I've really enjoyed this song for the past couple of months, probably my favorite Thomas Rhett song since "Die a Happy Man". He's not an artist where I can enjoy entire albums (I find his albums too inconsistent in terms of me liking and not liking certain tracks) but he sure does have some gems in them such as this one.
I really like how the verse and chorus progresses from 16 to 18 to 21 and not repeats of the same chorus over again (not that there's any problem with that since a huge majority of songs are like that, but for a song like this one I think the progression just adds so much).

Also I know it was a long shot with the chart freeze but I was kind of hoping to see Luke Bryan get his 27th top 10 to put him in a tie with Carrie Underwood. Also he would’ve had the first new top 10 of 2019!

I do not get why the label is so aggressively pushing for #1. This song has gained almost 500 spins the past 3 days and I feel like they are pushing to #1 more than they need to. I like the song, but I do not get why this song will be a 1000 bullet #1 when it was gonna hit #1 anyway this week.

I like the song, but I do not get why this song will be a 1000 bullet #1 when it was gonna hit #1 anyway this week. More likely just natural conversions since he was at relatively low levels of airplay for a #1 last week. Just go to Kworb's site and look at the Published + Recurrents chart under the "peak spins" and "peak audience" columns and you'll see what I'm talking about. Best Shot's peak numbers were 8645 spins and 53.802 audience impressions. Lose It was 8465 spins and 52.516 audience impressions. She Got the Best of Me was 9029 spins and 57.351 audience impressions. Blue Tacoma was 8900 spins and 55.749 audience impressions. Meanwhile, Thomas just passed 8000 spins and 50 million audience, so he has a lot more room to grow. This is mostly because most of his top 10 run was over Christmas when the charts didn't really move much so he didn't have time to naturally get powered up and move through the top 10 smoothly. I imagine Sixteen will spend a lot of weeks in the top 10 after it hits #1 since it's been a big hit and radio hasn't been able to give it the kind of heavy rotation it's given other recent big hits yet.

Heard on the radio today that Thomas Rhett's next album won't have any collaborations. I may have misheard, but it was because of how one of his last collaborations wasn't released as a single.
If I heard the reasoning correctly, it's probably due to "Drink A Little Beer" not getting released (even if I will never forgive Valory/Big Machine for never releasing either version of "Playing with Fire").

Yep. Like I suspected this one’s gonna be one and done and Dierks is pushing for #1 this week. This song is a lullaby to me but it’s an absolute robbery that such a monster hit is gonna get the same number of weeks at the top as a song that goes “I got it good girl cuz I got myself a good girl.”

Both were pretty even impact wise and given how monopolized the chart is nowadays the #1 spot essentially is a revolving door for the majority of the year.

But Sixteen is a fifth single, while Good Girl is a lead, so Dustin “should’ve” sold a lot more than Sixteen. And Thomas climbed to the top in about half the time Dustin took. Not to mention Dustin’s peak Mediabase audience was about three million lower than Thomas’ even with the big push GG seemed to get.

Right, but the radio charts are so manipulated these days so making #1 means less than it did say 10 years ago. So many lesser hits make #1 ans both songs did well enough to warrant #1. The top of the chart is a borderline assembly at this point to where songs spending a week at #1 that shouldn't have, or a song that only spent 1 week at #1 don't bug me anymore because of how manufactured the chart is. I get what you are saying even if I disagree with it. Hope you as well with me.

I guess I agree with that to some extent. It's still just a disappointing reality to grapple with. I'm also a little frustrated because the last two #1s have been two of my least favorite songs at country radio for the past half a year, so I would've liked to see a halfway decent song like this do a little better. But on the bright side, this hopefully clears the way for Burning Man, a truly phenomenal song, to get #1 this coming week.
