Considering the fact that she’s about 5 months pregnant, she sang the crap out of LW. I can’t wait for the CMA performance.

The Opry City Stage performance with its stripped down instrumentation was wonderful, and I'm not excited that this is a single at all with its platitude-y lyrics. And yes, considering she's fighting through a lot of pressure on her diaphragm and bladder, she sang the beejezzus out of it. Good for her. And you gotta know how much she's physically struggling when she wears flats!

Poor Carrie. :( I think we all knew something like this happened, based on what she's been saying and the songs we've heard.

Watching that video was absolutely heartbreaking, especially following all the incredible memories of her journey thus far.

That was a tough interview to watch. My heart was breaking for her. I'm glad she's back to having good fortunes again.

Wow. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to have to go out in public and put on a happy face while all of that was going on... Kudos to Carrie for being so strong.

I think this one will be much easier for Country radio to digest. Let's hope for a Top 3 peak.

THIS. IS. AWFUL.
Seriously, not even Martina McBleedingHeart had a choir sing along with her on over half the damn song. Is this a country-pop song or "We Are the World"?
The first verse is insanely manipulative. Hey, let's kill a kid IN THE FIRST LINE, that'll get the soccer moms crying! And after that, it's just a big pile of inspirational cliches ("we'll never fall if we walk hand in hand", "there will come a day", "will all fade away", "love's an open door" -- yeah, like we've never heard any of THOSE lines ten billion times before).

A song doesn't have to be void of cliche lyrics to work and be powerful: sometimes, even though the message is familiar, it bears repeating. I love it and that performance gave me chills. You can tell this song is meaningful to Carrie and she feels what she sings (look at the smile across her face as she belts it).
Cliched? Yes. Simplistic? Maybe. But the power behind it makes it work for me. I hope it hits the top.

Debuts at #34 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. Great debut, especially without hourly airplay! Is this getting the iHeart debut tomorrow?

I’m sure the very first thing the writers thought to do upon sitting down to write this was, “How do we combine a message of unity & love with something that carries the dilemma of gun violence in this country, in order to manipulate both situations for our own gain?” And lol, a choir is a choir. Simmer down. Whew.

A little conflicted on this one. Carrie has never sounded better, and the chorus is really catchy. On the other hand, the lyrics are pretty sappy and lame. I think this will do well for her though, and should easily surpass the performance of "Cry Pretty".

Ok so this was #50 on Mediabase yesterday with a bullet of 531 and today it's not in the top 50...the 'new' #50 song, Randy Houser's "What Whiskey Does", has a -14 bullet. How did "Love Wins" get pushed out of the top 50 by a song that's going backwards? The only thing I can think of is that perhaps Carrie got a tiny bit of hourly airplay on this song's first day at radio last week, but I wouldn't think that that would've had much of an effect on the song's MB updates this week, because if it did get a little pre-arranged airplay, it obviously wasn't much (the song had only 550 total spins in yesterday's MB update).

It was announced this morning that Carrie will be performing on the 2018 American Music Awards (October 9 at 8 ET on ABC), so (I'd fully believe that) another live performance of "Love Wins" is coming.

I’m sure the very first thing the writers thought to do upon sitting down to write this was, “How do we combine a message of unity & love with something that carries the dilemma of gun violence in this country, in order to manipulate both situations for our own gain?” Because everyone listening to this song has been on the wrong end of a gun at least once in their life, right? I know I can't even walk to McDonald's without someone pointing a gun at me. And what a message to send. "Oh, you're threatened by gun violence? Then just loooooooooooooove, it fixes everything and makes everything else feel so small. Just shower the shooter with love and everything will be rainbows and puppies and boys named Will dressed as bags of leaves." In all seriousness, the lyrics are so utterly banal and devoid of even the slightest hint of originality that I don't CARE what the motivation behind them was -- because it literally feels like they just chopped up a bunch of Hallmark cards and called it a day. If there was any thought put into this at all, then it sure as hell doesn't show in the final product. I had the same problem with "I Hope You Dance" and the 847 billion "Chicken Soup for the Soul" type songs just like it that came out in the early 2000s. Not a single one of them felt like it was written with purpose or thought. Her Jimmy Fallon performance literally on this page right above you. I found her performance emotionless and stilted, personally. I find the "big choir on the last verse" such an overdone cliche even on decent songs, because it's such an unoriginal way to make the song sound bigger. I hated when she did that on "Something in the Water", because the writers also chose to sample "Amazing Grace", the most cliched and overdone hymn in history (I'm a church organist; I actually know pastors and worship leaders who have told me they don't like "Amazing Grace" because it's horribly overdone). I'm surprise they didn't go even further and have the last chorus go up into a higher key, since that's literally the only "motivational power ballad" cliche missing here.

Goodness at the absolute microscopic dissection of this song. We have to be painstakingly literal and think Carrie is suggesting people just use "love" to avert a gun pointed at their temple. Yes, that is her message. And what idiot is looking to this song or Carrie for pointers on self-defense? So completely lost in the minutia at this point that it's becoming laughable.

Yes, that is her message. And what idiot is looking to this song or Carrie for pointers on self-defense? So completely lost in the minutia at this point that it's becoming laughable. Maybe if this song actually had a narrative instead of piling on the cliches, then I could give a better analysis. As I keep saying, the song is so bogged down in motivational cliches that, like "Little Toy Guns", it just gives up on its story less than halfway through the first verse. Seriously though, why the references to gun violence in the first verse? They seem disconnected from the rest of the song, unless that actually is the message she's trying to send.
