Not really surprised. And people thought Timberlake would flop.

I like that he released the new album in time for Superbowl maximizing the exposure. Hoping for BIG pure sales as well and I think he is the type of artist who can still command big sales

^I guess there's a lot of uncertainty this early on, so my guess is they'll have some ballpark figures by Monday to the Superbowl performance. Inviting Chris Stapleton to perform can only help the album's performance.

I believe sales alone won't get him even remotely close to 1m so it's all about SPS

1 million big or 500k big? In this day and age, getting 100K is big. It's still blows my mind that P!nk opened with 400K+ and keeps selling without a truly major hit - just saturating HAC/AC airplay and key award show performances. JT has a pretty loyal and broad base. It remains to be seen whether Filthy's sudden stop at Pop will hamper the project's longevity.

She's still doing okay but her promo is absolutely insane: Grammys, AMAs, CMAs, VMAs, SNL, GMA, Corden, Kimmel, Fallon, Ellen, and more.

He's gonna have a big debut. Especially with the Superbowl on Sunday, his sales next week will probably be huge thoughout the week if he pulls off a strong performance.

Hmm not so great start on Spotify it seems.. The highest previously unreleased song is the title track (as expected) at #28
Globally it's #53, so it's safe to say that this album will polarize his success.

Very =300k+ hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=310380Saturday, February 3, 2018 NEW RELEASES: JT'S KICKOFFBased on early reads after one full day of sales, with extremely limited info available today, Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods (RCA) looks headed to the 300-350k range. Will his Super Bowl halftime performance tomorrow send the total to 400k or above? We’ll update on Monday with the initial reaction and then again on Tuesday when we’ve been able to see how physical sales (including his Target-exclusive deluxe CD and vinyl) react. Stay tuned.

300-350k without the SB boost is a good start.
Let's see how high they go after tomorrow's performance.

That sounds about right. In the end, I'm thinking about 450-500k in pure album sales. I don't know enough about SPS to estimate that total.
I really don't understand why they didn't do a tour bundle though.

Pretty decent numbers. It's 2018 and albums don't sell but he is coming off the biggest hit of his career with CSTF and his last album debuted at almost a million. Will be interesting to see how well this sells overall. I can definitely see him going platinum, anything beyond that would be surprising.

CSTF is not the biggest hit of JT's career.
I was expecting slightly over 200k as the initial prediction (not including the SB) after the reaction to Filthy and Supplies, so this is a great start as far as I'm concerned.
While he was obviously never going to get the opening of the first volume of The 20/20 Experience , that he pulled those numbers then off a hit that wasn't to the size of success of the pop juggernauts of the previous years, and then the opening of the second shortly after off of two tracks that stalled showed that he definitely had not only a core audience, but also an audience that was willing to wait.
Curious about how it might have been if SS had been the proper lead and had more exposure by now.

Still she has really been working it - it's like she's the 180 of Taylor during this era! JT is definitely working the media for Sunday - the controversy with the Prince Hologram certainly won't hurt.

CSTF is not the biggest hit of JT's career. What one of his songs did better on the charts than CSTF? I'm not talking about his signature song I'm talking purely chartwise. It charted the same as sexyback on the Billboard year-end charts and outpeaked its second year on the chart. It's his biggest hit in the UK, and from what I can tell charted higher and better in more countries than any of his other songs.

He's not coming into this era with no momentum is all I'm trying to say.

Any momentum that it would've given the album died out long ago.

Envoirment Strange, I always think when an artist is coming off a gigantic hit the next thing they release benefit from the positive attention of the huge hit. Obviously it's not the lead single but less than 2 years ago he released the biggest hit of the year, I don't think that it's crazy to say that helped his momentum coming into this era.
