Surprised that Positive Drinkin' was DOA. I barely heard anyone around here play it, and it seemed to spend forever below top 40. Where'd his momentum go?

Now this is a good song. Why this wasn't the second single completely boggles my mind. Hopefully it won't be too late for this gem to become a hit. Bobby Bones and The Highway better spin the heck out of this one. Funny that we get confirmation of this beauty the same day Brett Eldredge chooses another schlock song. Take some freaking notes Brett, this is how you make a solid country song.

Surprised that Positive Drinkin' was DOA. I barely heard anyone around here play it, and it seemed to spend forever below top 40. Where'd his momentum go? "Buy Me A Boat" was the iHeartRadio 'On The Verge' selection, so that gave a somewhat false impression of what to expect from his subsequent singles, although the top 40 placement for "Power Of Positive Drinkin'" was a disappointment -- it had some stiff competition when it went for adds and by the time it cracked the top 40, the new releases sweeping radio the past 4-6 weeks, doomed it. Warner didn't feel the fight was worth the battle (taking too long to climb and not connecting) and already had "Holdin' Her" in mind to be his next single so they ended POPD's chart run.

Liked his last single a lot, but wow this one is brilliant. Good country music right here, LOVE that chorus. Beautiful song. With all that said, I'd be surprised if it hit the top 20.

Now that's a good song! And most definitely a country song. I'm reminded of Brad Paisley's "And We Danced" (not overly much so). I really hope this does well on radio.

This is wonderful and is just stone cold country. Impressive chorus vocal, too. I must say though, I'm not sure I expect this to do much better than his last single. I saw a fair share of comments regarding "Power of Positive Drinkin'" being a poor choice for radio, but listening to this song, I see why they chose "Drinkin'" over this for the initial follow-up. If this one turns into a hit, it's going to be one hell of an underdog. I just can't imagine this one going over very well on "country" radio because of how slow and country it sounds.

Wow, this is definitely fantastic! I really hope it does well for him, because this would be a welcome addition to country radio in my book.
Is anyone else getting "Meanwhile" (George Strait) vibes at parts of the verses? (I just re-listened, and this happens during the 3rd and 6th lines of the verses. The lines "That's how I used to roll", "She stole my heart, and I started walking' down a new road", "Tears filled my eyes as I slipped a ring on her hand". It totally sounds like the lines "Every man stares, but her eyes are only for me" and "She draws the curtains, and slowly we climb up the stairs" in "Meanwhile"!) Also, the start of the chorus is basically Brad Paisley's "Alcohol".

You could be very well right, especially since Chris doesn't have much momentum right now. The sliver of hope comes from the days Bobby Bones was spinning this and the sales increased dramatically. I think if that didn't happen we wouldn't be getting this as a single. Hopefully its a sign this will be a big seller.

Chris performed this live on Bobby Bones this morning and killed it. Even played harmonica. Cross-harp.

This song is such a beautiful one. It makes me emotional even though I don't have a girlfriend. This song needs to be nominated come awards season in the fall. Chris Janson, you are one of my favorite singers besides Chris Stapleton.

I enjoyed the interview with Chris on Bobby Bones show when he performed live last week and was talking about calling his stepchildren "bonus children". I didn't have any step relationships in my family but my wife's family is full of them (she is a stepchild and both of her parents have stepchildren). This is a very good description of how they view these relationships and I totally get it.

I love the video -- that was very well done. It makes me appreciate and enjoy the song even more too knowing how "real" it is. This sounds more like something that would've been a hit 10-15 years ago than on today's country radio, but I'd love to see this one do well. If the awful Eric Paslay could get "She Don't Love You" to the Top 20, maybe this one has a chance yet.

"Holdin' Her" got 12 more adds this week; second week since Going For Adds.
Good second week showing. This one is fighting an uphill battle but the label's support and Chris' likability with programmers are on his side.

"Holdin' Her" climbed up seven spots to #51 on Billboard Airplay this week, with the fourth most audience gained in the bottom half of the chart (#31-#60) -- and the most audience gained songs #36-#60. It also got 5 more adds this week (52 total stations).

Love this song, though I could go without all the talking after the first chorus. That chorus is something special. I have a feeling this is gonna do well for him.

I actually enjoy the talking in this song; it reminds me of a Country song, straight out of the 70's. The lyrics. The steel guitar. The melody. The vocals. Everything about this one is stone cold Country and it really stands out on radio.

The sales for this one are pretty strong so far too. It's almost selling better than Justin Morre's current hit that is getting waaaay more AirPlay at the moment. This one probably will take a long time on the charts, but I'm optimistic radio might be inclined to play this one. Would probably help if PDs introduce this song being from the guy who also sang "Buy Me A Boat".

"Holdin' Her" got 9 more adds this week (61 total stations) and moved up three to #53 this week on Mediabase.
Like I said before, this one really stands out among the other songs on the radio and I actually think that will help this one. Pretty sad that a super traditional song like this is the ugly duckling (in the best way possible) on the radio.

There is a version on a Live From the Opry EP of Holdin Her that will blow you away. It is amazing, in my opinion.

"Holdin' Her" climbed seven spots to #48 on Mediabase this week. :)
Three recurrents helped but I'm really pleased with the reaction radio has given this one so far. I'm not anticipating a chart topper here but hopefully this one can at least see similar success to William Michael Morgan's "I Met A Girl", although not nearly as slow as that song took to reach the top 30.

This is a great country song. I saw Chris perform this at the Opry a week ago and his performance was flawless.. guy is an unreal entertainer.. I had no idea.
