BTW I'm not sure how well this'll do on Alternative, especially since Chocolate couldn't get past #29, and this is much more poppy - seems like it's much better for CHR, esp. with the high sales numbers

This is amazing. This puts all their other songs to shame.

Jesus Christ the chorus is "It's Your Thing" re-written. Still, I like this. Their debut record was damn near perfect. I hope their new record follows suit in terms of quality, I love a good modern take on 80s perfection.

But I think they might be one of those groups that migrate from Alternative to CHR, like All-American Rejects and the sort. I hope they release heavier material in the future though, like "Sex."

the chorus is "It's Your Thing" re-written. I really hope they got permission, cause if this gets big they could have a ginormous lawsuit on their hands - especially ripping off a song that's on TV all the time in a SlimFast commercial

This debuts at #100 in the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. (#23 in Digital Songs chart) This will probobly get some Hot 100 action just for the fact that they have charted on that chart before, but I can name about 15 more songs on Alt chart that would improve that HOT 100 chart as well and wouldn't sound outta place at all.

adding 75 spins & jumping 8 spots in just 1 day? that's crazy! even if only adds 40 spins a day going forward, i think this is a shoe-in to make the top 10

The easiest way to win me over is to unabashedly turn back the clock to the 80's.
Well played, The 1975. Well played.

This is decent, but all of their singles last album were better. Much, much better IMO. It has grown on me but it still doesn't come close to anything on their debut.

Anyone else think it's weird that they named themselves The 1975 and most of their singles sound like they're from 1985

Their fanbase is relatively boy-bandish, from what I've seen. Teen girls love them. Surprised Alt is still playing them, although recently one could argue Alt is trying to appeal to them

That video was beyond awesome. Exactly the type I like to watch to bring the song to life. He shoulda been surrounded by cutouts of Jim Morrison, Michael Hutchence and Stephen Pearcy(RATT). That woulda really confused the viewers.

Title of their next album is "I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It". Should be out by Q1 next year.

Hmmmm.. That's a long album title. Well, at least it isn't as long as Fiona Apple's 2012 album, "The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do"

Who could forget about "The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or from Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard' Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won" by Chumbawumba?
