Why did "SCS" get a bullet on Billboard Airplay this week? If you look towards the bottom of the Billboard issue, you see the legend for how songs are awarded bullets, even if they lose some audience.

"Stone Cold Sober" is done. Down 99 spins today and 704K today. So MB Peak #18 BB Peak #18. This song will spend one final week on MB and will easily be sent recurrent on Billboard.

I really get what they were going for with the "platinum" edition and releasing a single out of the new batch of songs. But this song is about as lifeless as you can get. They could have easily released the platinum edition of the album and put out a song like "17 Again" which in my opinion would have made a more lasting impact on Brantley's career.

Even if they don't release another single, it was a pretty successful album. 2 #1's, a top 10 and a top 20. "17 Again" would've easily been a top 10 hit if they would've released it.

They could have easily released the platinum edition of the album and put out a song like "17 Again" which in my opinion would have made a more lasting impact on Brantley's career. The label (and Brantley) didn't think this was a lifeless single an probably predicted it to fare better. I just think they went for a mid-tempo safe choice for radio and a top 20 peak for another single off this current album (even though it was a re-issued version) is solid for someone like Brantley. I don't think he's at the point where we should expect #1 singles from him every release. It's not great but I don't think this will hurt his momentum. They'll likely come back with another fodder-type song that radio eats up like "Bottoms Up" to lead off his next project.
