Well, I thought you were all so cute predicting she might finally get something this year after she'd been robbed so often. Color me shocked they even let her finally have FVotY.

Sad that Carrie didn't win, but honestly the night was so amazing otherwise that I can't complain all too much. I think she'll get it eventually or at least I hope so.

And CMA's....no Joey Feek tribute is a HUGE miss in my eyes. Not even a mention. The lack of a mention was surprising, but I don't see why Joey deserved a tribute. Did the duo ever have a true hit song?

It's her best showing in 8 years, so.

LOL. I knew it would be hard to imagine Taylor presenting eoty to Carrie. Was hoping I was wrong.

Did the duo ever have a true hit song? Does it really matter that they never had a hit song? Joey story and unfortunate death was one of the biggest things in country music in the early portions of 2016.

Disappointed in the EOTY not going to Carrie but outside of that it was near perfection.
---I seriously believe that FGL's demise is here. They have flown the coup. No one was into their performance and without Tim they had nothing except T Hubb forgetting his lyrics No awards for them=Victory. The sound they have has sailed and they pigeon holed themselves into a style that they can't fit out of. I still believe they will sell to the fans that don't know any better but their demise might be happening. ---Carrie Finally getting FVOTY. Long overdue. It was truly about time. ---Chris winning again (I would have been ok with Church) but this was perfect ---I understand Rhett winning with "Die a happy man" but the pop sound, outside of this, was completely shut out this year. This was the most "country" this show has been in a long time ---Not a single shot of Sam Hunt. Good news from that end. ---Outside of some craptastic performances like Thomas and Luke most of the other stuff was great. Even Beyoncé and Dixie Chicks had a country and soul flare that was nice.

V. disappointed that Carrie didn't win.
But I'm much more concerned with what has happened to Taylor's hair. Since the Calvin breakup, it's been a mess.

Just a shame that she may never get a nomination in Entertainer again. I mean, maybe she'll come back with her biggest album yet and win it... but in the words of Dierks Bentley, "it's different for girls". She's raising a family now... she can't possibly devote as much time and energy in an album era as she did this time. I hope I'm wrong, but wow. I cannot believe Garth stole this award based on his legend and nothing more.

Guys, it was an awesome night and always a pleasure sharing thoughts with everybody in here
Even with a few missteps, this was a GREAT ceremony in my opinion, SO MANY highlights for me like the opening nostalgic number, Dolly's beautiful tribute, Maren bringing us to church, Miranda ROCKING the stage, Little Big Town killer harmonies,... and some really great winners like Maren getting Best New Artist and the Brothers Osborne surprise win!
But of course, seeing the Dixie Chicks back on the CMA stage was the moment of the night for me for a very personal reason. I became a country music fan because of these 3 women, 16 years ago, after their 2000 Grammy Awards performance... seeing them today was like going back to that overexcited eleven year-old boy again! Unforgettable!

I just glad it is finally over , wasn't that impressed with it overall, instead of tributes, they should let the singer sing instead and if going to have the legends on , let them do the whole song and why did the Dixie Chicks have Beyonce, come on they are the Dixie Chicks , they don't need anybody else.

This is just going to push Carrie to work ten times harder (not that she should have to). I foresee her best album yet and her first arena/stadium tour in 2017/2018.

She said the first thing she would do after her supersuccessful tour, STORYTELLER TOUR, was new album. With her lost EOTY to WME Garth and looked so dissappointed, i bet she will work even harder next era. An album as intense and full of hits ala BA is coming to our way. And also i have a feeling she will try one or two stadium for the next era.

That + the success of "H.O.L.Y." and "May We All." I think that the FGL boys have definitely solidified their spot in the genre. They're here to stay and not going anywhere anytime soon, and people should probably just accept it at this point. I'm just glad they've released two singles back-to-back that I can say that I not only liked, but that I've loved. So right now they're not bothering me at least, lol.

But when I am talking about demise and "flying the coup" in this instance I am talking about being the front runner, top dog. That's sailed in a much shorter time span than other acts. A comparable zone is I think in the next year they will be more into the mold of what Rascal Flatts is currently. Success? sure. Superstardom and elite status in the genre? It will pass them in short time. The sound they created is something that isn't sustainable long term. They have had to change their sound a bit but it will wear. Will have to adapt to stay long term relevant. They probably have a few more years left but not at the level they were 3 years ago.

Nah, they're definitely not headed in the Rascal Flatts direction anytime soon. I'm just not really following your line of thinking here because they're still without a doubt the biggest duo in country music. Losing the award to Bros Osborne changed nothing in that department... it just proves that like Luke Bryan, the industry recognizes them as being a style over substance act and the fact that they won as many awards as they have in the past couple years is just because they were too big to ignore. I'm not really sure how they didn't win tonight and I'm still surprised by it, but it's definitely not a death knell for FGL in the slightest. Their time as front-runners has not sailed... I mean, Bros Osborne won the award but they're struggling to even make the Top 20 with the follow-up to their one hit to date.

What a great award show! I cant remember the last time I saw so many great performances. I thought some the standout performances were Tim, Miranda, George & Alan, LBT, Brad, and the Dolly tribute was amazing. It was so great to see some of the older artists back on the CMA stage for the first time in a long time, I especially enjoyed Clint Black, Charlie Pride, Dwight Yoakam, and Charlie Daniels, also great to see Randy Travis. As much as I love Eric Church I thought he sounded a little rough tonight, Vince Gill also sounded rough. By far the worst performance of the night was Luke Bryan. Lastly, I'm a big Garth fan, but I feel like he's had his run at award shows and it should be someone else's turn. He won his 5th Entertainer trophy tonight and Carrie has never won it and now may not ever get to win one.

