Although it's very early, "Snapback" features what might end up being my least favorite lyric of 2016:
Strictly outta curiosity What would happen if you got with me?

It's a conversational question? I can't speak for zjames, but I find that line to be embarrassingly bad, immature, juvenile, sleazy, etc. Frat boys might talk like that, but that's about it. I think every single friend of mine would slap a guy if he said those lines to any of them in a "conversation".

Yeah, I can't imagine most women thinking too highly of a guy that they don't know asking what would happen if she had sex with him in that kind of a manner. Like what kind of conversational question is that?

Being around college aged guys who some belong to frats (and many who would be called, "bros"), I have never heard any of them use that term to describe sex. I hear it as being together.

The way it is phrased and posed in the song, I don't see it as being about just 'being together.' He would've said "What would happen if we got together?" then, and even then it would just help a little (it'd still be a rather poor choice of words). To say you "got with" someone refers to sex basically every time I've seen/heard it, the same way that "slept with" doesn't mean "we cuddled last night."

Except after those first two lines, the narrator lists all the things they would do together if they got together (and the only sexual one is kissing her skin). The others include: skipping rocks checking herself out in his sunglasses taking selfies together I don't understand why he would start the song by basically saying, "just curious, if me and you had sex, could we then skip rocks together." Edit: Not saying you're wrong, but I just don't get the vibe he is insinuating sex, when the rest of the song really doesn't suggest it.

In my opinion, that line isn't any different than the lyrics in half the stuff on country radio right now.

Song rhyming, etc. it may imply what you want. It may not. Given the verse it's around, I don't find it horrible or obnoxious. But I can understand if someone else does.

I think this is an unoriginal premise elevated by very well crafted lyrics. It's loaded with distinctive phrases like "strictly outta curiosity", and I like the repeated use of internal rhymes (curiosity/got with me/spot with me/rocks with me, heart tonight/apart tonight/start tonight/hard to fight). It's also very tightly produced. I like the driving beat, and how it isn't overly loud.
Also, why all the hate for "whoa oh oh"s? Not every bro song has them, and not every song that has them is automatically bro.

I wouldn't mind the "whoa oh oh's" if it didn't seem like half the freakin' lyrics were comprised of them. This entire song was written because of its catchy beat. The lyrics were filler; at least that's how I view them.

I know I'm changing the subject sort of but sonically this song kind of reminds of the 70s rock band The Cars. I like The Cars so that's a positive comment/good thing. The big reason it reminds of The Cars are the distinct synthesizers throughout the song. Also something interest to note is compare some of The Cars album covers with Meat and Candy. i.imgur.com/STW3b8V.jpg. They both feature a picture of a girl. Not anyone in the band.

So, confession time: I hadn't heard this song until today. I'm not a big fan of the opening line, but when it's put into context, it doesn't bother me at all. Also, I think the whole "in your snapback" hook is somewhat weak, but as a whole I really enjoy the song. So yeah, my bad for not actually listening to the song first. I absolutely detest "Break Up With Him" and that's the main reason I didn't feel compelled to go out of my way to listen to this one.
I have heard a couple of the other songs on the album, including "Nowhere Fast" and "Said Nobody", and I didn't enjoy either of them. But I should have listened to "Snapback" before making a 'snap' judgement! ;)

I can listen to Snapback, but I don't particularly enjoy it - though it is definitely catchy.

I just heard this on WGAR for the first time, and I must say I don't like it at all. Rarely do I dislike a song on first listen, but this is one of those times.
The beginning of the chorus seemed like it had potential but then all of a sudden this "in your snapback" line that just seems out of place and isn't catchy at all.
Pretty disappointed.

Not really about the song, but that's interesting about usually liking songs on the initial listen. I almost hardly never like a song on first listen. Always takes at least 3 or 4 more times!

I'm surprised at how quickly this song is moving up. I don't like this one nearly as much as "Break Up With Him" (or most of their EP, haven't really listened to Meat and Candy), but I do like this too. I just am a little surprised at how well it's doing.

I just am a little surprised at how well it's doing. I feel the exact opposite, lol. I can't stand "Break Up With Him". "Snapback" is the only song of theirs that I like And I'm not surprised at all how quickly this one is moving up. They had a ton of momentum coming off BUWH, and then "Snapback" was one of the few releases late in the year. Oftentimes late-year releases aren't a good idea (they can get lost in the shuffle), but if you're one of only two or three releases in the last few weeks leading up to Christmas, then it can actually be a big advantage, especially if you hold the official impact/add date until January...which is exactly what RCA did here. "Snapback" is one of those songs that's pretty easy to sing along to; it's very radio-friendly, and country radio is definitely behind these guys. It's also selling quite well. I expect this to continue climbing quite quickly (especially considering that these guys are still a new act) and be another #1 for them.

I finally gave this a listen today and wasn't expecting much considering I thought "Break Up With Him" was unlistenable. Maybe it's just that I set the bar really low, but I found this to be innocent enough and something that I might not hit skip on. I don't know many ladies that wear snapbacks, however.

I'm really hoping "Nowhere Fast" doesn't get passed up. Not really a song I would consider country, but I've mostly given up on the genre anyhow at this point, so might as well play catchy Hot AC songs that people will enjoy. I'm hearing on The Pulse quite a bit, so I imagine the label is pushing it to pop on some level.

So I'm not going to lie, I spent weeks avoiding this song like the plague because of how much "Break Up With Him" rubbed me the wrong way. Which was pretty easy to do because this song wasn't making much impact on radio yet. But now I am starting to hear it literally every time I turn on the radio, and I have to admit I actually really like it............. There is no question that it is a stupid song, but I particularly enjoy the phrasing and the overall delivery of the lyrics. I honestly have not paid any attention to the words, because I probably will hate them. I guess time will tell whether my current enjoyment for this song will last.

Well that video looks like it belonged more on MTV then CMT (yeah I know that MTV doesn't show videos but there was nothing that represented country music in that video).
As for how "Snapback" is doing, look for Old Dominion to move all the way up to #12, as they'll pass Chris Stapleton and with Thomas Rhett finally going recurrent will give Old Dominion a +2 so things continue to look up for this band.
