More than anything, I would want access to every song on the Hot 100 and the points each would receive from a very basic inverse point system where the #1 song gets 100 points. The #2 song gets 99 points and so on. For example. Here is data for all the artists of 2016: genius.com/Billboard-hot-100-biggest-artists-of-2016-annotatedI have done all of 2015 and 2016 by myself. I was going to start doing 2010, but then I found out other people did similar things. Not that I'm lazy, but why do all that massive work if somebody else already did it? If it was only songs from 2010-present, that would be fine too. Any data is appreciated really.

I'm on it. I'll post the results here when I'm finished.

You mean you've been in the process of creating one, or you know how to get one?

You mean you've been in the process of creating one, or you know how to get one? I'm gonna create a top 50 for the 2016 actual year, AKA all charts starting from the one labeled Jan 16 onwards (as Jan 16's chart was released on the 6th)

I'm gonna create a top 50 for the 2016 actual year, AKA all charts starting from the one labeled Jan 16 onwards (as Jan 16's chart was released on the 6th) I pretty much already have that. I have all the information possible for January 2015-present. With he talks of inverse point systems on this website, I was wondering if there was a way i could find a database or list of every song ever charting on the Hot 100. Here's the Top 20 of 2015, so that you know what I mean. 4478 Uptown Funk! Mark Ronson 3975 Trap Queen Fetty Wap 3959 Thinking Out Loud Ed Sheeran 3550 Shut Up And Dance WALK THE MOON 3464 Sugar Maroon 5 3292 Earned It The Weeknd 3253 Watch Me Silento 3250 See You Again Wiz Khalifa 2845 Where Are U Now Skrillex 2812 Lean On Major Lazer 2797 Love Me Like You Do Ellie Goulding 2762 Want To Want Me Jason Derulo 2762 Cheerleader OMI 2688 The Hills The Weeknd 2530 Can't Feel My Face The Weeknd 2434 Post To Be Omarion 2433 Shake It Off Taylor Swift 2393 Blank Space Taylor Swift 2369 Worth It Fifth Harmony 2329 Fight Song Rachel Platten

That is why this is a bad idea. See You Again at number 8? LMFAO.

That is why this is a bad idea. See You Again at number 8? LMFAO. It's not too great for a Top 20 list of the year because it requires too many weeks to even be considered. You can see that the minimum required just to be in the Top 20 is above 2300 so if you show up on the chart after July you have no chance to even be in the Top 20 songs. However, it is great for the long term. I know certain people like Ryan Milowicki have all of the data, and it would be really great if I could get my hands on it.

Just letting you know right now, around 950 is where the cut off is for being in the Hot 100/Not Hot 100.

Hello wasn't even able to hit the top 10, because being #1 for 7 weeks only gets you 700 points. I think the artist countdown using these numbers is a lot more interesting. Taylor Swift 10435 The Weeknd 9500 Fetty Wap 9042 Drake 7327 Ed Sheeran 6746 Meghan Trainor 6101 Maroon 5 5408 Mark Ronson 4478 Nicki Minaj 4447 Sam Smith 4277

Oh EVERY song? I have no idea. That would take forever. I know. That's why I said even if it was only one year worth of data (especially 2010 - 2014 it would be a lifesaver. I can tell certain people have a ton of numbers when they say stuff like "incredible 4,478 point yield, the second-highest single-year total ever (behind Jewel’s 1997 run with “You Were Meant For Me”)."

I actually have a few songs from 2014 (I think all of the top 10 before September or so). I know it isn't much, but I will have a look for you if I can find it :)
Edit: I just found the copy of it I had. Only problem is I have no idea when this was from, and it only includes points from December 2014 (e.g. I have Timber at 2066, The Monster at 1510, Royals at 1560). I'm not sure how much use this would be for you :( Sorry

Weren't all the Billboard yearend charts up until 1991 inverse point based? I know R&R's were, I did a test using 1993 and with a few exceptions it matched the official list perfectly.

For my all-time charts, I use inverse points system but in a different way. Normally inverse point systems are linear, but I use a geometric one.
The points for songs at various ranks approximately show a inverse relationship with the square root of its rank.
For example, if a song ranked #10 gets 20k points, then a song ranked #40 gets 10k points, since the points will be halved due to a four time increase in rank.

If you wish to give 100 points for rank 1, then the formula would be: Points = 100/square root of rank e.g. points for rank 25 would be= 100/square root of 25 = 100/5 = 20 points Points can be easily calculated and added using basic Excel formulas.

Although it means that #100 would get 10 points. I'm not sure if that would be ideal.
1: 100 . . 4. 50 . . . . 9. 33.3 . . . . . . 16: 25 . . . . . . 25: 20 . . . . . . . . . . . 100: 10
25 is only twice as powerful as 100, barely on the chart. I'm not sure at all if that is ideal for what I'm looking for.
Very interesting concept though. What would be an example of say, a year under this system?

^ The above formula works well only till rank 50. The reason is because the song that is ranked 100 will actually be ranking much higher if all the recurrents are taken into account. That's why after #50 I use a linear formula, giving #100 song half the points of #50.
So the formula for #1-50 is: 100/sqrt(rank) The formula for #51-100 is: 100*sqrt(50)/rank.
Thus:
Rank 1: 100 Rank 25: 20 Rank 50: 14.14 Rank 100: 7.07
If you want more separation, you can definitely use a higher power (say 0.6 in place of 0.5), but I think my formula approximates the real-case scenario pretty well... #1 songs on an average have 50-60k points on Hot 100, #50 songs typically have 8-8.5k points, and 4-4.5k points is generally enough to make Hot 100.
In any case, it is much better than what is generally used..... where 2 weeks at #50 (51 points each = 102 points) has more weight than 1 week at #1 (100 points). :)
