This better be the 3rd single. ========== Adele's "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" Lyrics Show A Lot Of Emotional GrowthALEX KRITSELIS 7 hours ago ENTERTAINMENT On Friday morning, the whole world breathed a collective sigh of relief — and then giggled in glee — as Adele finally premiered her long-awaited new album, 25. One of the LP's major highlights is "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)," an infectious guitar-driven pop ditty reminiscent in some ways of the material heard on Taylor Swift's latest release, 1989. There's a good reason for that: "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" was co-written and produced by Swift's recent partners in crime, Swedish pop music masterminds Max Martin and Shellback. But the track's über-catchy pop chorus isn't the only reason it stands out: the Adele "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" lyrics show listeners just how much the now 27-year-old British singer has grown since the release of her last effort, 21, in 2011. {Rest of article}While "Someone Like You" (arguably 21's most memorable single) finds Adele defiantly telling a lover who's spurned her that she'll be just fine without him, "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" takes a much more mature and compassionate approach to dealing with an ex (comparatively speaking, anyway). In the song's first verse, Adele lays out all of the ways her ex led her on during their relationship: "This was all you, none of it me / You put your hands all over my body and told me / You told me you were ready / For the big one, for the big jump / I'd be your last love, everlasting you and me / That was what you told me."
However, in the pre-chorus, she reveals that she's actually forgiven him: "I'm giving you up / I've forgiven it all / You set me free, oh." In fact, during the chorus, she seems to even give her ex's new relationship her blessing: "Send my love to your new lover / Treat her better / We gotta let go of all our ghosts / We both know we ain't kids no more."
Adele does say that she wishes "nothing but the best" for her ex in "Someone Like You" — but there's an edge to her delivery that makes you question whether she truly means it. In "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)," she's completely letting go of the past. As she gets older, it seems as though Adele no longer wants to allow unresolved relationship drama to weigh so heavily on her heart — and who can blame her? It may occasionally inspire a really, really, exceedingly brilliant song (read: "Someone Like You"), but the pain it causes (probably) isn't worth it.
25 is available on iTunes now.

This is juvenile, way beneath her.

I think both her and Max Martin dropped the ball on this. He could've done more than producing a re-hash and she could've done more to elevate it with her vocals.
I was looking forward to hearing this song if only for the curiosity of hearing her work with an established Pop producer, but I'm very disappointed by the result.

It has a nice groove. I'm sure it'll be a single, but I don't think it would be a smart choice. She doesn't really have to pander to pop radio since they're going to play anything she puts out anyway.

I don't see this as a pander at all. It's a more retro Tired IMO

I really like this one. A lot. The problem with it is that it's not really Adele. I feel like Adele enjoyed this one, and her and her team love how it turned out, and it is a good song. The problem is that it could be done by anyone else and still be just as good. It doesn't have that Adele name attached to it that the rest of the album does. This song would be just as believable coming from Ellie Goulding, Kelly Clarkson, Selena Gomez, whomever, as it does from Adele. You can't say that about the rest of the album. That doesn't make this a bad song, it just means that it's not really what Adele's amazing style is. This sounds like Lorde crap. It will probably be a single. 1) Lorde isn't crap. Shut your whore mouth. 2) I don't hear Lorde in this at all. Maybe lyrically, but definitely not sonically. Not even close. Lorde's sound is very hip-hop oriented sounds over alternative rock influenced pop beats. This... isn't that. This more in line with Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers, Ed Sheeran, etc.

This will be a massive hit when it is inevitably released as a single.

This is my least favorite song on the album and one I deleted (along with "Hello" and "Remedy"). As far as uptempos go, they should've brought something better to the table.

Adele better show that musicianship in the video if they release it since she actually plays the guitar on the song. It has grown on me and I can see this being massive if released.

This just hit top 50 on AAA, and I created a thread for it. You can either merge this thread with my thread or wait for this to be pushed to pop or AC and move it there.

I really hope this is a single at point. It's so catchy. I like how Adele changed things up and did an uptempo song. As much as I love her ballads, I need some fun from Adele too

LOL @ this sounding like a Lorde song when I know all of her songs backwards, forwards, upside down and sideways and not a one sounds remotely like SML. Taylor? Obviously but Lorde? Nah. Not even sure where that comparison comes from, to be honest, but at least I got my first, real Pulse WTF moment so...there's that.
Anyway, I'm still digging this. Do I like it half as much as I Miss You or When We Were Young? Nah, but I like that Adele thought outside the box and did something fun that bops.

After reading how Max Martin's style is clipped vocals and syllabic bursts, I was listening attentively to the song and thinking of Taylor's songs on Red in which Max played a large part but I do hear more Ed in this than Taylor.

Does anyone know what is going on with this song as far as being pushed to HAC? I was flicking through the radio stations and happened upon Mix 93.1, an iHeartMedia station in MA. Did they just decide to add it just because? I know it is being played on AAA as well...in fact, I continued flicking through after the song ended and found it again on a Triple A station. :) Just curious, thanks!

SML is not being actively pushed anywhere (yet). Even WWWY hasn't officially been sent for adds yet, and that was confirmed to be the second single back in November. Interesting that some radio stations are jumping on it already, though; Columbia may end up choosing SML as the third single based on the early airplay. I love it, but it seemed like Water Under the Bridge is the uptempo track that most people seem to favor out of the two. (WUTB has also gotten a few AAA adds, for what it is worth.)

Great post, very interesting. I also like Water Under the Bridge so I would be happy with either! I think at some point both will end up being released. :)
