LOL...could you imagine top 40 playing Celine Dion? If this happened it will be the biggest surprise in years. If you though 'Before He Cheats' going top ten was impossible...imagine this scenario!

I don't see why they wouldn't, she has been played for years now. I don't think she will go top 10 or anything, but they will play her. I think now that one "diva" had a come back they will be more willing to give her a shot. PLUS the song is very radio friendly and sounds like something off of Breakaway. Who knows?

They should release the song and not reveal the artist. Let the listeners decide on the song, not the name.
But, in all seriousness, is this even going to get a pop adds date?

They should release the song and not reveal the artist. Let the listeners decide on the song, not the name. That sounds like a REALLY good idea. Although her voice is recognizable......

So I'm not a fan of Celine, but I've loved a couple of her songs. I didn't think I'd ever get excited about a project of hers but here I am. Freaking STOKED about this song and the album. I hope she brings is and scores a top 10. Lol, it'll show all the Madonna fans that screamed ageism that it was just the material, not the woman. Celine's voice has always been an instrument, we all know that, I just hope it blends with the state of modern music. That said, with the song she's covering, I think they know what they're doing. That song is catchy and modern, but also will do well with a Celine flare to it. Bravo. Hopes for good things.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people start topics in the CHR/Pop forum first. It's like a default forum or something. I'd say AC first, then maybe make a Hot AC topic if there's any action on the radio format, or a release date, and then pop.

And for other comparisons, Mariah & Jlo are both 37. Madonna is 49.

They should release the song and not reveal the artist. Let the listeners decide on the song, not the name. Donny Osmond did that with Soldier of Love and it became a top 5 hit.

From the short little 30 second clip, I don't see TC going to much further than AC, but who knows. I guess I'll see if the song shows up next on any format's most added- though of course it will get at least 25 on AC.

I heard this a couple of afternoons ago on NYC's WLTW...as far as I can tell, it's a typical Kara DioGuardi song, and Celine Dion's phrasing mirrors DioGuardi's in that YouTube performance. Obviously, Dion's vocals have more power behind them.
I don't know. I'm kind of meh on the song, and Dion's performance elevates it to "pleasant" in my book. One of the problems for me is the problem I have with a lot of DioGuardi co-written songs -- there's nothing specific or personal to ground the song, to make it seem like it had to be Celine Dion's. It's probably a good lead single choice though. It's something AC radio can latch onto because the sound is very familiar, and that may be what Dion needs to drive sales.

On Mediabase 55 CELINE DION Taking Chances 2007 Sony BMG 21 0 21 1.756
and I think 5 stations. The good sign to me is audience, if the chart was like the Country chart, Celine would be in the top 20 already. And since almost all the songs with big audiences are crossover hits, I think Celine's audience is an even better sign.
I also noticed that insted of Epic, her label is Sony BMG, does this mean Sony might promote her?

I think she'll debut on next Thursday's chart, while at the same time going for adds.
I was hoping she would have a monster debut the week after TC went for adds, I remember ANDHC debut at #12, and I think HYEBIL debut around #20. Maybe she can still debut at a fairly high number so that Sony will release on HOT AC and POP.
