This song is way more catchy than Look What You Made Me Do, Ready For It and End Game. Those three songs sounded weird and unfinished, they really didn't have hook to grab onto and the music itself didn't lend itself to multiple listens (even though I love all those songs). I Did Something Bad is an actual song, it follows the verse-hook-verse-bridge-hook and has some actual rhythm. I remember last year when radio stations around the country were playing all the tracks from Reputation to promote Taylor's tour, you listen in and text a certain number and hope that you get tickets. This song and Delicate got some of the best reception out of all the tracks. Ready for it had one of the best hooks in Taylor career I agree. But it didn't flow. Just when it got melodic and easy to sing to, it stops unto that trap-ish beat. Take out those breaks and I think the song becomes a legit hit. That chorus.

Honestly, with all the publicity and hype, I thought this would climb up the iTunes chart - it’s not like it takes a lot to leap frog into Top 20 - especially after an old, tired song like Havana did it after AMAs.
I suppose a buzzworthy video and a rap remix version could have an impact.

A rent-a-rapper remix would help tremendously tbh.

But then again, most people already have her album... True, and not many people tuned in either. Unless I missed something, nobody really made their way into the upper reaches of the iTunes chart from their performance. Lots of movement in the lower ranges where it's easier to move with minimal downloads. As for the performance, I thought it was great. I just thought that the song was a bit patchy and the verses got buried. If it were my first time hearing it, I'm not sure I'd even like it. But I think it's a great track on the album. Curious to see how it performs as a single.

I've always thought that Cardi B was a fairly obvious fit for this. Considering her label fought her for going too Pop with GLY, she would probably turn this one down though.

A Katy Perry remix could have done wonders.

No remix, please. Just let this ride out and end the era, because I seriously doubt this will do much more than "...Ready for It?" and "End Game." (Actually, I feel it perform similarly to "New Romantics" or "Out of the Woods.") And after this, I don't think anything else could really pick up the pace. Even the hit that never was, "Call It What You Want," wouldn't be able to survive being a sixth single after "I Did Something Bad."
And definitely no remix because even with a remix, I don't see this performing all too well. (Pun not intended.)

Cardi featuring on this considering her shoe-throwing incident would be too perfect. lol
What's going on with this? Are they expecting it to take off on radio on its own due to a single AMA performance?

I thought her performance at the AMAs was good but I do not like this song at all.
Why would they not release Getaway Car? That’s a classic Taylor smash.

With her no promo strategy this era, and no major award shows until January... it might get ugly. Delicate became a hit because it was THAT song. I like this but it's not on the same level.

With a huge video it could do decently well but otherwise I think it'll struggle to do much and probably be a New Romantics sized hit.

I don't even support this as a single, but if we got a shit rap remix and lost the "Light me up!" part, I'd be seething.

I think so too.. I don't think there has even been any plan whatsoever for a 5th single. She was probably given the performance slot due to the number of nominations and the fact that she was going to win many of them..

So could it have just been digitally serviced in a "hey, I know my performance was pretty awesome and some people might request my song now, so here's a copy if you want to play it" type deal? But she's not going to do anything beyond that to encourage radios to play it or officially make it a single? Is that a thing that happens sometimes, digitally serviced but not released as a single? If so, then hopefully it means she won't make us wait too long before releasing new content.

Someone who's more knowledgable might be able to speak more to this, but I think there's a difference between being digitally serviced and going for adds, so I guess it's possible that a song is digitally serviced but not released as a single. I can't really think of any examples off the top of my head though, I'm sure there must've been some songs.

A quick look at Cool New Music under AllAccess will show you all the songs actively being promoted to pop, meaning they've been serviced, but a good 15-20% of them have never gotten adds dates. I would personally still classify that as being a single, especially if they also received a high profile televised performance, mainly since there have been successful songs to not receive adds dates but be digitally serviced, but I would understand the argument for otherwise.

I think it's more giving PD's a choice to play or not. This is well after Delicate's peak and I am sure Taylor just performed at the AMA's to capitalize on her award sweep (won all four of her nominations), to give the album a bit of a bump, and because she knew it would be her last opportunity to attend one for a good while (as she stated). If they had every intention of pushing this, this late in the game, they would definitely be selecting an adds date: it's not like the beginning of the era where hype would send the potential hinted single up the charts.

Still hearing Delicate a hundred billion times a day, my pop station hasn't spun this song once. Funny enough my station spun Ready For It last night, yes Ready For It has more spins on pop currently than this song that was supposedly delivered almost a week ago.
