well, at least Cold Water is outgaining Closer on airplay...Closer is looking to have a 75%-80% lead over Cold Water this week (partially thanks to the VMA's of course, so it should be a much smaller gap on 9/24). But in any case, Cold Water is gonna need a hell of a music video BEFORE the one for Closer comes out. I really want CW to sneak in a week at #1. This is already its 4th week at #2 and I don't want it to be the next I Don't Wanna Know :/

Closer - 220k - 50,100
Cold Water - 55k - 30,100
So there is a 0% chance Closer will not be #1!

I have Closer at 59.5k points Closer's data: Sales- 221,000 (22,100 points) Airplay- 57,000,000 (5,700 points) Streams- 24,280,000 (24,300 points) That equals 50,100. I was slightly off. |

I have Closer at 59.5k points Closer's data: Sales- 221,000 (22,100 points) Airplay- 57,000,000 (5,700 points) Streams- 24,280,000 (24,300 points) That equals 50,100. I was slightly off. sales - 225,000 (25,000 points, wasn't it sales/9 not sales/10?) airplay - 70,000,000 (7,000 points) streams - 33,000,000 (27,500 points) you're severely underestimating its streaming lol anyway, we'll leave it to ravi so we don't get warnings |

Nielsen's numbers are usually around 80% of what you find on Kworb/Mediabase. But the 60M they have in the article is the Nielsen airplay number and that's what they count. I think you misunderstood MTS. |

It's apparently Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers. He co-wrote the song as well.

Kind of off topic but whoever The Chainsmokers collab with next is most definitely going to be a big artist. A song peaking at 6, 4 and one of the biggest songs of the year with Closer, makes them a legit force now IMO. It's gonna be Rihanna, calling it now.

What I like about their streak right now is that they weren't relying on mega stars. Rozes, Daya, and Halsey are all little-known artists (the latter 2 had minor hits but they certainly aren't at the mega-star level). It's meant that the songs had to be good and speak for themselves to become hits rather than relying on star power, which I appreciate. |

@markg94 if I bump up Closer's airplay and streams then I get this:
Closer - 221 - 74 (assuming it gains 2 mil AI a day) - 34 = 63,900
So that means either way, Closer will be a god this week and will probably peak with 75k+ points. But most of this is VMAs, but Closer would've gotten a lot of sales even without the VMAs, and with gains in AI it could not be at its stronghold with 65k points.
But there's no way Closer will be the Candle in the Wind of 2016. Not happening.
