I wonder if they will release a fifth single or not. If they do release, I hope it is 'DJ Tonight'. I'm sure this will be it for the era. I imagine they have to have some new music ready to go either already or coming up soon now that it's been two years since the release of Rewind. This is what I posted in the "Upcoming Singles" thread last summer. "I Like The Sound Of That" will end up being the final single from Rewind. If Rascal Flatts aren't quite ready for another album, I'd say it's time to release a greatest hits CD with a couple of 'new' (read reject) songs on it. It will bide them some time and get some killer material for album #4 for Big Machine Records.

It looks like Rascal Flatts is ready to get their #1 with this song two weeks later.

Am I the only one who is surprised that this song has re-gained their momentum. I mean yeah this song is radio friendly and all that, but I never thought this song would possibly be in serious contention for a #1 spot.

Don't forget how this song got a huge start due to whatever deal they seemingly made with the Cumulus block. That significantly increased this one's chances.

Without that start, I doubt this would have made the top 20. Still, I'm shocked that this is in the running for #1.

I know but it still seemed like given their lack of momentum leading up to this song, I expected this to die out in the teens to be honest.

Don't forget how this song got a huge start due to whatever deal they seemingly made with the Cumulus block. That significantly increased this one's chances. They didn't have that big of a start. This one debuted at #40 on Billboard with 3.25 million audience impressions, which was only an increase of 2.382 million from the previous week. That's a strong debut, but it's hardly what I'd call a huge debut, especially in this era of hourly airplay from iHeartMedia stations. All that really happened here was that the Cumulus block auto-added this song right away, and then other stations were swayed to add this one early because it was such a young song and was already top 40. That's (unforunately) how a lot of country stations program their playlists...they look at the national airplay charts, and if they see a song that's moving up rather quickly or got off to a good start, then they decide to add it, too. My guess is that the #40 debut for ILTSOT probably accelerated the song's chart run by about 4-6 weeks. If this song had moved at a pace of about 5 weeks slower, it would probably be in the 10-15 range right now. Eliminating the few weeks that they would have spent in the 40's and 50's definitely helped, but I think they would have still probably peaked in or close to the top 10 anyway.

It looks more than likely that "I Like The Sound Of That" will be peaking at #2. As I don't think this song will be able to hang in there much longer. I guess Big Machine could do next week a split #1 with I Like The Sound Of That getting BB and "Confession" getting MB but I doubt they do that.
Another interesting thing I noticed is that after this week we're going to have 3 of the Top 4 songs dropping down more than likely as "You Should Be Here" will likely give up after 3 weeks at the top, already mentioned Rascal Flatts and Chase Bryant push week was this week so he's going to be a hard faller as well.

I don't think so. I predict Chase Bryant will be peaking at #2 on MB and #3 on BB this week and fall next week. Cole Swindell will still be #1 on both chart this week and fall next week. And Rascal Flatts will be #3 on MB and #2 on BB this week than climb to #1 on both chart next week.

Florida Georgia Line "Confession" will be getting a push next week and that song is on the same label as Rascal Flatts so the best "I Like The Sound Of That" can hope for is a split at the top.

They'll probably try to do a split #1, or else they wouldn't have kept both of these songs afloat so long. They're not gonna just drop this one at the runner-up position for "Confession." There's still a sizable gap between these two songs and the next group of Old Dominion, Chris Young, and Dierks Bentley, so I'm predicting they both hit the top on at least one chart (and one of them may even be a 2-week #1).

Actually I'm working on my chart prediction right now and when I factored out Westwood One, it appears that Cole Swindell and Rascal Flatts are neck and neck with each other. I have doubts that either "Confession" or "I Like The Sound Of That" becomes a 2 week #1. Since Rascal Flatts has spent a good few weeks in the Top 3 (aka power rotation) and the song is way too old to really make into a multi week #1. As for FGL, well I imagine they really want new music out as soon as possible so I doubt either one will be a multi week #1 as I imagine next week Old Dominion, Chris/Cassadee, and Dierks will be getting some major Top 5 conversions and will probably close the gap between them and FGL/Rascal Flatts (provided they're still promoting this next week).

I hear this on the radio so much, and I only listen to country radio every now and then. I've heard it literally every time I've gone to a country station in the past month or two.
The song is okay, but overall, I just have not been interested in Rascal Flatts in a long time. I love their old music and they are one of my favorites, but I don't think I've truly loved a song from them since "Here Come Goodbye".

Rascal Flatts has an outside shot of being #1 on the billboard airplay chart tonight when its released. "I like the sound of that" moved into the #1 spot on Mediabase this morning (Unfortunately for them 1 day late)

"I like the sound of that" moved into the #1 spot on Mediabase this morning (Unfortunately for them 1 day late) I agree with you that there's a decent chance they'll be #1 on tonight's Billboard chart. Regarding Mediabase, though, it doesn't appear as if Big Machine mounted any sort of push this past week. It reads as if they knew Warner Bros. was aiming to keep Cole Swindell's song in max spins and they were content to not force ILTSOT up the chart. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rascal Flatts keep climbing this week and then see Florida Georgia Line move to the #1 spot for the week ending the 24th/25th (which is the weekend after FGL co-hosts Lon Helton's countdown). Of course, it's also possible that today will mark the peak for Rascal Flatts (which would mean either a #2 peak on both charts, or possibly a rare Billboard-only #1). Only time will tell!

#1 on both charts next week? Yes. Cole's falling and nobody is close to Rascal Flatts in spins and audience.

Absolutely obsessed with this song. I'm glad it was able to revive the Rewind era. "Riot" never deserved to stall like it did.

Really good for Rascal Flatts as I never thought it'd hit the top I thought it'd stall in the teens or get lost in the Top 10. I am not a big fan of this song (it sounds pleasant enough but ultimately forgetful as a whole) but they definitely are back on track and hopefully the leadoff single for their next album keeps their momentum up, I'm not quite ready to see Rascal Flatts go, especially since country music right now is kind of lacking in vocal groups.
I decided to look up some of these guys past singles and I actually really found a lot that I loved. "Here Comes Goodbye" "Why Wait" "Take Me There" "Come Wake Me Up" "I'm Moving On" "Praying For Daylight" "I Melt", man there is a lot of their singles that I really am glad I rediscovered.

Nice thing about Rascal Flatts scoring a #1 this time out is on the list of the artists with the most #1s, they will be a non-mover at #45 seeing since the Zac Brown Band recently collected chart topper #13 with Beautiful Drug. Otherwise, I would have to update the #2s list and move them from #28 to #22. Can we get someone else who scored their last chart topper in 2012 another one this year? Love And Theft, anyone?

It's so boring and pointless, same theme that's been done a million times and doesn't attempt to add anything unique to this. If this was a Luke Bryan or Jadon Aldean sing it would be getting ripped to shreds on here. I'm convinced that label politics for this to #1. Your 4th single just doesn't suddenly kickstart things up again after 2 single flops.

Singles off Blue Moon: 1. Don't Make Me Beg-1999-#29 2. Blue Moon-2000-#24 3. The Hunger-2001-#24 4. GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL-2002-#1
