Do we really need "this week's" Hot 100 thread before "last week" has finished?

popmusic1 When the week of Youtube ends? 02/18? On every Thursday, so last week 02/18, this week 02/25 Do we really need "this week's" Hot 100 thread before "last week" has finished? YouTube has already reported data for the next tracking week so I thought it's good idea to put it in the next thread. But nevermind...

Rihanna's Work video is out on Youtube. And there are 2 versions in one, so the song is played in its entirety twice. I wonder how this will play out on the streaming chart since I think this is a first, no? Not sure why they wouldn't just release them individually rather than back to back in the same video. Seems odd.
EDIT: Billboard stated today that the double video will NOT count as 2 streams. This makes the decision to put them out together a weird one, imo. But it doesn't matter anyway, ultimately. She's #1 without the video(s).

It seems there won't be any song to beat Work now. Work dominates sales and streaming, and quickly gains on airplay.

Will Work break the record? for all time weeks at number 1? Absolutely not. I can promise some either completely unknown song or new single from some huge name drops before it reaches 7. Also if it manages to do so, I'd be severely dissapointed in America forever.

Oh I hope Work doesn't come close to the record. I don't mind the song but I could see myself getting very annoyed if it's #1 until mid-April. Hello was one of my favorite songs to come out in 2015, and yet even with that one after 10 weeks I was really happy to see a new #1 (and I like Sorry much less than Hello overall).
I Took A Pill In Ibiza is was 33-24 on the last chart. It has a lot of momentum right now. If the video is released soon enough it should be guaranteed top ten. Mike Posner may not be a OHW after all. I've been REALLY getting into the song lately...

I just have to say this: Yo Gotti's label has done a great job with Down in the DM, a song that I thought would peak around 30 and took it to #18, and probably higher next because of the album release.

Yeah, Mike Posner and Yo Gotti are doing very well with their songs. Flo Rida's song is doing very well too, but it's probably going to peak around the same time and Work and seems to be basically doing worse than it, so I think #2 is the best it can peak at. The song to really look out for is 7 Years imo. I've never heard it before, but look at its current stats... It's doing amazing! I think either it will go to #1 or it will be a really long-running hit that is so successful it might as well be a #1 (like Shut Up And Dance, Thinking Out Loud).

Mike Posner has had multiple hits prior to this one other than "Cooler Than Me", he has not had a single top ten or even barely memorable song (and it has only been 5-6 years, not that long). I know "Please Don't Go" scraped the top 20, but I didn't even remember that song's existence until thinking back just now to other songs he's made.

Failed memory doesn't mean the prior hits did not happen.
If we use that criteria ANY artist regardless of prior success could be a one hit wonder

Work should have some nice healthy H100 point totals in the coming weeks - looking at iTunes pop bars and obviously with the added video streaming points. BOOM! Major player.

If we use that criteria ANY artist regardless of prior success could be a one hit wonder By that logic PSY isn't a OHW either then since Gentleman reached the top five. I wouldn't consider Gentleman or Please Don't Go to be hits, even though they had a small amount of impact. I barely even consider "Cooler Than Me" a hit (it made year-end top 20 so it was pretty big, which gives it hit criteria IMO, but still not a BIG hit). I'm just saying I'm hoping ITAPII is much bigger than PDG. For now I consider CTM to be his only real hit, not so much because the others aren't memorable, but rather that their success was not sizeable enough

Lots of different criteria, all is open to debate.
If you want to use the criteria of "real hits" or "BIG" hits as a criteria then that is your choice. That just adds personal opinion into an already convoluted definition.

I Took A Pill In Ibiza is was 33-24 on the last chart. It has a lot of momentum right now. If the video is released soon enough it should be guaranteed top ten. Mike Posner may not be a OHW after all. I've been REALLY getting into the song lately... I love the song, not the remix (that is top20 on Spotify). What about you?

The only current single on the charts I can see challenging Work for the top spot sooner than later is 7 Years if it explodes like in other territories, and maybe an outside chance for Mike Posner. I don't see Adele doing it with her current single, and I don't expect the next one to be announced for a bit, so if she indeed ends up doing it, it'll be once Work is already decreasing.

However, I think there'll be a few more A-list singles dropping in the near future that could have their time at #1... potentially debuting there or following a similar timeline as Work. Anything could happen.
