The finale of the song is it's only real redeeming part imo, it's not bad but kind of is a drag for a good portion of the song

Okay, Austin, the good graces period after the reveal of "When I'm Gone" is over. :kii:
Man, I love this song. Snow Patrol has two really, REALLY good ballads, and this is one of them. Probably not more of a favorite than the other one, but still...wonderful.

This would have been in top 25 for me if it was in 2016 Rankdown. Shows how strong 06 is, or how weak 16 is.

The finale of the song is it's only real redeeming part imo, it's not bad but kind of is a drag for a good portion of the song That's probably why I used to not like this song and find it overrated. Being in love has made me find a big appreciation for this song, it is really relatable.

Well at least one JT song made the top 10! And no bottom 20s for this song is nice considering how much hate this was getting.
Seriously, the FutureSex/LoveSounds era is so awesome. I can't wait for the 2007 RD where my favorite JT song ("What Goes Around...Comes Around") will be in the list!!

Alright, so here's why "Chasing Cars" is my #99.
-The lead vocalist's voice is something made explicitly for children's lullabies and nothing more. You guys know I hate Chris Martin's voice, right? Well, the lead singer of this band's voice makes his sound like a god to me.
-Each verse and chorus has, like, ten words stretched over what feels like a period of 5 minutes for each damn section of the song. Why? Why are there such long pauses? Do you think we need to reflect on what he just said? The lyrics aren't that deep or moving, fam.
-The same two notes from the piano just never fucking stop playing.
-This song is used in every fucking television show to convey sadness. Grey's Anatomy alone has probably played this on average 5 times per season. But, like, the song isn't even that sad. It's a love song. Why? Why, American television? Why?
-2006 was a period in which the only ways I listened to music was through the radio or some sort of CD player. At that time, I did not yet own an MP3 or iPod/Zune/smartphone. I listened to ~7 stations in my area while growing up. Two were hot ACs, 1 was an AC, 1 rhythmic, 1 pop, and 2 country. This was played on ALL of them except the 2 country ones. "Yeah, so what?" you might be asking. Naw, they didn't just play it, the WHORED it. There was a period of 4-5 months in 2006 where if you turned the radio on at any given time, one of those seven stations was playing this wretched song. Specifically, our local pop station played it so damn often they even had a fucking intro for it. It was a group of people shouting Snow Patrol over and over. Why? I don't know. I never once heard anyone in real life ever talk about this pile of garbage. This might actually be the most overplayed song I've ever had the misfortune to experience... and 2006 also has "Hips Don't Lie"!
-VH1 also whored this song to death. I don't remember much about the video because if it came on, I always turned it off. What I do remember, though, is him laying on the floor in front of an escalator or stairs or some shit*. What a ridiculous image. I hope someone trampled him.
The only reason it's my #99 and not my #100 is because at least, in a perfect world where this wasn't whored out like the prized prostitute of the 2006 music industry, it might have gotten the opportunity to grow on me, unlike "You're Beautiful," which I know never would have done so.
*This might be wrong, this was of course 11 years ago.
On the flip side, "My Love" is one of those cases where I actually grew to somewhat tolerate the song as I got older. "Chasing Cars" has only gotten worse as the years fly by.

Yea I think that you just confirmed that your 90 is my 46. Which is my 2nd lowest song remaining. It should be out soon. I doubt that it will win.

Number 1 rankers, do you realize that this is from 2005? and not really 2006? That said, I still underranked it by A LOT, since I love this song.

And there goes my final top 10. This rankdown has probably been my worst but there's always time for me to do even worse.
