Lol, this song's already in the top 30 on MB and I might have heard it two total times, including today. I can't think of a more unoriginal song out right now than "Drunk On Your Love". I definitely think Brett is an artist who has great vocals and a charismatic persona to go with it but his songs since "Raymond" and "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" have been utterly uninteresting for me.

I just think there was absolutely no effort put into this song it's like the most basic song ever. Remember people mainstream country music can never take two steps forward without going two steps back.
What makes me mad is that Brett Eldredge voice sounds country and yet we get songs sounding R&B like. What a waste of talent.

As uneventful and unoriginal as this song is, its shaping up to be a pretty big hit for Brett, at least his biggest since "Beat Of The Music". I don't have a problem with Brett as a person, but his music is just too plain. Cole Swindell and Frankie Ballard, two peers he will be compared to frequently, actually came back with songs that have emotion and a purpose. Meanwhile Brett has given us back to back fluff that were as generic as can be. There was no reason for Brett to be playing it this safe, he had plenty of momentum and good will with radio.

I am REALLY digging this song! Flat out jam in my opinion. It's one where I just wanna yell the chorus at the top of my lungs, lol

It's sad that Brett had to stoop to this generic crap. He had some really great singles off his debut. The sophomore album is extremely disappointing.

I think this is my favorite single of his to date. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Yeesh...I finally heard this one and I have no idea what Brett was thinking here. I can barely understand a word he's singing in the chorus. The only thing that I could really hear was that he was repeating the same few words, and stretching the syllables out over multiple notes, from lower notes to higher notes. All I know is that it sounds really bad.
I was fortunate enough to hear Brett's debut album (no, not Bring You Back...the one I'm talking about, One Way Ticket, was never released, all because "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" stalled outside the top 40), and it was way, way better than Bring You Back and Illinois. The only 3 tracks that I liked on Bring You Back were the only 3 tracks that were carried over from One Way Ticket: "Raymond", "Signs", and "One Mississippi". None of the other songs sounded like the Brett I was first introduced to.
The song "One Way Ticket" was later recorded by Billy Currington, but the other songs on Brett's original album never saw the light of day.
Brett has a great voice, but I really feel like he's wasting it on boring, generic material. "Drunk On Your Love" is my second least favorite single from Brett, behind only "Don't Ya".

Heard this for the first time tonight too. How generic. I like Brett enough, but nothing that he's released as a single has really made me a fan of his music. This is the epitome of generic and boring to me.

I'm really surprised by how well it's doing on the sales front. It's in the mid-50s on iTunes right now and it's ahead of most of the songs that are around it on country radio (except for Cole Swindell)...
I'm starting to come around to this song after being underwhelmed by it ever since the album came out (I'm still underwhelmed...) The chorus is very easy to sing along to (could be one of the reasons why it's doing so well) and catchy.

This one's starting to be played far more often the past couple weeks on the stations I listen to and it's an instant dial turner. I find it hard to not laugh when Brett hits that chorus. I'm not saying there aren't many songs on country radio that are unoriginal but this one's lyrics are so unoriginal, it's comical.

Were there any performances or something that spiked the sales for this one?

I have to be honest, I just looked this song up out of curiosity for the first time. Let's just say I am now purging my system to Reba #1s...

Up to #29 on iTunes All-Genre chart now. I think this will become Brett's biggest hit so far. It also seems to be one of his more quicker moving singles.

I was actually just looking for this thread but couldn't find it...that's because you posted right when I went looking for it, lol. This is definitely a big hit and is moving up very fast. Its actually at the same position on MB (#19) at the 68 day mark that "Lose My Mind" was but "Drunk On Your Love" has 300 more spins and over 1.0 million more in total audience than "Lose My Mind" -- plus it's selling better, by about 50 all-genre iTunes positions. I don't like this song but it appears that I'm in the minority. I don't see his label moving away from generic stuff like his past few singles since that is what's working for him right now at radio. I hope Brett can at least sprinkle in a story song like "Raymond" in the future, every once in a while, but I'm thinking most of his releases will be like this song.

