"El Dorado by our Latin Pop Queen Shakira has reached 10 billion streams and is now the most streamed female album. "
I saw people talking about this stat on Twitter. I didn't find much info on it to see if it's accurate, but it seems that it is since in mid 2018 "El Dorado" was in the top 5 most streamed female albums. With the tour happening and "El Dorado" reaching 10 billion streams, it seems the stat is accurate.
Shakira having the most streamed female album of all time is quite impressive, especially since she made her debut in 1995 with "Pies Descalzos".

I'm still waiting on that next English album. She's had the most luck collaborating with males. A duet with her and Justin Bieber could work. Something like "Chantaje" but with Justin instead of Maluba.

Shakira has a finished English album that Live Nation wants to release this year. We'll see what happens. They likely will just record a few new songs to be sure the album sounds current. It's up to Shakira though, so I except nothing for at least another year.

The new album is reportedly called "El Dora2", which is the laziest sh#t I've read in a while.

She's not interested in investing a significant amount of her time into her career anymore. She's all about her family nowadays. We'll get music, videos and short tours... that's it. Due to the success of the "El Dorado Tour" Live Nation wanted another leg, which of course never happened since it would need to be approved by Shakira.

Unless it's a remix album (which judging by her recent work ethic it actually could be) Why not? It's likely going to have "Clandestino" and a few other songs that she already recorded. Last I heard, they already have a finished English album for her to release this year. They probably will just add a few new tracks (maybe some duets). I don't think Shakira cares all that much since she will likely just record some videos in Spain and do no promo for it, just like she did with the first ED. The goal of the project is likely to focus on streaming. They will likely promote it on social media. She was the #1 female on youtube for 2017 & 2018. With a social media following of that size, she only needs to release her videos on YT, post links on FB, Twitter & Instagram, then wait for people to stream the music on their own.

I mean, when you consider a big part of her success was latching onto a much more popular artist. Also, per Youtube, overall she was #23 artist for 2018 with 3.4 billion views. Natti Natasha was #12 with 4.3 billion views in 2018. So no, she wasn't the #1 female artist on Youtube in 2018.

The other source said she was #1 with 2.89 billion. So, the youtube list you listed might have a different criteria to compile the list. Various sources have her as #1 for 2018. Regardless though, whether 1 or 2, what matters is that at her age she's still competitive on the streaming charts. Dueting with a hot artist helps a lot of the aging divas. If it helps, why not do it? Rumor is that they are trying to get Justin Bieber for a duet with Shakira. We'll see what she ends up doing. A lot of the ED success is because of Shakira. Maluba isn't going around selling out 90,000 seat stadiums two nights in a row. Maluba helped her, but it's not the main reason she was successful.

Yeah because artists never inflate their own stats and unverified Twitter pages are always reliable

And you conveniently forgot to mention that Natti, despite being a much newer artist than Shakira, has collaborations in all her top videos.... I mean, congrats to her too!! But that doesn’t discredit any one bit that after 20 years of mainstream career Shakira is still one of the top 3 streamed female artists. However you slice it, that’s huge!

I don't think anyone can even argue that she is not killing it. A lot of people came and went and Shakira is still here. She charts. She gets the hits. She goes viral every now and then.
I would like a little more creativity on the projects though.

Hopefully eventually we get the boxscore from her two shows at the 90,000 Azteca stadium:
Shakira - Estadio Nacional, Santiago - Chile 50,282 / 50,282 (100% - sold out) $ 4,075,795 DG Medios y Espetaculos

I had to bump this thread because this gem came on shuffle:
I LOVE these classic Shakira lyrics:
I remember all the times before When we could spend our living Staring at the ceiling, lying on the floor My vocabulary wasn't broad I spoke so little English And the words transferred Sound like something odd
and isn't the melody, of the pre-chorus especially, to die for?
One of my all time favorites by Shakira. ❤️

Just announced on Facebook that the El Dorado Tour movie will be live in theaters on November 13. Assume they'll be releasing it for sale as well

Should've taken a page out of Taylor Swift's book and put it on Netflix instead. I bet way more people would watch there (like me!).

I’m surprised by how many movie theaters are showing the movie: www.shakira.film/Shakira in Concert: El Dorado World Tour, which was filmed at The Forum in Los Angeles, will premiere in more than 2000 theatres in over 60 countries, for a one-night event on November 13 with encore screenings in select locations.

Years ago they showed the Oral Fixation tour in movie theaters, but it was a very small amount of theaters. That's why this tour being shown in 2000 theaters and in 60 countries is impressive, relative to Shakira and other 90s pop stars.

According to E!, there are currently strong rumors that Shakira will perform during Superbowl 2020. Supposedly, she was in Miami for several weeks to negotiate the halftime performance. She has to be up to something because it's very difficult to get her to leave Spain.
Miami is a Shakira hot spot, so it makes sense.

I love Shakira but I don’t think she’s right for the halftime show. She hasn’t had a truly memorable performance in years and I feel like she has been super lazy while performing in recent years. You can’t entertain for 12 minutes just by moving your hips on a stage. But then maybe she’s eager again for success and is about to reinvent herself and I will be proven wrong. Who knows.

I like Shakira but do people in the US even know her songs? I think I can name 3 songs in total.

You can’t entertain for 12 minutes just by moving your hips on a stage. But then maybe she’s eager again for success and is about to reinvent herself and I will be proven wrong. Who knows. I'm sure that for something this big she would try to put on her best performance. They will also add backup dancers - she usually does for big performances. I'm sure we wouldn't get typical Shakira, if she agrees to it she'll try to put on the performance of her career. I know she hasn't' been motivated lately, but her kids are now older. This would be the time to attempt to make a return that feels fresh. We'll see. Also, while being "lazy" she still soldout gigantic stadiums in Latin America and an arena tour in the US & Europe. Zero promo, zero media (other than social media posts) and it soldout. If lazy Shakira can do that, active Shakira can definitely put on a great show. But yeah, it depends alot on how motivated Shakira is. Back when she was being lazy, its because she wanted to raise her kids and the label wanted her to keep going. Now they are old enough that I feel she can make a real return where she actually invests enough time to put out something creative. Because of the touring money, the label is salivating at the thought of Shakira making a big mainstream return. This superbowl performance could be exactly what they want, that's if they can get Shakira to care. I think she will.
