I know a interrupted BB #1 is extremely rare. May I ask the last one? Jimmy Wayne's "Do You Believe Me Now", #1 for the weeks of 9/13 and 9/27/08. Inbetween those two weeks was Brad Paisley's "Waitin' on a Woman".

Kenny Chesney's "Don't Blink" was interrupted in November of 2007 by "Free And Easy (Down The Road I Go)" by Dierks Bentley (Kenny stayed at #1 for six weeks on MB, while only getting five weeks on BB).

But does the panel change affect Billboard at all?

But does the panel change affect Billboard at all? As far as I'm understanding, it was just a Mediabase recalibration and adding of new stations, but I could be wrong.

There may be an audience adjustment, I'm not completely sure on that...but Billboard adds/removes stations on their own prerogative timetable. Mediabase large-scale panel adjustments (adds/removals) don't affect Billboard at all.
Based on what I've noticed from the Pop panels, I'd be inclined to think that sometimes a station or two might be added to both panels at the same time? But if that happens, it's purely coincidental. And if one's removed from both at once, odds are, it's a station that's flipped formats altogether.

But the question is then, Is the adding of stations going to make enough of a difference on BB to sway a #1 in her favor?

There's no guarantee that WAVW (or any other new stations for that matter) has been added to Billboard's panel. It does not matter if the station is added to Mediabase's panel or not - that will ONLY affect that chart, not BB's.

So basically like 50-70 more spins? WAVW has spun it 60 times. This must be a spins and audience record at MediaBase: 3 1 Up this week CARRIE UNDERWOOD Smoke Break 8791 7966 825 63.536

Other than the fact that those stations would already have been counting towards Billboard to begin with, thus there's still no change involved there?

No Billboard #1 for Carrie, again... Such a shame. It couldn't have been easier for Carrie to get to #1, and with Chris already having the #1, I'm not sure what their strategy was here?... They could have easily bumped her up without jeopardizing his chance at a Mediabase #1 next week, so I haven't a clue why they didn't? Smh... I know Mediabase is obviously the chart they care about more, but I still like to see Billboard #1s as they are more commonly referenced in the industry, overall. Oh well, here's to "Heartbeat" hopefully breaking Carrie's Billboard #1 drought!

In fact, Chris gained a lot more. It just isn't going to happen at this point. Furthermore, he's still #1 on the Billboard tracker.

Which is too bad, because she hasn't had a #1 there since "Blown Away

Yeah, Billboard #1s are way more important I think. You can easily check on youtube for example that people keep making Billboard #1s for all genres and never mention Mediabase. The name itself is more recognizable

Didn't we expect CY to gain AIs though because of CCUSA? Plus, we didn't get a thank you tweet from Carrie yet lol. Oh well, another MB #1, BB #2. Still not a bad chart history. Worst charting song on either chart is #3 with SITW and that was a HUGE hit.

But I guess a lot of artist's biggest career songs are some of their lowest charting in terms of airplay - so it doesn't mean all that much in the end. Another #1, though, making her total 22. Pretty amazing!

Sony did exactly what everyone was saying was going to happen. They clearly put the breaks on Smoke Break this morning and moved back over to Chris. She only gained 100k and he gained 600k, plus he has the extra CCUSA spin in his favor. I'm very disappointed in Sony at this point. It's not going to kill them to get her a BB #1, but her top 3 streak continues at least, and it's like people said that if the worst peaking song is #3 with SITW, then there's not much to complain about.

I actually don't take the peak number all that seriously. I look at the peak audience numbers and Carrie Underwood peak audience numbers are definitely #1 worthy. Just rotten timing again since I think Cole Swindell getting the MB #1 caught Sony off guard.

I think if Chris would've gotten the MB #1 over Cole, they would've been satisfied and would've killed I'm Comin' Over and Carrie would've sailed to #1. Just glad she got a #1 on one of the charts.

Sony should've pushed Carrie first for #1 last week for Billboard since she co-hosted CCUSA last weekend and yes let Cole take #1 for Mediabase with "Let Me See Ya Girl" as he did last weekend which then Carrie could take Mediabase this weekend with Chris getting #1 for Billboard with "I'm Comin' Over" for Billboard, which would've been no problem as both artists would both have a #1 to their credit on both charts. If I were the CEO of Sony Nashville, I personally would've had our team push Carrie last weekend for Billboard and yes as I said let Cole take #1 for MB which in turn then we then could turn our focus to Chris the following weekend for his #1 for Billboard with our focus still on Carrie to grab #1 for Mediabase for this current weekend. Sony just focused too much more on Chris and his album release and agree it is not fair to Carrie even we can now call "Smoke Break" a #1 hit for her but just Mediabase ONLY. Hope Sony gets their act together and plan better during "Heartbeat"'s chart run.

Oh well, here's to "Heartbeat" hopefully breaking Carrie's Billboard #1 drought! The label planned this outcome weeks ago, so they could call "Smoke Break" a #1 hit, and also say that Chris Young had a 3 week #1 hit. The extent of chart manipulation these days is just disgusting. Agreed, and I thought Sony was better than that. This is something you'd see from Scott Borchetta and Big Machine.

Well, we all knew it was about label manipulation and that it was dropping off once the Mediabase #1 was secure. It's all ridiculous.
