Debuted at #39 on the AT40. Nicki hasn't had at least 7 songs chart? That's surprising.

Debuted at #39 on the AT40. Nicki hasn't had at least 7 songs chart? That's surprising. Yeah I'm calling BS on this. Iggy's seven are most likely "Fancy", "Problem", "Black Widow", "Beg For It", "Trouble", "Pretty Girls", and "Team", which includes features. That leaves Nicki with "Your Love", "Check It Out", "Moment 4 Life", "Super Bass", "Fly", "Starships", "Pound The Alarm", "Va Va Voom", "Anaconda", "Bang Bang", and "Truffle Butter". That's 11 songs without features. Adding features, she also has "Bottoms Up", "2012 (It Ain't The End)", "Letting Go (Dutty Love)", "Where Them Girls At", "Dance (A$$)", "Turn Me On", "Give Me All Your Luvin'", "Girl On Fire", "Beauty And A Beat", "Hey Mama", and "Back Together" as possibilities. That's another 11 songs for a total of 22. And they said "extends her record" too, so that means they aren't even crediting her to 6 songs. Lol you f**ked up AT40.

I'm not a huge Nikki fan but I side eyed that comment about Iggy and AT40 as well.

"Truffle Butter" is Nicki's song from The Pinkprint. Drake and Lil Wayne are the features.

Now a days the Ft or duet or who gets credit for what can be very blurry.

She's working the hell out of this single with all these performances & radio interviews. I wish more artists/labels would do this instead of giving up so quickly.

It is weird to still see radio giving her such a hard time for being a white rapper at the same time that they sent the equally fake G-Eazy all the way to #1 on multiple formats.

Maybe they're discounting Nicki's non-rap songs like "Starships" and "Turn Me On"?

It is weird to still see radio giving her such a hard time for being a white rapper at the same time that they sent the equally fake G-Eazy all the way to #1 on multiple formats. I'm positive that has nothing to do with it. If they really had a problem with her being a white rapper, her first two pop releases would not have been #1 hits. And "Beg For It" was given a great start until it became clear that people didn't like it. By the time "Trouble" came around, Iggy became a joke and people started hating her, so that never had a chance. So I'm not surprised they've been hesitant with this, especially when sales haven't been great. And as I've said in a past post, rappers don't reach the Top 10 on pop anymore without pop singers on the hook (unless you're Flo Rida, but yeah). And "Me, Myself & I" never even touched Urban radio, so I don't see anything to complain about there. He sent a pop-rap to #1 on pop ans rhythmic, two formats where it made sense for the song to be #1.

Me Myself & I is much better than this (better rapping, better lyrics, better chorus)...
Charli XCX's chorus and bridge (as well as the absurdly great beat) made Fancy. Rita Ora's voice/hook played a huge role in Black Widow. Iggy is competent as a singer, but let's not pretend her voice isn't a huge downgrade from the singing on her biggest hits.
Also. What's with the assumption that all songs need to shoot into the Top 10 or higher? Don't some songs have to peak in the 11-30 range in order for the Top 10/Top 5/Top 1 to mean something? Justin Bieber's latest single is peaking at #16. Taylor just had two singles peak outside the Top 10. Adele had a song peak outside the Top 10. Katy had some misses on her last album. Radio doesn't have a bias against those people - it's just that some songs are BIG hits and other ones aren't.
It's not like this is dead anyway, it's just that it hasn't been flying up the charts (and it probably won't go to the top). None of the metrics - sales, streams, etc - suggest it *deserves* to be flying up the charts.

Yea, this release isn't comparable to MM&I for many reasons. (Team is much better for me tho, MM&I is kinda beige - well that more typical safe pop/rhythmic-rap/sung combo - and most likely the type of stuff Iggy herself had planned for the scrapped 2nd album with The Invisible Men.)
But I think people liked Beg for It, which is why it went Platinum without an official video being released when it had been planned - which would've probably given it the necessary boost streaming-wise perhaps pushing it top 10 on pop radio idk. That song not having a video along with the reissue being a release of its own (without having all the tracks from TNC) was one of the first mismanagement choices that started killing her momentum. I believe had they done things right she would have still gotten big hits despite the "backlash" anyway.
And rhythmic not supporting this is what's harmed it more than pop radio. It showed potential, but obviously needs more airplay for it to even stand a chance.
