, "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" is getting a massive amount of airplay on Cumulus stations. Ronnie's song is in medium rotation on nearly every one. Westwood One is spinning "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" as well, which has accounted for over 3.2 million of this song's MB audience and that's enough to place Ronnie at #51 on the MB chart this week.
I fully expect this song to get bumped into heavy rotation in the coming weeks, which should be enough to get Ronnie to the cusp of the top 40. The only way Ronnie gets any higher is if outside Cumulus stations help him out. "Going Out Like That" had some shaky weeks once it hit the top 40 but Reba was able to get some adds in the nick of time and she was able to eclipse the top 30 (that and the fact the Cumulus stations were relentless in keeping her in heavy rotation). Seeing the start of Ronnie's chart run, I think that this is how most of these Nash Icon singles will end up doing on the charts -- breaking the top 40 but not much more than that, and getting spun like crazy on Cumulus owned stations.

Man this is a fantastic song. Really radio-friendly. I've gotta hand it to Reba and Ronnie with their debut singles for Nash Icon sounding like slam dunk radio hits. His only other solo single I was able to fully get into was "Cost of Livin'" but I've always enjoyed his voice immensely as part of B&D, and I'm really loving this one. Very catchy and strong lyrically, melodically, and vocally. It'd be a great victory for this song if it could at least perform on par with "Going Out Like That." I certainly enjoy it very much and given that I heard GOLT quite a few times on radio, I'm looking forward to possibly hearing this one a decent amount.

"And there ain't a cow in Texas, and Wheaties ain't for breakfast…"
In all seriousness, I think that the production is very loud and clunky, and Ronnie's voice sounds a bit thinner and more weathered. (His pipes have aged better than Strait's, though.) Other than that, I think this is a well-written, melodic, memorable tune that fits Ronnie's style very well.

I enjoy this song by Ronnie. It brings back memories of the times when Brooks & Dunn were the king of duo's in country music.

Ronnie is getting zero love from iHeartMedia and CBS stations right now as the only non-Cumulus stations that have added "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" into regular rotation have been independently owned (just 21 total stations overall -- although Westwood One is helping Ronnie out).
Valory picked up promotion for this song about three weeks ago and so far there hasn't been much luck. This single is having a much harder time getting adds than Reba's "Going Out Like That" did at the month mark of being released.

although Westwood One is helping Ronnie out I'm sure you know this, but Westwood One is owned by Cumulus :) I wish I liked this song more than I do. He's just listing a bunch of stuff that obviously isn't true...it's like the writers tried to present it as clever songwriting, but it's far from it. "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" has a similar theme to King George's "Ocean Front Property", but the songwriting of OFP is way better than this. That said, this isn't a bad song. I do wish the production was a bit more country -- I've only heard it a few times so maybe I missed a few instruments, but mostly it seems like it's just electric guitars, and I was hoping there'd be some steel mixed in there. Not a bad song from Ronnie, but I really feel like the writers could have done a lot better here. I think they were on to something, but to me it feels that they settled for something overly simple and tried to simplify a topic/theme when they could've gone much deeper.

although Westwood One is helping Ronnie out I'm sure you know this, but Westwood One is owned by Cumulus :) I guess I never think of them as a real station since their audience is drastically higher than any other song on the MB panel. Worded that wrong. :) Just like "Going Out Like That", this song's audience levels are ridiculously high for the airplay. Craig Campbell's song "Tomorrow Tonight" has been spun 330 more times the past seven days but "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" has more than twice the audience, lol. I know Reba's the bigger name but perhaps those past comments (which I'm sure Ronnie still backs) about corporate country radio hasn't been forgotten? I like this song and I'm happy there is new music from the likes of Ronnie, Reba, Martina, etc. but I never was comfortable with a label partnering with a radio corporation like Cumulus. Perhaps it's an unpopular opinion but if I had to choose, I might choose Nash Icon never existing.

"Ain't No Trucks In Texas" has gotten exactly zero adds the past two week and is on just 21 monitored MB stations. Basically, country radio is ignoring this one outside of Cumulus.
Reba's first Nash Icon single was helped out some by outside Cumulus stations which provided a boost to reach the top 40 and eventually the top 30 but this one is getting no love so far.
