- SELENA GOMEZ - She'll release a new album and will have success with the lead single. Her streaming will be respectable so her total SPS won't be too bad. Those pure sales will be horrible though. The follow up singles won't flop but won't be smashes.

Rihanna will hit number one with her debut single of her new album.
Justin Bieber's debut single will stall out around the bottom half of the top 10.
Maroon 5 releases a single to capitalize on the Super Bowl. It peaks in the low teens.
Lady Gaga, emboldened by her Oscar win, decides to dust off some new material in late summer/early fall. The album becomes a favorite to win Grammys; the debut single peaks at the lower half of the top 10.
Shaggy is involved in one of the summer's big hits as part of a collaboration with Zedd or Calvin Harris.
Ariana Grande continues her success as her next single following Thank U, Next also goes to number one. Her third single ends up closer to Breathin'/God is a Woman territory.
Another year, another album bomb for Drake. But the results are disappointing as only his lead single hits number one and a followup cracks the top 10.
I think we'll have three alternative songs break out in 2019. You've heard of one of the artists, but the other two will be new to those who don't follow rock.
We'll hear buzz from Adele, but her debut single won't happen until late 2019 at the very earliest.

Have a few 1. Trap elements will continue to find itself in other genres (pop, rock, etc) 2. A critical acclaimed act will score a top 20 hit maybe top 10 3. Another Active Rock band will crossover to the hot 100

