1998 is my favourite year in country music by far. I will definitely do this. (I was 14 then - but so not super old, but older than I'd rather admit lol).

I was 13 in 1998 and it was the first year that I liked Country for the entirety of the year. I started listening to Country in August of 1997 so a lot of the biggest hits of that year had already been out by the time I got into it. This is the year my favorites started to take shape, mainly Martina McBride. This was the year I bought the Evolution album and after the CD was stolen for me I bought it a second time because no way was I not having a copy of the CD. Country was just amazing that year. Wish todays Country was more like 1998 Country tbh

Coupled with If You See Him, Where Your Road Leads, Faith and Come On Over, a country fan was never happier lol.

Going to try to do this, so keep reminding me. I probably don't know half these songs considering I was 5 in 1998, so all the listening might take a while, but I will try to get through it.

Can't wait for this! Not sure where "Matches" will end up on my final ranking but it was always one of my favorites from 1998.

You Move Me ~ Garth Brooks*No audio available on YouTube* since "You Move Me" is easily one of my least favorite songs Garth has ever done I really want to remove the song but figured it was one of the bigger hits of the year so left it in. If you don't feel like looking it up or have no way to listen to it then rank it at 100, it is what he deserves for being so stupid when it comes to streaming

I just have to say, I am really enjoying listening to the songs for this rankdown so far What a strong year this was! The songs I already know are for the most part among the best from their artists, and the ones I am discovering are mostly very solid! But Jesus Christ, how many songs can Garth Brooks chart in one year? We haven't even had half the songs revealed yet and we already have 5 Garth songs!

I always really enjoyed David Kersh and have long wondered what made him up and leave the industry (I also admittedly had a small crush on him lol). I did get a chance to see him live when he was on tour with Reba and Brooks & Dunn in 1998 (Terri Clark was also on tour with them). I really liked "There Goes My Baby" back then, but it's one of those songs that hasn't necessarily aged well for me so I'm not sure where it's going to end up in my ranking yet. So many Garth songs, so little room at the bottom of my list... I wish I could say there were not 3 more Garth songs but... I was going to say there's still another Garth song from 1998 that'll likely end up doing quite well in the randown ;)

On a similar note, will we need to rank the Shania and Bryan White version of FTMO or either one? I despise the duet but love the solo.

For that one you can rank it on the version you like better since both were played at the same time when it was charting. There is another duet that is on here that has a solo version but that one i would prefer everyone to rank the duet version only, will clarify which song that is when it comes up
