Take Over Control? Wow I remember loving that when I was younger. Where did it peak on here?
If theirs gonna be a Drake 2 for 1, I hope it would be JHOWGH or Truffle Butter.

I'm happy to see Pentatonix snag a week on the chart. Seeing how it's floundering on Mediabase, it might not be here in three weeks when the regular chart resumes. "Can't Sleep Love" is the first a cappella song to chart on AT40 in over 22 years. The last two a cappella songs to chart did so, concurrently, in early 1993 -- "In The Still Of The Night" by Boyz II Men and "If I Ever Fall In Love" by Shai. Optional Extra: Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together So is Taylor contractually obligated to own one of optional extras every week? This is, now, the seventh, consecutive week that she has claimed one of the optional slots: 12/12 I Knew You Were Trouble (hour 2) 12/05 Love Story (hour 2) 11/28 You Belong With Me (hour 2) 11/21 Style (hour 3) 11/14 Blank Space (hour 2) 11/07 Shake It Off (hour 3) The likelihood of the streak continuing during the year-end weeks is high since "Shake It Off" and "Wildest Dreams" both missed Mediabase's year-end top 40.

Doesn't AT40's chart stay the same for the next two weeks because of the year-end countdown? So, Adele will spend a total of 4 weeks on top.
I'm guessing Justin Bieber's "Sorry" will be the first #1 of 2016.

Can't believe 2015 is almost over. It feels like yesterday when it was 2014. - Pentatonix finally debuts, while IKWYDLS also enters, which made me excited by the way.
- Wow. I believe AT40 has set a record for most random extras placed in the show. What really bugged me was that Hollaback Girl was one of them and another extra played after Gwen Stefani's current smash. That's doing too much or just being lazy. I'm pretty surprised that Take Over Control was an extra, too.
- This week's countdown is kind of similar to the one from a year ago today. I only got one reason, though. It's just that every song here (with the exception of Renegades) is moving by five spots or less. In 2014, the biggest drop that week was only by five spots, and the only song moving by more than five was Uptown Funk (jumped eight to #22). This year was pretty fast.
- Speaking of Uptown Funk, I'm pretty sure it'll be the #1 song for the year.

13 extras (including the optional ones) probably ties if not breaks the record for most inserted into a current AT40, though there may have been more (14?) placed in the Casey Kasem 70s/80s replays, if you include the optional extras that Premiere also places in there, one for each hour, along with those included originally. At least AT40 this week reached back a bit in its extras, with three songs from 2005 (two of which are from acts on this week's chart.) Also there's a Maroon 5 song from 2007 that isn't among their overplayed songs. This likely being the last new AT40 of 2015, everything gets "frozen" with two additional weeks in their current positions, so "Photograph", "Cheerleader", and "Lean On" each get 30 or more weeks on the countdown ("Photograph" at least would probably have dropped out next week if there were a new chart). "On My Mind" probably gets shafted out of the top 5 with this "freeze", "Hotline Bling" gets 4 weeks at #2, making it the longest stay in that position this year (previously "Shut Up and Dance" had that distinction, peaking for 3 weeks at #2 in July), and "Hello" matches "Rolling In the Deep" and "Set Fire to the Rain" with 4 weeks at #1--which it probably would have had even without the two frozen weeks.

Love Yourself should be headed to a top 20 debut after the freeze! It's already #21 on mediabase and rising fast.

I just listened to American Top 40 from the computer website www.iheart.com/live/american-top-40-4802/ this afternoon, and they skipped the #17 to #15 segment, and played the next segment (#14 to#11) twice in a row. What the *** is wrong with them?

I'm assuming they waited to play Taylor Swift optionals after she was down to less than two current chart songs by November 7 (that's the week "Bad Blood" fell off) because I don't think there were any Taylor optionals played prior to November this year. Although it's likely we'll hear "Wildest Dreams" as an optional in the next two weeks, it probably won't be "Shake It off" since that song did make the Hot AC year-end Top 40 and the optionals are almost always the same on both versions. And I hope they don't play it as an extra anywhere else in the show because it peaked in October 2014, so hopefully they can find something that's more representative of 2015. My predictions for the year-end optionals in the next 2 weeks (assuming AT40 will be using the published Mediabase charts again): 1) Wildest Dreams 2) What Do You Mean? 3) Heroes (We Could Be) 4) Ghost Town 5) The Hanging Tree 6) This Summer's Gonna Hurt... 7) Take Your Time 8) FourFiveSeconds

Wow, "Wake Up Call" and "Sugar..." were unexpected for me! Pleasantly surprised to hear them on the radio again.

I like Can't sleep love chorus, the verses not so much, but i'm happy they are doing well, even on radio

The iHeart station has been doing so well, lately, since they corrected the overlapping problem between the 3rd and 4th hour. They dropped he ball, again. I really hope they don't screw up the year-end countdown.

^ I've sent the iHeart people another e-mail about this. Haven't heard back yet. Ryan said that Here is the most Shazammed song in the country. He said that Lady Gaga is Billboard's 2015 woman of the year despite not having a hit this year, because of her desire to create and move forward as an artist. Also Chris Brown will move ahead of JT and Eminem as the solo male artist with the most hits this century if his new one charts. I always think that Sorry is Justin Bieber's answer song to Same Old Love. The week that "Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down" dropped off the chart, I joked that I finally understood the name of the group and the name of the song. Happy holidays to everyone!
