You've heard these songs already?! Matt ( rsmatto) is the editor over at Roughstock. He gets advanced copies of a lot of CD's (and proceeds to make us all jealous!)

Carrie posted a YouTube video of "The Fighter" and it links directly to Keith's official YouTube page.

OMG.....AWESOME!!! I've always thought Keith and Carrie sound great together!!
Just heard another new song off RIPCORD called Getting in the Way and I loved it! This might turn out to be my favorite of Keith's albums!!

Wow... "The Fighter" is a 100% pure dance song being recorded by two of COUNTRY's biggest format stars, and will be marketed towards country audiences. Just wow. I have to imagine Keith is going to get some backlash here, these songs aren't even in the same universe with country music.

Wow "The Fighter" isn't good really at all. Carrie Underwood sounds great but it sounds like a pure dance song with a beat that sounds like it sounds in pop. Also if that Pitbull collaboration makes it onto country radio I'll lose my mind as I find it to be a bad song regardless of genre. So far none of Keith Urban's songs he's released have really made me look forward to this album like at all. I'm hoping for some decent songs but I am starting to have doubts that will happen.

Ripcord was available on iTunes at 11 pm. It's out now.

What in the world? I know we've seen many songs nowadays sound more Pop than Country but "The Fighter" sounds like a Dance track that's being released to top 40 radio. I literally thought for a couple seconds I accidentally clicked the wrong link/video, in the Pop forum, lol.
I don't hate it but this is certainly a case where Keith wanted a Pop song on his marketed "Country" album.

Just a heads-up, friends...there's a thread on the "Country News & Non-Singles" board to discuss the album. :)

Is this seeing some pushback from stations? It lost almost half a million in audience. I mean, I can't see stations being fine playing Sam Hunt but not this. But anyway, I've heard a couple of brutal evaluations of this song from some people I know. It's not a bad song, but I just don't understand the strong backing beat and the overproduction.

I don't think that this morning's negative update should be cause for concern. This morning's update competed against an uncharacteristically big update seven days before (for airplay on 6 May) of 101 spins and 880K audience impressions gained for "Wasted Time." Since 6 May also happened to be Ripcord release day, my guess is that "Wasted Time" got some bonus play to help promote the album release last Friday (reflected in last Saturday's update), and that bonus play dropped off the rolling Mediabase chart in this morning's update.

Yeah, this song is definitely having a slow week, but that's not all that uncommon when songs are on the cusp of the top 10. I expect this one to get some major top 10 conversions next week, as he'll greatly benefit when Capitol label-mate Dierks Bentley starts bleeding spins. It's pretty clear that Keith is going to pass both Kenny and Maren sooner rather than later, too. As 43dudleyvillas pointed out, "Wasted Time" had a big update last Saturday morning, so we simply saw Keith 'lose' that update on the rolling chart today.

Also, stations might be sneaking in some album tracks here and there which may have taken away some spins for WT. The Fighter (whether you like the song or not) is getting TONS of attention right now... It was tracking #1 on iTunes Country and the video of Keith and Nic singing it has over 32 million views. That's just one of the other songs on Ripcord..
Hoping this song gets back on track SOON, as it starts getting bigger gains again heading towards those Top 10 conversions.

Was this little part really necessary, I mean we all know how big of a Keith Urban fan you are but Keith is open to criticism which I will deliver if I want too and this little snide remark is just unnecessary, but I digress.

It probably wasn't necessary, but neither are all the snide remarks that are usually said about some artists here (i.e. "This song is awful, but at least it's not as bad as FGL's new music.")

I took it to mean that "the fighter" although an album track, is selling very well so far, while Acknowledging that it has not been universally accepted and is probably not everyone's cup of tea.

I personally don't see how a remark such as "whether you like the song or not" can be viewed as a snide remark. All myeverything was saying is that "The Fighter" is doing really well (sales-wise) regardless of whether you or anyone else likes it or not. A phrase like that is simply acknowledging that some people like "The Fighter" and others don't...nothing more, nothing less. I think maybe you were looking for something that wasn't there.

Yeahhh, I definitely wasn't meaning directly to you or anyone else for that matter. Some people like the song, some love it, and some hate it! It was expressed earlier on the board that it's not a favorite here and that is absolutely fine and everyone is allowed to criticize all they want (within reason, of course...) but I meant it as an overall general comment and not the way you were taking it out to be. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I've noticed that Jason Aldean's latest "Lights Come On" is a little over a million away from Keith in audience and I'm wondering if Jason Aldean/Broken Bow records are trying too pass Keith Urban and potentially make "Lights Come On" a 2 week BB #1 and "Wasted Time" a MB only #1. I do think out of the two of them Jason Aldean's has proven too be more of a hit as outside of "Noise" by Kenny Chesney, "Wasted Time" is fairing the worse out of all the climbing songs in the Top 10. So I do wonder if Keith can get the BB #1 because I'm having a sneaking suspicion that Luke will try for a couple of weeks at the top which could spell real disaster for Keith.

I really don't see Light's Come On being a bigger hit than Wasted Time, but I guess that's just my opinion. I also don't see the need for the huge push from BBR when it's clear that the song was gonna get to #1 either way. Friendly competition sure, but really no need for it when this day and age it's all about "every song taking their turn" - not saying that's the way we want it or that it should be, but let's face it.. that's usually how it goes whether we want it to or not. The last time Keith was in this position, he got screwed over so I'm REALLY hoping that it doesn't happen again. Luke is a label mate of Keith's so hopefully Cap is willing to only push for 1 week for Luke so Keith can get his turn as well. Maybe if Jason goes up ahead of Keith, then Keith can actually be the one to grab 2 weeks at the top before Carrie gets there. A lot can happen still... and for once, I have full faith that Wasted Time will get to the top!!
