Gotta love that MediaBase chart. Chesney has more spins, but Bryan has more audience impressions: 2 1 KENNY CHESNEY Setting The World On... f/P!nk 8687 7996 691 60.805 4 2 LUKE BRYAN Move 8408 7810 598 61.623 I speak for everyone that Hates "Move" (Including myself here)....HOW is that atrocious song 'Move' listened to more than Kenny's?! I am legit praying Cole's song blocks Luke from #1 on MB next week and that Kenny keeps #1 on Sunday.

HOW is that atrocious song 'Move' listened to more than Kenny's?! I am legit praying Cole's song blocks Luke from #1 on MB next week and that Kenny keeps #1 on Sunday. Eh, because of the slightest of discrepancies between Kenny's major market/daytime spins and Luke's. Nothing more. As we've seen hundreds of times, song quality (subjective of course), does not determine chart success. Kenny's song has gained roughly 5.0 million in audience on Mediabase this week, which is barely ahead of Luke's -- "Setting The World On Fire" started the week behind "Move" on Billboard Airplay by 460k in audience -- so the two songs are likely neck-and-neck right now in Billboard audience. Kenny already has the Mediabase #1 all but locked up tomorrow. I'm expecting "Setting The World On Fire" to secure the #1 on both charts and make way for "Move" next week (UMG has power up ads running this week). Maxing this week also lays the opportunity for Sony to release the next single through and iHeartMedia deal on Thursday or Friday, since the album drops on the 28th.

One of my stations (WIRK) played "Trip Around the Sun" and introduced it as Kenny's followup to this song.

#1 this week on both Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase Aircheck!!! Kenny Chesney Gives Pink Her First Country #1 Song Posted on October 24, 2016 www.wbwn.com/2016/10/24/kenny-chesney-gives-pink-her-first-country-1-song/Kenny Chesney‘s latest single “Setting The World On Fire” has given pop/rock singer Pink something she has never had before, a number one country song. The timing of the ascending to the top of the country music singles charts could not have been better for Kenny. The collaboration with Pink is featured on Kenny’s new album Cosmic Hallelujah that will be released this coming Friday, October 28th. This will be Kenny’s 16th studio album of his career. The advanced Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts show “Setting The World On Fire” in the #1 spot for this week.
Pink has scored four number one pop singles during her career as a solo act. So, this makes her fifth number one overall and her first chart topping country song. “Setting The World On Fire” becomes Kenny’s 29th #1 single of his career. ANOTHER ARTICLE When Kenny Chesney announced a duet with pop superstar P!nk, there was no telling what the track would do. But as Chesney’s songs do, the song, “Setting The World On Fire,” blazed up the charts and notched the No.1 spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Media Base Country Airplay charts. www.soundslikenashville.com/news/kenny-chesneys-setting-the-world-on-fire-blazes-up-the-charts-to-no-1/

^That probably means Luke Bryan is at #2 for a second week.

This is so obviously a huge hit that deserves multiple weeks at #1, and "Move" has been one of the more lukewarmly received singles from Luke Bryan in the past few years so it'd be nice to see Luke got blocked from the #1... and this is coming from someone who doesn't even like Kenny Chesney, lol. (This song is one of a select few of his I can tolerate though, mostly because of P!nk's presence since she truly makes the song.)

If Move does peak at #2, Luke Bryan will be the 56th artist in country music history with a quartet of runner up hits.

Saw he's releasing R&M. Will be interesting to see how it is received, given its social message. I like it, but then I like Noise. It took several listens but the song really grew on me. Couple questions 1) why is Noise considered a flop? Is it relative to his other songs? Is breaking the Top 10 not good enough? Or was is a small sales measure? I saw how it fell off charts, but thought that was more a measure of the label trying to quickly make room for STWF, as it diverted attention from the delayed album. But I don't know much about these things. 2) Why isn't KC performing at CMA's. I understand those who get nominated get to play. But this is a 50th anniversary. He's had as much impact on the CMAs, and really country music as any of of the modern day artists.

Pink's fifth number one overall? Huh? How about her numerous Hot AC #1s? Misleading info

In case anyone missed it, Sony Nashville is going for a second week at #1 with "Setting The World On Fire." The ad from Billboard last night confirmed it and Kenny's song gained 75 spins and 650k in audience today.
Broken Bow is pushing #1 the week of November 13th-21st, according to the ad in Country Aircheck yesterday; which means that I'm expecting stations have signed off or given the impression they've signed off on Luke's push coming next week and Cole's coming the first week of November.

I think the reason why people think Noise was a flop (despite peaking at #6 on the airplay chart) is because it was a lead single from a superstar in the format. Kenny Chesney's last lead single that did not hit #1 was Pirate Flag off his Life On A Rock album (#3 in 2013). There is great expectations from an artist like Chesney. If you were to look at the Noise thread, the single itself did not sell like hotcakes. That's why people consider Noise to be a flop (I do not). 3. Why Chesney has not been announced as a performer yet, I do not know. Seeing he is not nominated for anything may be the reason he will not be there.

Thanks. You all have quite a bit of insight. I think he may be at CMAs for some sort of award, but I guess no combo with Pink. Too bad. That would have been fun to see. She has a great stage presence.

Nice to meet (you) virginia611 ! (worked out better in my head). Welcome to Pulse! Being a KC fan, I found "Noise" to be just...noise...but I think with the usual success he has, it was a flop in that regard. Whereas, I'm sure many artists would be just fine with a Top 10 hit, KC is at a point where if his single doesn't hit #1, a lot of people would be surprised.

I don't know if the membership will remember this song next summer when the nominees are announced.

Where did you see that he is releasing "Rich and Miserable"? I hate the song and was hoping that "Trip Around The Sun" would be released next.

Here's the ad from Billboard last night from Columbia Nashville. Here's the "Power Up" ad from Capitol Nashville in Country Aircheck today. Like I mentioned this morning; it appears that Kenny will get 2 weeks at #1, on at least Mediabase.

Rolling Stone had an article up the other day hinting that "Rich and Miserable" will be the next single. Specifically it stated: "Rich and Miserable" is the third song released from Cosmic Hallelujah, which comes out this Friday, October 28th. It follows the chart-topping P!nk duet, "Setting the World on Fire," and another wake-up call song, "Noise," which laments all of the technology, media and other nuisances that stop us from taking time to smell the roses."I certainly hope this isn't the case; they may feel inclined to release a song like this with it being an election year but I think it'd be another "Noise" type of mistake. I'm hoping for "Trip Around the Sun" myself.

Kenny really likes songs about society though so I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was "Rich and Miserable." However I don't see it being a big hit if it is the next single.

"Rich And Miserable" is an even more unfriendly radio song than "Noise", I don't know what the hell they are thinking. There's got to be better choices in this album.

"Trip Around the Sun" better be the next single! It makes perfect sense, since it would be played a lot during New Years. And my radio station said it would be the next single so I still have hope.

"Trip Around the Sun" sounds much more like his traditional music, no doubt. It really does seem like these charts are tightly controlled, managed between labels and PDs. Kenny certainly has been a benefactor, and I am a fan so believe with good reason. But many other artists, very talented artists, can't get any spins, even with good music. Shame.

Isn't Pink like very pregnant from what I heard? I heard Kenny Chesney mention that in the CCUSA interview a couple of weeks ago

Would you care to cite any examples? Granted I'm not the biggest Kenny Chesney fan, Although I have come around from having detested him at one point. But looking through his singles discography, I can't really think of any that I would call a "society" song.
