I don't think there's a thread for this one, but Jon Bellion (the writer of Eminem's 'Monster' and the singer on Zedd's 'Beautiful Now') just released his debut album The Human Condition. The album is getting really good reviews online and is set to open with 30-35K albums this week, definitely a solid opening for such an unknown artist. I'm really enjoying the album. 'All Time Low', 'Woke The f**k Up' and 'Guillotine' with Travis Mendes are my current favorites.

I was listening to previews and didn't really get the hype. I'll probably end up giving this a spin soon.

His music is so different, and I love it! Especially "All Time Low" and "Human" (from The Definition, one of his mixtapes available on Spotify)! I have yet to listen to the whole album, but I'm really excited to do so!

If it looks like a fuckboy, sings like a fuckboy, and comes from Long Island, then...
Someone I used to be friends with (had to cut ties earlier this month) is a huge fan, which is not surprising at all and was raving about how he wants to see him in Boston but it's sold out. I gave a listen to the clips and was not impressed at all, save one song whose name I don't recall. I think it's pretty hilarious that he has played two festivals I attended (Governor's Ball this year and Firefly last year) and I missed him both times because I had no idea who he was. #oop

I liked "All Time Low" and "Guillotine." They're fine. I totally see him being an Internet-related flash in the pan tho.

The album was good. I still don't get all the hype surrounding him, but he's good. Nothing groundbreaking. Outside of "All Time Low", I dug "New York Soul, Pt. ii", "Maybe IDK" and "Guillotine".

Sad the guy is probably gonna go down as a one hit wonder, his album is very uneven and many of the songs have one or two elements that get under my skin. However in spite of this I still like many of the tracks, and I think he really brings something new to the pop scene.
Honestly I'm surprised All Time Low became as big as it did, so I guess I should just be happy about that. And it's not like they chose the wrong single second either, as Overwhelming was probably the best choice (or at least the safest -- if they wanted to go for something more risky they could've released 80s Films or Maybe IDK, but I'm not convinced those would've done better).

I agree with your sentiment, but disagree about the single - I think 80s Films would have struck with the GP and performed better. I hope he's got big plans for this year!
