All the songs from I Won't Let You Down to Thank You are the best No & I Love Me are also good. Don't care about everything else. Champagne Problems is also one of the very best tracks.

I think the album is just okay. Her debut was better.

Not that her debut album was all that good, but this album is terrible. I would release "Kindly Calm Me Down" as the third single, and move on to the next project. I could totally see her saying, a few years down the line, how this album wasn't really her and she felt pressure from the record label to be something she's not. Which is not surprising when the record label is run by L.A. Reid. She suffered the sophomore slump for real.

I Won't Let You Down is the only thing on this that's of any real merit outside of No for me. The rest is mostly as bad and annoying as her debut, or sound like Rihanna rejects that were subsequently rejected by Selena Gomez and multiple other people. I want someone to walk into Champagne Problems and stick a big piece of tape over her mouth so she can't wreck the track with such ineffectively dumb lyrics.

I really love the Just Your Friend song, I don't remember the song title... How do y'all feel about that one?

Kindly Call Me Down is awesome. I enjoy Me Too and Better as well. The rest album of the album is so Disney musical cheesy.

Honestly I've never really understood Meghan as an artist. She has a few cute disposable pop tunes but I really don't see how she's any more pleasant than a dum dum pop you got as a child after leaving the doctor's office. This album (along with her first, besides All About That Bass, and Lips Are Moving's use in commercials) is a complete waste of time.

Based on most of the negative comments about Meghan's album, I am seriously questioning if I should even purchase it. I'm a Meghan fan, too.

I'm definitely disappointed by the album. Nowhere near as catchy or instant as Title- or as good in general. A clear drop in quality and I have no idea why? I really like the melodically driven ballads here like Hopeless Romantic and Just a Friend to You. Some of the upbeat songs like Watch Me Do (love this) and Me Too or I Love Me are cool but I mean this is not the album that I asked for at all. I also don't get the love for Champagne Problems? Basic track to me
ETA: So I know she had that whole thing with LA Reid, do you guys think the reason this album is just so messy is because they told her to do something totally different? I'm watching an interview from March and she was saying how she was making songs that people expected her to make for this album except a little edgier and they said "No- they expect you to do this, try something else." If that's the case, they were wrong. You can't totally deviate from your genre and your audience only a year after your first album.

That Boston Globe review touches well on what's been brought against her several times here. There's a difference between singing about self-empowerment in an absolute sense, and self-empowerment at the expense of someone else. A recurring theme in her songs is that if she feels good about herself, someone else must feel bad about themselves. It's also a big reason why her schtick seems so hollow.

As if most self-empowerment songs weren't ultimately directed against someone else...It's a little unfair to make this Meghan-specific.

The album sucks, on a whole. The problem is that she has a lot of songs that are really good, and even more songs that are good ideas that might just need a little more development. "No," "Better," "Kindly Calm me Down," and "Dance Like Yo Daddy" are all great songs. Most of the remaining songs have some really good ideas going, they just need some cleaning up. Maybe some editing to remove some of the more cringeworthy moments.
The problem is that none of these songs have any business being on the same album together. If Meghan wants to be seen as a serious pop music fixture, she need so show that she has the artistic ability to develop an entire album. She isn't the type of artist that can survive by releasing a few good singles every now and then--that just isn't her brand or the type of demographic she caters too. And that is another problem. What is Meghan Trainor's demographic? The entire project feels very stilted, and like she's trying to be somebody.
Overall, it was decent. If you liked Meghan's last album and are thinking about buying this album, I would say ignore the critics and buy this album. I think this was a very poor project overall, but there is definitely more then a couple good songs on the record.

My pre order downloaded finally. This is probably my favorite pop album of the year so far. I love the fact that it's current yet very mature. She's going to gain a lot of fans this era.

Album sounds decent enough to me on first listen. Empowerment and ballads. Good stuff.

My main issue with the album is that although the production is solid (kudos to Ricky Reed), a lot of the songs feel like they're trying to cater to Radio Disney and top-40 simultaneously and the songs tend to skew more cheesy than clever as a result. I wasn't expecting her to ditch the quirky Pop songs in favor of more risqué, "sexier" material either but even the "wink and nod" lines she throws in here and there just feel too tongue-in-cheek.
She has a good voice and can definitely write a great Pop song when the formula is right (KCMD is easily my favorite record of hers to date) but I was just expecting more depth to her maturity on this album.

On first listen, I liked "Title" better than "Thank You." Still some good, listenable tracks on this one, but overall her debut had better material. I'll give this a few listens like I do with any album before rendering my full opinion on the masses.

I wish she explored the sound of "kindly calm me down" more, because this song is fire.