Wow, not much buzz on this one for as well as it's doing. Been a while since the last post. I'm not really into this one. I much prefer Brett to be more organically produced. You lose all the richness in his voice with this production. The chorus sounds like he's singing through a cheap harmonizer.

I just saw the video for the first time today...it's basically the same exact idea from the "Size Matters (Someday)" video by Joe Nichols...with Joe's song being light-years better than Brett's. Also, what's with the unnecessary credits at the end? Yes, we know Brett played the Florist, and the cop, and the chef, and the taxi driver...I thought we were at least getting some sort of blooper reel.

This is one of the worst songs I've heard on the radio in awhile. Like, I really can't fully express in words how truly grating and annoying I think this garbage is. I don't understand how more people aren't totally put off by this one; to me, it makes "Said No One Ever" by Jana Kramer look like a masterpiece. The chorus is just so irritating and sounds like it was recorded mid-seizure.

I don't understand why we have to bash songs so much. We get it... you don't like it, but it doesn't mean you have to call it garbage. Just saying... I personally can't stand Jana Kramer, but you don't see me going around saying that it sounds like her song was recorded mid-seizure.. good grief.

Yeah, there are artists I can't stand and many songs I hate that I keep my mouth shut about and change the station on. Idk why others can't do the same.

I don't hate this but I definitely don't like it. The chorus is somewhat irritating and there's nothing particularly memorable, although I do like the opening music. Brett's voice sounds pretty good in the verses, but this isn't the vocal showcase that he should be recording.
But when compared to the current songs comparing women to drugs or alcohol ("Beautiful Drug" and "Fix"), this song's a masterpiece.

I don't see the problem with being critical of songs. Why have everything be all nicey nice and all positive. If I hear a song that I don't like than guess what, I'm going to say how I feel. I seriously don't care if people don't like the artists I do and if they wanna be vocal about their opinion, then by all means they should be. I'll disagree with it but I'll respect where they are coming from. If like let's say some posters here don't like Maddie & Tae (which is understandable if you don't) and they say they aren't a fan of their vocals or writing or whatever it is. I might not agree with who says that but I understand that Maddie & Tae aren't everyone's cup of tea and if they wanan post something negative then they can go right ahead, because I don't care what anyone else thinks of any of the artists in country music, all I care about is what I think about whatever artist is.
I just don't see what's so bad about being critical of songs, do you guys seriously get all offended when someone posts something saying they don't like a certain song or artist. I just don't get the problem.

I can express my opinion how ever I please to and you can certainly do the same. I only compared it to the Jana Kramer song because everyone was losing their damn minds over "Said No One Ever" being picked as a single because it's 'annoying,' but I couldn't believe how absolutely annoying the chorus on this song is. Like I am legitimately surprised it has had such a smooth ride up the charts because the chorus on this sounds super grating/polarizing.

One word; Sales "Drunk On Your Love" is in the Top 5 of sales for country songs only behind Maren Morris "My Church", and Cole Swindell "You Should Be Here". Higher sales equals a faster ride usually up the charts, that and the research for this song isn't that bad so there's nothing stopping this one.

I'm just confused that it's selling well and not getting polarizing scores. Obviously if it weren't, then it would've stalled out, but I just don't get the appeal of this one is all. I think all of his singles have been varying degrees of meh to awful aside from his debut single though... but I do think this one is probably the worst so far.

This is a messaging board for people to share their opinions. If people have a right to say this song is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then I have a right to say the opposite. As another poster said in another thread, telling someone to not express their opinion isn't exactly the definition of "conversation", which again, is a big point of these threads.

I think people should be able to express whatever opinions they want, though I will say some of the hate towards these songs is getting more repetitive and generic than the songs themselves.

I think we should go back to discussing "Drunk On Your Love" (whether it'd be positive or negative) and stop questioning posters and their feelings about said song, one way or the other.
