hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=300595Saturday, April 9, 2016 ONE-DAYS: LUMINEERS SHINING BRIGHTLYUnless something unexpected drops (and that’s always a possibility these days), The Lumineers are lined up to take the #1 spots on both our sales and SPS charts next Friday (4/15)—which also happens to be the IRS filing deadline, but that’s another story. You’ll note that two of the three top debuts are on indie labels, which hasn’t happened in some time. There’s no projection yet for Kanye West, but we hope to have that hole filled by Monday. Here’s how things are shaping up one day into the new sales week: Lumineers (Dualtone) 75-80k album, 80-85k SPS Deftones (Reprise) 38-43k album, 40-45k SPS Zakk Wylde (eOne) 14-17k album, 15-18k SPS

That's pretty bad for Deftones. Their previous opened with 65k

Lumineers are still a thing? Pretty good numbers for an act that hasn't had a hit since 2012.

It's not like they've released multiple albums since 2012 that failed to do anything.

The Lumineers actually did have a hit with their current album (Ophelia). Not a 'huge' one across all formats, but it is leading the AAA chart for a few weeks now (it's gap between the #2 song is quite sizeable too), and is now top 10 on the alternative chart. For a rock song, it's also selling quite well. I'd say the numbers for their album are quite respectable, considering another folk band to break out in the last few years, Of Monsters and Men only opened with 57k last year (though their lead single didn't do as well as Ophelia).
As for Deftones, 40k is a drop from their last album, Koi No Yokan, but it should be taken into consideration that KNY was released in November (i.e. the Holiday period where albums sell more). Hopefully their numbers rise.

These are the same numbers Gwen Stefani did with much more promotion and arguably a couple of bigger hits (on the Hot 100 at least, didn't know they were doing well on some formats). Very impressive.

Gwen didn't do any promotion around the album though. She did SNL on April 2, which was 2 weeks after the album came out.

I still remember when people on here said that the Lumineers would never have another hit on alt. Sucks for them eh?

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=300673Friday, April 15, 2016 CLEOPATRA REIGNSDualtone’s The Lumineers debut at the top of the HITS Album Sales and SPS charts this week, with just about 106k albums and 123k with singles and streams factored in. It’s a big coup for the alt-folk trio, the label’s power duo of Scott Robinson and Paul Roper, and their team. The band, whose “Ho Hey” was a monster smash a few years ago, have come roaring back with sophomore set Cleopatra, which also bows at #1 in the U.K. Another debut, from returning rockers Deftones (Reprise), lands in the #2 berth, moving just shy of 66k albums and 68k SPS. Two chart veterans, Mercury Nashville’s Chris Stapleton (just south of 38k sales, down 36%, and nearly 47k SPS) and XL/Columbia’s Adele (23k/30k SPS, -20%) follow, and eOne’s Zakk Wylde rounds out the Top 5 in the neighborhood of 20k on both sides. On the SPS chart, last week’s champ, G.O.O.D./Def Jam’s Kanye West, secures the #4 spot with 48k (-52%), once again without mainstream retail. Westbury Road/Roc Nation’s Rihanna and Def Jam’s Justin Bieber take the #5 and #6 positions thanks to big streams and huge sales of singles “Work” and “Love Yourself,” respectively. This seemingly light release week, which includes new sets by two very different rock-guitar icons—Santana Records’ Santana and KISS guitarist Ace Frehley (another eOne jam)—could be upended by a sudden superstar drop sometime this weekend, if rumors are to be believed.