so i know this is technically for beginning of the year predictions (whoops!), but i forgot to add mine until it was too late, plus i feel like i have much more to work with now since the end of the year was so boring for the charts. anyways, let me make some mid year predictions:
specific artists:
Taylor Swift's ME! will get blocked at #2 on the hot 100 by Old Town Road -- however, itll match LWYMMD's #1 chr peak and have more longevity, spending roughly 25 weeks on the hot 100. most of her other singles from the Lover (assuming thats the album title) era will perform mediocre, but she will have one more top 10 hot 100/top 5 chr song.
speaking of Old Town Road, itll spend 14 weeks at #1 -- however, itll fall fairly quickly and go recurrent by its 30th week, although itll still get the #1 year end song on the hot 100. itll also go #1 on chr, but fall pretty quickly after peaking ala Despacito. Lil Nas X's followup(s) will have a solid debut but mediocre longevity, and he will be largely seen as a one hit wonder.
Billie Eilish will have her breakout year, being the second bigger female artist behind Ariana. Bad Guy will eventually go #1 on both the hot 100 and chr, while also being the rare song to achieve top 10 on both rhythmic and hac. she will then release either Wish You Were Gay or a nee single as a followup, which will also perform well but not be as big of a hit as Bad Guy. meanwhile, when the party's over will stall just outside the top 10 of chr and at least one other single by her will crack the top 50 off unsolicited plays.
on the subject of Ariana Grande, she will inexplicably not release a fourth single from tun (even though NASA and Needy are hits waiting to happen), and wont release anything until the end of the year, when she drops a new single. however, she will continue to be arguably the biggest pop star in the world, at least in terms of public perception.
this will quietly be Khalid's biggest year, with Talk becoming his first top 5 on the hot 100 and its followup stalling just outside the top 10. however, he will continue to be perceived largely as a singles artist.
Post Malone will release a new single in July that debuts at #1, dethroning Old Town Road. he will then release an album at the end of the year, which does well but is a bit less successful then Beerbongs and Bentleys
Drake will have a fairly quiet year, making a few guest appearances but not releasing new solo stuff until late fall. his first single will debut #1, and he will have a successful album release in January 2020.
despite not supporting them much the first time around, CHR will be the Jonas Brothers' new best friend. Cool wont reach its original mid 20s hot 100 peak, but itll still reach the top 5 of CHR (or just miss it), and the third single will go top 15 on CHR despite only scrapping the bottom of the hot 100.
Boy With Luv will become BTS's first top 20 on CHR but will have the same crap longevity that most of their songs do and will be off the hot 100 by week 10. they will release 1-2 new singles by the end of the year that do well, though none will debut top 10. meanwhile, Blackpink will have a top 25 debut and top 40 CHR hit.
Cardi B will stay quiet until the end of the summer, when she releases a new song thatll debut top 3 and eventually hit #1. she will then surprise drop an album early October thatll produce the biggest album bomb since Ariana's.
Lizzo will break out in the second half of 2019, with Truth Hurts being a decent size hit across the board (top 30 on the hot 100, top 10 on chr/rhythmic/maybe urban) and Juice going top 20 on chr and floating around the bottom 50 of the hot 100 for a while (ala IDGAF). at least one more song of hers will chart, whether its off Cuz I Love You or is a new track, and she will gain a solid fanbase.
Bruno Mars will stay quiet until he releases a new single in September, which will miss the top 5 of the hot 100 but will have more longevity and love from chr then his last single. his album will drop around christmas time and may not include Please Me.
Con Calma will go top 20 on the hot 100 and will just miss the top 10 on chr, becoming Katy's biggest hit since Feels. however, like Feels, she wont be able to turn it into solo success, and will release 1-2 more singles that go nowhere.
The Chainsmokers will score one solid size (top 20 hot 100, top 5 chr) hit due to a big name guest artist being featured (Post Malone?), however their star will continue to fade and wont ever score another big hit.
Hey Look Ma will go top 3 on chr and top 15 on the hot 100, giving PATD another solid size hit. they may or may not release a fourth single from PFTW, and will launch a new album era in early 2020.
Lil Uzi Vert will eventually surprise drop an album, which will do fairly well and have an album bomb similar to Luv is Rage, despite lacking a lasting hit the size of XO TOUR LIFE.
Kayne will surprise drop Yahndi before the end of the year without any record label backing. itll have a fairly big album bomb the size of Kids See Ghosts, but wont produce any hits, largely due to it being his most experimental album yet. critics will be divided but generally positive, similar to Life of deleted.
Travis Scott will surprise drop an album towards the end of the year, which will make a smaller impact then Astroworld and receive more mixed critical reviews but will still do well overall and will produce a hit with longevity. meanwhile, he and Kylie Jenner will be surrounded by divorce rumors and will eventually split up early 2020.
Ski Mask's star will continue to grow and will release a new single that scrapes the top 40 of the hot 100, while becoming more generally well known outside of the hip hop community.
overall:
the Me Too movement will finally begin to reach music, with more people speaking out against people working with artists like Chris Brown -- however, this wont stop convicted abusers from getting hits.
we will see another female rapper break out by the end of the year, whether its Rico Nasty, Megan Thee Stallion, Tierra Whack, or someone else, although they wont have Cardi B-esque fame/success...yet.
while trap will continue to be the dominant genre, we will see less and less pure hip hop artists score huge hits, and 2020 will be a fairly balanced year across genres (ala 2016).
music streaming will continue to make hits less omnipresent then ever, which will lead to generally weaker and weaker #1s and more songs with crazy longevity or none at all. however, thisll also lead to a gradually more diverse hot 100.
in response to the Old Town Road controversy, their lack of use, and the continued blurring of all genres, billboard will discontinue hot genre charts before the end of the year.
after Hey Look Ma, we wont see another big alt to pop crossover for the rest of the year
Tik Tok will continue to grow and help produce more hits, not unlike Vine song of yesteryear. unlike Vine, this will mainly affect songs that were already minor hits and will have a pretty even genre distribution.

Some predictions happened, like Shawn and Billie getting #1, a song from 2-3 years ago hitting #1 (Truth Hurts), and such.

Speaking about Panic!, Pray For The Wicked will spawn another big hit in 2019. This is funny because it happened

