True. I guess I was just shocked/disappointed that when I saw it last time it was #9, and it's now #24. It was just released then. It's still #2 on iTunes country. This is shaping up to be a big hit but it's not gonna dominate the sales chart across the board.

Considering it debuted at #22 on the airplay chart, that would be a given. I meant on the Hot 100.

I heard this song not once, not twice but three times on my long ride today running essential errands. Twice was on The Highway and once was on WYRK. I think I heard it one time all the way through before today.
This song is definitely going to be one that gets better as the next few weeks pass. I love the transition from Kenny to Pink, as they go from verse to chorus; the start of the chorus is so infectious...
"and we were up all night and we were feelin' so good Yeah, we got a little higher than we probably should"
I don't necessarily think Kenny and Pink's voices match up "perfectly" but they do match enough in inflection and cadence to come off very pleasing in the melody. Again, I'm really liking this song the more I hear and it. I've always been a big fan of Kenny for the most part (he's a couple duds like "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven" and "Pirate Flag" -- two of my least favorite Kenny singles, ever). This song isn't as good to me as "You And Tequila" or "El Cerrito Place" but it's definitely one of Kenny's better releases the past few years.

I've been hearing much more country music lately and gotta tell ya I love it XD
This is one of my faves on the country chart right now :) I hope that this scores Kenny/Pink another hit! (And of all genres for Pink: COUNTRY?! :O )

How is radio?

19 on iTunes. How is radio? Since you appear to be new to the country format, it might be useful to understand a little bit more about the typical chart dynamics on the format. Kenny Chesney remains a core format artist, and any single he releases is all-but-guaranteed top-20 level airplay within three weeks of release. We're still within that window of three weeks of release, and unsurprisingly, "Setting the World on Fire" has spent the week gaining 150+ spins and 1-1.5 million in audience per day. That is big for the country format, but it also reflects the fact that "Setting the World on Fire" is getting instant conversion to medium rotation across the board. Again, this is typical for any sufficiently radio-friendly lead single from an A-list country artist (and "Setting the World on Fire" is effectively functioning as a another lead single for Kenny). I suppose it's noteworthy that it looks like "Setting the World on Fire" will pass Miranda Lambert's "Vice," but on the other hand, A-list bonafides notwithstanding, Miranda's track record at country radio is uneven and "Vice" isn't as obvious a radio hit as "Setting the World on Fire" (even though "Vice" is looking like an impact track regardless of how much country radio embraces it). Over the next few weeks, programmers will start testing "Setting the World on Fire" to get a sense of listener response, and it's how fast "Setting the World on Fire" makes it way to top-10 rotation from top-20 rotation that will be an indication of how well "Setting the World on Fire" is testing out of the gate. So basically, there won't much to glean about how the song is doing on radio until at least a few weeks from now, because what it is doing right now is purely about Kenny Chesney's status as a country radio A-lister and the song getting lead single treatment. It may also prove easier for "Setting the World on Fire" to move through the top-20 if it tests well enough because the singles currently in the #11 through #20 spots have been looking pretty weak and don't appear to be generating much programmer enthusiasm. On the subject of promotion, I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if the premiere televised performance of "Setting the World on Fire" weren't until the CMA Awards in November. It's typical for the country awards shows to invite performers from other genres for the sake of ratings, plus the 2 November date of the CMAs falls within the first week of release for Kenny's new album. This would ensure that the first televised performance of the song was an event and on a stage that would have a lot of viewers. Yes, that means sacrificing promotional opportunities in the meantime, but this is a collaboration of two big enough names that I think the priority will be ensuring that the first televised performance of the song is on a worthy platform. As for the song itself...I had committed the chorus to memory within two listens and while the song itself is nothing extraordinary, it does feel like an obvious hit. P!nk really does sound terrific, and her expressive vocals on the chorus lay bare my ongoing issue with Kenny's voice -- his delivery is just so flat, I really find it impossible to get anything from him interpretively. I don't think there's a chance in hell that Kenny will be able to keep up with P!nk live, either. But it's definitely a savvy move to bring in her for the song. What character the record has is purely due to P!nk.

I was hoping they'd do The Voice but yeah, after reading that reply, it makes all the sense. It sucks to wait until November but it could work wonders for the song and Kenny's album release.
Hopefully they release the vídeo soon, showing a lot of strenght on ITunes with only radio airplay.

This looks like it was released at the perfect time. Not that there would be a bad time to release a quality collaboration between Kenny and Pink, but things are aligning very well for it. It's #17 and soaring in week 3, and there are 3 songs in the top 10 losing a lot of spins. Plus in the 11-20 range, you have Kip Moore and Brad Paisley about to throw in the towel, ZBB and William Michael Morgan crawling along and Blake Shelton with a slower moving (for him) single. This could be top 10 in 2-3 more weeks, which would be exceptional.

I have really enjoyed this one so far. Often times I don't care much for country/pop collaborations but I like this one. Example, I just haven't been feeling Brad Paisley and Demi Lovato. This is probably best of this variety I've heard since Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, although Kelly definitely has a lot of country roots in her.

That reminds me, I hope Kelly Clarkson's second album for Atlantic will be a COUNTRY one. It would be great to hear it.

Still moving at a fast pace. Already top 15, should hit the top 10 in 8 or 9 days if it can keep its bullet.

Looks like this song will be in the Top 10 in 5 weeks which is definitely impressive.
This song is more of a pop song than country. But I love the harmonies and that chorus is everything! I also believe in my opinion that Kenny Chesney holds his own in this song and both Kenny Chesney and Pink make this song complete.

Hoping he plays this when I see him tonight! It appears he hasn't played it on tour yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if he plays it tonight. Last year he didn't play Save It For A Rainy Day until the Gillette Stadium shows at the end of the tour.

Wow, top 10 on Mediabase tomorrow....that's impressive. I know it's still Kenny but that's an accomplishment, especially in 2016 for someone not named Blake Shelton or Luke Bryan. This song took 4 weeks to reach the top 10.
Reminds me of those 2004-2007 Kenny chart runs.

Well radio had to make it up to Kenny in some way after the flub that was NOISE! Sure, Noise entered the chart at #21 and peaked at #6. That means it joins other 'flubs' like Fall In Love-1995, A Lot Of Things Different-2003, Keg In The Closet-2005, and I'm Alive-2009 as his other #6 hits (I mean, flubs).

Geez....I didn't know those songs just went to #6 on the charts!! I thought most of Kenny's songs went higher. Those weren't some of Kenny's best, but still better than NOISE. Don't know what it was about that song, but it was irritating. I take that back....I'm Alive sucked. IMO.

The amount of times I heard "Keg in the Closet" around here, I'd have guessed it led airplay for that year. It was constantly played in EasternKY.