The lack of a mention was surprising, but I don't see why Joey deserved a tribute. Did the duo ever have a true hit song? Depends on your definition of a hit. When a nominee for the show passes, you say something. Simple. I don't want to sound insensitive but I don't even understand how they were nominated over Big & Rich. It's sad that she died but that doesn't mean you should just be given a nomination. Big & Rich have had 3 top 10 hits and you never know if they will get another chance.

Truly a fantastic show right up until the very last few minutes. I mean it is an actual travesty that Garth won. He was in no way shape or form the Entertainer of this year. This was Carrie's but he had to have it. Hell, Luke should have finished before him. A disgrace. I've never liked him, he's arrogant and fake and always has been. As much as he tries to look humble, he's quite the attention whore. Sorry rants over, but he truly f***ed this night up.

First off, let me just say I am really proud to be a country music fan. It's been a big part of my life, and last night was a lot of the reasons why. I thought the show was great. Best CMA telecast in recent memory, for sure. I knew they would go big for the 50th, and they did very well. Here are some of my thoughts and random notes below
- Loved the legends being there, should be an every year thing honestly. I think a few were missing, could be for any unknown reason: Hank Jr, The Judds, Ronnie Milsap, Don Williams just to name a few. It would have been very fitting to have Lacy J. Dalton sing "16th Avenue".
- The intro performance was AWESOME. All those legends and medley of hits. I wish each one of them could have gotten a longer performance slot, but nonetheless, awesome. Charlie Daniels sawing a fiddle. Ricky Skaggs getting down to "Country Boy". So awesome
- I didn't have an issue with many of the awards, I predicted Song, Single and Album. They were fitting. Eric's album was so good. I agree with most, ZBB should have won Group, but I think LBT is poised for an even bigger year. "Better Man" may do better for them then "Girl Crush" did.
- Brothers Osborne winning Duo was a complete shock. I think they were in disbelief as well. Couldn't be any more proud to hail from the same small town. I just wish they would have name dropped in their speech LOL. #SoCo
- The Dolly tribute was fantastic. All the women did very well, and they all looked amazing too.
- LOL at Luke Bryan. *sigh*
- I actually enjoyed Garth and Trisha's duets medley. I LOVED the Keith Whitley inclusion, even though they kept panning to Lorrie Morgan, who was visibly upset. Keith deserves more credit (and a movie )
- Jason Aldean actually didn't sound bad singing with Brooks & Dunn.
- There is something about Natalie Maines I cannot stand...the hairdo doesn't help.
- Didn't know why Beyoncé was there, she literally draws the biggest eye roll from me everytime she is mentioned. And the way people bow down to her is really strange, and overrated. Having said that, her performance actually wasn't bad. THANK GOD she didn't do that eardrum bleeding "Put A Ring On It" song and its Nintendo back track. Thank you Jesus
- Seeing "Seven Spanish Angels" performed on live TV made my night. Always been a favorite of mine.
- Side note, did anyone else notice that the mic's seemed to be off last night? Something was definitely weird. Kelsea Ballerini sounded HORRIBLE, Vince Gill sounded like he had a cold. I thought everyone else came off flat (Karen Fairchild did at times). I got to thinking it had to do with microphones, acoustics in the venue, the TV pick up or something. It was almost every performance. Also, LOL at the guy who kept laughing very loudly and over-the-top at every Brad and Carrie joke. He was standing right behind them during the opening monologue. The microphone picked him up every time, clear as day.
Overall, a great night of country music.

I am pretty sure that they have one of the top three selling country albums this year.

Although the ending sucked, last night was an amazing night for country music! The performances were great, and the winners were spread out nicely... I so, so wish Carrie walked away with the big one, but everything happens for a reason. It's bittersweet - I want to be ecstatic that she won an award, but when you're that close to the big one and lose it, it takes away from the others. This is especially true considering she really deserved it and had a real shot. Garth won based on old music and 50th anniversary sentiment. I think it should be absolutely required to have new music out to be eligible for Entertainer of the Year, he won only based on his tour of old music, ugh... I went to his show back in 2015 and it was amazing - I'm a lifelong Garth fan, but he did not deserve this award based on all the metrics. I think something seriously needs to be changed in the voting system; no one management group should have so much power. I think all but two winners are WME clients, that's crazy! I mean, this year the winners were actually deserving (for the most part), but that's merely timing and coincidence. I'm not sure what can be done, but this issue really needs to be addressed. Garth being WME has everything to do with how/why he won - and that sucks because it just shouldn't have happened...
I hate that I'm upset even though Carrie won an award! If you look at her pictures on the post-CMA carpet thing, it appears as if she had been crying - I might be looking too far into it, but I just noticed something off. At the end of the broadcast it was clear Carrie and Brad were both devastated, I think Brad was convinced Carrie had it, and I think Carrie felt good about her chances too. Just sucks. The woman is the hardest working person in the genre, and that's not an overstatement. She literally does it all - this award was hers and she was robbed. I just hope and pray she has the opportunity to be nominated again; it's so much harder for women and I'm terrified she may never have a shot at a nomination again. She's had such an amazing and illustrious career and just one piece is missing, a CMA EOTY trophy! Ugh... I'm done, just had to vent. I'm sure most of you knew it was coming...
