The first single shouldn't have been OMM, it's pretty weak

Not really that surprised about the performance of this song, unfortunately. Not sure if my favorite on the album (i.e. Army) would have fared any better but this is still my least favorite on the album. lol that would have flopped big time actually

Well...this is disappointing. This is by far the best single choice and they're doing absolutely nothing to justify that. Why did this get a tour video? Why did this not get any promo yet? Like...they're doing literally nothing when this could've been MASSIVE!
Unless this gets a second wind just in time when Ellie comes to the US for her tour, it looks like they dropped the ball completely on this one. Such a shame...

It took too long for the second single to drop, even though Xmas was in the way, and that killed much of the momentum. There's just nothing about this to be excited over. I love me some Ellie but I'm more or less over the album now. I'd say start prep for single #3 now and push it with some real effort. Maybe even a fun remix or something.

I don't really think they waited too long. "On My Mind" peaked in the last week of December, and "Something In The Way You Move" was on the chart two weeks later, while that was still at #7 might I add. There was debate over what the second single would be, but that happened during the freeze, when almost no songs are released anyway.
But regardless, the issue is sales. The people buying songs don't care how long the label waited between singles. If they like a song, they'll buy it. The "wait" would have affected radio momentum, but radio has treated this one just fine. It was Top 20 in a month. But you can only take a song so far if the public doesn't care for it.

On My Mind took too long to peak at radio. I think it would have been better to push a second single in some way even though OMM was still slowly rising.

I don't think they should give up on this yet. Has she even performed it in the US? Get her on Ellen and a discount on iTunes, then hope radio picks up again

IMO they f**ked up by waffling with the US single choice. I was a little pissed they killed off 'Army' when it was gaining a lot of momentum on its own. Had they left 'Army' to do what it was going to do, it may have been doing a lot better than this currently is. It's not that I particularly like 'Army' over this, but why screw with something that's working?

I'm not a huge Ellie fan. Typically it takes me ages to get into her songs. This latest cd by her I instantly liked. However "Army" is one of my least favorites on there. I really like "Don't Need Nobody" but the chorus probably isn't considered the greatest by some. It seems like a decent amount of her fans on here don't want another song where the same line is just repeated during the chorus.

What I thought differentiated her from other pop artists was that her songs used to have more depth and a less generic pop sound. Since Burn I feel she's becoming more and more fluffy and this is no exception. I'm not liking this album as much as the previous.

This album is probably her weakest one so far, but this song is really good, maybe if she somehow does some promo it could at least reach top 10.
Army is decent, but it shouldn't be a single in the US.

You see, for me it was always her voice that would put her in a different group of pop singers. I just love her distinctive and unique voice.

Her voice is definitely an asset, but I do agree that when paired with the generic sound that encompasses most of the album, it's less of a standout.

Her voice used to shine more against the undertones of her first singles, Lights, Starry Eyed, Anything Could Happen, Figure 8... all have a depth that made her come across as a refreshing pop singer.

Like OMM, this really jumped out of the gate and suddenly hits a big wall. Test scores? Lack of promotion?

I think lack of promotion is the main problem This. And couple it with radio seeming to be leaning toward a slightly more urban sounding pop. The more pure, radio ready pop just isn't where they wanna go rn.

I think lack of promotion is the main problem I'm going to agree with this simply because didn't this have a boost from something a couple of weeks ago? There was definitely a response to it from somewhere. But it seems that radio is the only thing driving this currently, and that simply isn't enough. My point being: If anything else past this is just going to get the exact same treatment, then they need not even bother.
