Please let "Illinois" be next. That was the only song with any character on this album. I must have listened to "Fire" about five times and I still can't remember what it's about. The only thing I remember about the Rhett duet is that it's just as bad as everything Rhett releases.
"Illinois" is wonderful, such a great song.

This was a manufactured #1 but we get a lot of them these days. If "Wanna Be That Song" or "Illinois" isn't the next single, I'd be very surprised. The two best songs on the album, by far.

Today's spin gains make things interesting for the BB #1 because if Brett's team keep pushing "Drunk On Your Love" until Sunday, I feel like there is a possibility that Brett could get the BB #1...

Today's spin gains make things interesting for the BB #1 because if Brett's team keep pushing "Drunk On Your Love" until Monday, I feel like there is a possibility that Brett could get the BB #1... Warner Music Nashville is pushing both songs, so they'll get exactly what they want in this scenario. I still think they'll make sure Brett has the Mediabase #1 (which he will) while letting "You Should Be Here" take Billboard. It wouldn't shock me to see Brett take both charts but usually labels would be okay with a split, especially if one of their songs is a huge hit like "You Should Be Here" is. Monday's update is certainly a key day though.

He also performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live back in October. Here's the video. I really wish the album recording resembled the live version. I quite enjoy the live version because it's predominately real instruments/his band and you can hear some programming in the background. Meanwhile, the album recording is all programming, overproduced, and I struggle to hear any real instruments.

"Wanna Be That Song" would be my choice for the next single but I'd love to see "Illinois" get released!

Missed Billboard #1, but still gained spins and audience today. On the other other hand, Cole actually lost about 300k in audience despite a spin gain over 100. I wonder exactly what is going on here.

I wonder exactly what is going on here. I thought the same thing. I was expecting that Brett would start downward today, and so I was surprised that he didn't. It could be that Warner Music Nashville will try to have Brett and Cole flip-flop spots on the charts this week, with Brett moving 2-1 on Billboard but 1-2 on Mediabase, and Cole moving 1-2 on Billboard but 2-1 on Mediabase.

I think that's exactly what they're doing. If Brett doesn't start downward tomorrow, then Warner is gunning for a flip-flop. Then have Cole snag both charts the following week.

This song has been in the top 5 on The Highway forever it seems.
I like the song.

The question I'm wondering is if Big Machine is going to push Flatts to try to get a #1 or will Brett be able to get it next week of they don't push Flatts

Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. Brett did have that small gain on Monday (as seen in the Tuesday morning update), but since then it's become clear that "Drunk On Your Love" is done. Cole will be #1 on both charts on Monday, and Brett has to settle for a #1 MB/#2 BB peak.

Too bad. I was looking forward of adding Brett Eldredge's name to the list of those artists with the most #1s. He would have been the 126th artist in history to score at least five chart toppers.

I'm surprised that this is going to peak at #2 Billboard and #1 Mediabase. I just thought that given how big of a hit this was, I thought it'd for sure hit the top. Crappy timing to say the very least.

Brett wouldn't reveal his next single yet but he did say at the #1 party for "Lose My Mind" that at least two more singles will come from Illinois.

Do you mean "Drunk On Your Love"? No, I didn't. He's running very late on the #1 parties. So I'm assuming he means that there will be two more singles after DOYL, and not 2 more after "Lose My Mind"? The latter would be a pretty obvious statement. I wouldn't expect less than 4 singles this album era anyway since he's having much quicker chart runs.

Yes, after "Drunk On Your Love." He already knew it went #1 before the party for "Lose My Mind." Sometimes these #1 parties happen very late after the fact -- when the artists/songwriters have free time in their schedules.

I wouldn't be so quick to release a song like "Illinois" or "I Wanna Be That Song" if I was Brett's label, going into the summer. Another uptempo with a ballad to close is the way I would go.

Still betting on two more (after DOYL) - He better get that party in before the Keith tour starts! Heck, he might wanna get some writes in too. Gonna be a long, busy summer/fall for him!

At the Ram's Country Concert, Brett said that "Wanna Be That Song" will be his next single on the radio.
