Nico had that momentum though 😭😭😭
Gorillaz failed with the funk sound so I don't have high hopes for this.

Almost a whole minute, before the song shows any signs of life. I kinda dug it after the boring intro.

This is the best offering off of Trench so far.

I haven't been digging any of the songs released much to be honest. This one's just kind of there. Not terrible. Not good. Maybe it'll grow on me. Maybe it won't.

Ooh I dig this. Not the kind of sound I'd expect from them, especially with the sound of the singles from their new album so far, but I like it.

i don't think any of the 4 songs released so far will score them any pop hits (but then again, what do i know about mainstream tastes these days?)...but the music is decent & they'll certainly get more alt airplay

Probably this will be another alt hit for them. I would like to see this becoming at least a minor hit on CHR too (It will be send for adds in next weeks)
For me, Jumpsuit is still the best song of the four released so far, but this comes at a close second

I’m sure this’ll smash on alt when it’s released, as Jumpsuit going #1 in 2 weeks proved that TOP could release just about anything and have alt embrace it. However, I really don’t see this being a pop hit — it’s certainlt less abrasive then Jumpsuit, and the production sounds pop friendly enough, but there’s not really a strong hook to speak of. It’s very much a slow burner, and I can’t see pop flocking to that. Not sure why Nico and the Niners wasn’t pushed as the first single across the board, as it’s the only one of the songs they’ve released thus far that sounds at all like a multiformat hit.
That said, I am a fan of this song and while the era has been somewhat of a mess commercially, I’m actually very excited for the album. They’re 4/4 for me in terms of the singles they’ve released so far, with Jumpsuit being one of my favorite TOP songs ever, and I have a feeling that they may be headed in a much more experimental direction, which I’m all for. I wasn’t a big fan of Blurryface, given how safe and watered down much of it felt, but I still really enjoy their self titled debut, and I feel like we may be getting something in the vein of that.

The more I listen to this, the more it sounds like Foster the People to me. Which is not a bad thing at all.

Look like Paul Meany, the singer from Mutemath, produced the whole album! Not at all surprised, considering all the singles gave me major Mutemath vibes.

Okay, I'm loving this now, easily my favorite Twenty One Pilots song since Stressed Out, and I might like it even more than that one...why wasn't this sent as the lead? Jumpsuit is a fine single choice because it's a heavier, more unique sound from the band, but if they came through with this as the first single from the album it would've smashed.

Meanwhile...
2 4 TWENTY ONE PILOTS Jumpsuit 2800 3534 -734 7.535
I know it's partially due to Labor Day, but you don't see negative bullets like that too often.

Woah :o Surprised it’s falling so quickly considering it stuck around the top 2 longer then I think most were expecting, but I guess the new single did it in. Now let’s see if it pulls a “Believe” or a “The Catalyst.”

This reminds me of Mute Math and Gorillaz. Would love to hear the backstory on why MM produced this album, very random.
Anyways, in my opinion this is their best song ever, period.

Yeah I'm liking this a lot too. It could easily be another Alt #1 for them, and hopefully will have more longevity than "Jumpsuit". I think it will at least have *some* crossover success, but it's tough to say whether it can be as big of a hit as the last era's crossovers.

21P and Mutemath even did an EP together (with remixes of 5 TØP songs), so I'm not surprised they collaborated again. And I love that EP so this raised my expectations for the album.

So this has to be the biggest negative bullet on the alt chart since...?

Bang Bang? BTW, a bullet indicates increasing spins, to discern growing songs; thus a song can move up without a bullet just because songs above it lost more spins and fell further in rank.

Btw the song itself has grown on me hard. I take back what I said about this not being a pop hit — it takes a few listens but this has been stuck in my head for days. I’m not even that big of a TOP fan, but all four songs they’ve released so far have been excellent — I don’t think I’ve been this excited for an album since Eat the Elephant.
