Very true. I guess I'm just aging out of this world. Lots of stuff just doesn't fit anymore, including modern country and modern radio, and modern perspectives on so many thing. Like Allan Jackson song says, I miss back when.

It's weird how radio seems resistant to her this era as compared to normal.
I know... it's like they just now realized Carrie is a woman

Carrie has been more vocal the last few years about country radio and women, particularly during this album promo where she said something that was basically akin to, "How do you tell little girls (that want to be country singers) to just work hard when country radio won't play them no matter what they do." So she could be seeing some backlash from that. But, Carrie is not stupid. She wouldn't have risked saying anything if she and her team were like, "Number 1's or bust!" So logic says if she's willing to risk her placement as the only woman radio will play to the top, then she's doing so consciously. And if she's feeling risky, then maybe she'll release riskier singles to radio once we get passed Love Wins. Regardless of which material is more palatable to radio or the public, I really want to see her release, as singles, the songs with the greatest artistic merit. That's been something she's done in the past -- leave the best songs as album cuts. Perhaps this era will be different in that regard.

Anyway, I see Carrie had a fantastic album sales first week and I'm sure that will help this song.

It's weird how radio seems resistant to her this era as compared to normal. Could the label switch be a factor? Not likely, because statistically Capitol Nashville has been the most successful label (in terms of radio success) for the last decade, if not farther back. I think Carrie will be fine. "Cry Pretty" was just too left field for country radio. I haven't heard "Love Wins" yet, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't get her back on track at country radio.

Worst case scenario she’ll be back on track with her next era I’d assume so I think she’ll be fine. “Love Wins” is super generic for Carrie and that *may* be holding it back a bit (and the fact that “Cry Pretty” wasn’t well-received) but that hasn’t stopped some other artists so... (sexism can very well be a factor in the reception of painfully generic songs too)

Yeah “Cry Pretty” had a length and maybe style that was a challenge for country radio, and now “Love Wins” has a message that is maybe a challenge for country radio. Plus it’s all from a female.

Plus, it seems like country radio as a whole only plays two-three females consistently at a time. Taylor Swift left the genre, radio has cooled on Miranda Lambert ("Vice" had kind of a similar run to "Cry Pretty") and that leaves Carrie as the only one standing from the previous big three. It looks like Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini and Carly Pearce are all ready to step into any of those voids. I wish radio would play all of them, but I'm not going to hold my breath either. All in all, we, myself included, are probably jumping to conclusions a little quick on "Love Wins" since it's only been out as a single for such a relative short time.

Did this ever get an adds date? The only thing I'll say is it really feels like her promo for this album launch has been relatively quiet compared to her other launches.

The song was sent to radio on the 11th and the official adds date was the 17th. Carrie got a pretty solid 52 adds last week, and it looks like she got another 15 adds this week.

I wouldn't say Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and Carly Pearce are all doing that much better. Maren Morris yes, but Kelsea Ballerini latest looks to have stalled just inside the Top 25 and it took Carly Pearce 10 months just to hit the Top 15 with "Hide The Wine". Maren Morris has done pretty well herself I will say with "Rich" looking like a potential future #1. I think the fact that Carrie Underwood album sold as well as it did its opening week will get radio back on this song after a little lackluster second week. I really think this past week was a fluke and I also think as a whole the whole "female" issue doesn't really apply to Carrie Underwood, it was just that "Cry Pretty" was such an out of left field choice for radio.

It's an odd start so far at radio for a song with no deal, but I do think it will recover shortly. I wish almost anything else on the album had been the single though. I'm expecting it to perform similarly to "Cry Pretty".

While it is far too early to make any concrete determinations, it is odd that this one is still not back in the MB top 50.
I really don't think there's any kind of "female formula" where radio will only play a certain number of female artists.
At the end of the day, Carrie took a fairly long break from having a single out after being on a very jarring song in "The Fighter" (after which Keith Urban has struggled to find himself too). Furthermore, "Cry Pretty" just wasn't very good and maybe neither is this.
Yeah, I can totally dig the message but is this what people want to hear? It's funny that a lot of people on this board were giving Kenny Chesney heck for the theme in "Get Along" but have no problem with it when it comes to Carrie.
Lastly, this has dropped to the 30s on country iTunes which is pretty bad for a current CU single the week after album release. That's where "Cry Pretty" spent a lot of time too, though, so I'm thinking the listening public just isn't digging this sound from her so far this era.

I think people here like Carrie Underwood more than Kenny Chesney hence being more forgiving or favor Carrie's song more. Personally for me, "Get Along" is a jam while "Love Wins" is really boring, not bad just not anything worth repeated listens. But both are really similar to each other and I see the appeal and distaste in both.

On my radio station they were doing a nationally syndicated Cry Pretty preview thing where she narrated and they played one song from the album at the top of the hour (I heard The Bullet and Southbound, for sure), its possible when Love Wins came around the extra plays for it were enough to boost it up a few spots from where it would have been. It was a quick 30 second thing about the song and then the song with a GO BUY CRY PRETTY NOW KTHX from her at the end.

Regardless of whether or not this got extra spins last week, it’s still very strange that this isn’t even top 50 yet. Perhaps something we don’t know about is going on behind the scenes (i.e. the label scrapped this as a single and nothing has been announced yet).

Perhaps something we don’t know about is going on behind the scenes (i.e. the label scrapped this as a single and nothing has been announced yet). This did get a small amount of hourly airplay on its first day, probably on only about 15-20 stations or so, so that's why it started at #34 on Billboard and then dropped to #40 in its 2nd week. I don't expect it to have much trouble going forward though. Keep in mind that Jason Aldean's new single "Girl Like You" went for adds on Sept. 10 (a week before "Love Wins" went for adds) and Jason has only been in the Mediabase top 50 for 5 days. Carrie's on a very similar pace, so I don't think there's any reason to worry. Aldean certainly isn't blazing up the chart with his new one, but my point is that other A-listers are moving a little slowly as well, and right now Carrie and Jason are definitely out-pacing the new singles from Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.

I really don't like this song. Cry Pretty is one of my favourite songs by Carrie and I had really high hopes for this whole album era but Love Wins is one big dissapointment. The lyrics are so cheesy/generic that even Carrie's vocal performance can't save the whole thing. It reminds me a little bit of What If by Reba McEntire and I dislike that song too.
Anyway I know it's probably not going to happen but I wish they would just send another song to radio, beacuse Cry Pretty album is filled with songs that are way better than this one.
