Not that great of a start at all for an established artist. If it can't hit 30 by Friday, I don't see this doing much.

Really nice looking tracklist. Artist now a days are dropping tracks like flies, so I'm not going to guess the next single, but "Headphones", "Kamikaze" and especially "Tiger Teeth" all sound ,like interesting song titles.

Going back a few years now but I used to love Anna Sun. They're really good with these fun, upbeat songs.

Just hearing this for the first time. I predict Top-5 hit on at least three formats. Will easily cross over to CHR and HAC.

Whut?? No, no, no. More like the love child of Adam Ant and Passion Pit. LOL This really reminds me of if American Authors and Imagine Dragons had a baby. I don't hate the song, but man those high notes and weird noises are annoying as hell. This is super duper poppy and that goofy dance the singer is doing is along with the guitarists rocking out like this is a hard rock song is quite amusing. American Authors + Imagine Dragons is giving me the chills for how bad that would be. It would be like a modern version of Spin Doctors and Smash Mouth combined for something 20 years ago. Which if that happened everyone would have died.

Having listened to this song twice, it's really generic, but I can't say I dislike it. It's pleasantly catchy, which is all I really expect from this band. Then again, I think Smash Mouth and the Spin Doctors are over-hated, so my opinion might not count for much.

I think this is pleasant enough. It doesn't really break any new ground, but it's still enjoyable.

Sales are dropping, so I don't think it's gonna be another Shut Up And Dance - I still can't decide if the chorus works for me or not

Good for them - dont try to sound like their only hit (which was the only thing from them i liked) and rather try to sound like everything else on the alt chart.
Also, the verses remind me of Party In The U.S.A., prolly not what they were going for.

I finally listened to this and I'm really surprised there's so much backlash to this. It's a natural progression in their sound and this is only about as poppy as Shut Up and Dance imo, it's not like this is a complete sellout song or anything. Besides Tightrope I haven't really been able to get behind any of their singles up until now, but I actually like this a good deal. That chorus is super catchy.
Now that I heard the song, I'm gonna predict this will peak at #3 on alternative, peak between #15 and #30 on HAC depending how sales end up and how much of a push it gets, and maybe scrape the top 40 on CHR if this does okay on HAC. I dunno, these guys' sound doesn't fit the state of CHR as well as it did a few years ago, and I can't see CHR embracing a band that's perceived as "one hit wonders" by the GP.

This song has an unusual structure because it sort of has two separate choruses. The lyrical chorus comes before the musical chorus -- meaning, the lyrics that make up what would structurally be considered the chorus are sung/performed more like they're just another verse or maybe a bridge, and then the big musical crescendo that one would normally associate with sounding like the chorus doesn't actually have any lyrics. I wonder if this non-traditional structure will make it harder to cross over to CHR and HAC. CHR likes it formulas, after all. Shut Up and Dance had a very traditional verse-chorus structure.

This is no different then the structure of many EDM pop songs, and even some others. They're gonna have an uphill battle in terms of making this a pop hit, but it sure won't be because of this.

The problem with that, is you don't need to progress when you already got it right. Would you call what is happening to Muse progression in their sound? I would call it regression.

Muse is different since it sounds like some of their older stuff, it's just a lackluster copy of it. Think about it this way, would you rather have this or would you rather have a mediocre ripoff of Shut Up and Dance? It's not like this would be too out of place on their last album either.

this annoyed me on a first listen (the high-pitched synth sounds in the chorus especially), but I've heard it a few more times and can't deny how infectious and catchy it is. I agree it's not going to have an easy road to Pop radio but it should have no problem getting close to #1 on Alt.

You should know me better than that. I think I would rather have "Shut Up and Dance" part two. Just change the riffs up a bit, but keep the basic Pop rock guitar sound intact. Anyway, In there defense; they did have a few songs that had this "Foot Job" vibe on their last record, but I didn't care for those tracks at all. Which is the reason, I don't care for this one either.

Honestly when I heard it I didn't really like it I am literally drinking a beer right now as we speak and this is on at the bar, this song is absolutely garbage. It really is a hot mess, the pre-chorus seriously hurts my ears with the possible howling and killing of a bad guy noise from Castlevania in the 90s. Also did we have to put the “hey!” In the song too. Dumb. That is all.

With all the grumbling about this song I expect it'll be a big hit. It's undeniably catchy. Plus it's being played at bars already so looks like a good sign.