Instead, it has a chart run similar to Thunder (both peaked at #4 and lasted about a year on the Hot 100.) @chroniclea Some rapper breaks into the mainstream out of a dance challenge on the same level as the In My Feelings challenge. Billie Eilish breaks into the mainstream. She scores a top ten hit and several more top fourty hits at the very least. @sklohiorawr Beyoncรฉ releases another solo album (kinda?), Billie Eilish is very big - tekkenguyMadonna releases her next album during second quarter with a bundle which will cause a massive boost in first week sales. lets see how im doing so far... so i know this is technically for beginning of the year predictions (whoops!), but i forgot to add mine until it was too late, plus i feel like i have much more to work with now since the end of the year was so boring for the charts. anyways, let me make some mid year predictions: specific artists: Taylor Swift's ME! will get blocked at #2 on the hot 100 by Old Town Road -- however, itll match LWYMMD's #1 chr peak and have more longevity, spending roughly 25 weeks on the hot 100. most of her other singles from the Lover (assuming thats the album title) era will perform mediocre, but she will have one more top 10 hot 100/top 5 chr song. was right about it getting blocked, but it did even worse on CHR then LWYMMD (which imo is a big sign that Taylor's star is fading a bit). Lover reached the top 10 of the hot 100 and the jury is out on how it'll do on pop.speaking of Old Town Road, itll spend 14 weeks at #1 -- however, itll fall fairly quickly and go recurrent by its 30th week, although itll still get the #1 year end song on the hot 100. itll also go #1 on chr, but fall pretty quickly after peaking ala Despacito. Lil Nas X's followup(s) will have a solid debut but mediocre longevity, and he will be largely seen as a one hit wonder. before Panini exploded id say i didnt do too bad here, but now that he seems to have escaped being a one hit wonder, id say nothing on here is really accurate besides getting YE #1 and i guess OTR falling fairly quickly (thus far).Billie Eilish will have her breakout year, being the second bigger female artist behind Ariana. Bad Guy will eventually go #1 on both the hot 100 and chr, while also being the rare song to achieve top 10 on both rhythmic and hac. she will then release either Wish You Were Gay or a nee single as a followup, which will also perform well but not be as big of a hit as Bad Guy. meanwhile, when the party's over will stall just outside the top 10 of chr and at least one other single by her will crack the top 50 off unsolicited plays. got the #1 on chr and the hot 100 part right, as well WTPO stalling outside CHR's top 10 and her being more or less the second biggest female artist right now. meanwhile, All Good Girls Go To Hell is the next single (bizarrely), and we'll see about the unsolicited play thing (kind of doubt it, but not unrealistic on CHR or alt.on the subject of Ariana Grande, she will inexplicably not release a fourth single from tun (even though NASA and Needy are hits waiting to happen), and wont release anything until the end of the year, when she drops a new single. however, she will continue to be arguably the biggest pop star in the world, at least in terms of public perception. got the releasing a new single part, but it was in the form of two one offs that seem to be loosely connected with the TUN era. id say shes still probably the biggest pop star, but that wasnt particularly bold.this will quietly be Khalid's biggest year, with Talk becoming his first top 5 on the hot 100 and its followup stalling just outside the top 10. however, he will continue to be perceived largely as a singles artist. right besides the fact that his second single bombed (which honestly really surprises me).Post Malone will release a new single in July that debuts at #1, dethroning Old Town Road. he will then release an album at the end of the year, which does well but is a bit less successful then Beerbongs and Bentleys Goodbyes was July right? but thats it.Drake will have a fairly quiet year, making a few guest appearances but not releasing new solo stuff until late fall. his first single will debut #1, and he will have a successful album release in January 2020. not quite, as he dropped Money in the Grave as a one off single and it only peaked at #8(?). no word on a new album, though he could release a lead before the end of the year.despite not supporting them much the first time around, CHR will be the Jonas Brothers' new best friend. Cool wont reach its original mid 20s hot 100 peak, but itll still reach the top 5 of CHR (or just miss it), and the third single will go top 15 on CHR despite only scrapping the bottom of the hot 100. all misses besides Cool not repeaking and CHR embracing them (though Cool didnt go top 5 and their third single is getting a lot more attention then i thought it would).Boy With Luv will become BTS's first top 20 on CHR but will have the same crap longevity that most of their songs do and will be off the hot 100 by week 10. they will release 1-2 new singles by the end of the year that do well, though none will debut top 10. meanwhile, Blackpink will have a top 25 debut and top 40 CHR hit. first part is all right, we'll see about the second!!Cardi B will stay quiet until the end of the summer, when she releases a new song thatll debut top 3 and eventually hit #1. she will then surprise drop an album early October thatll produce the biggest album bomb since Ariana's. nope!!Lizzo will break out in the second half of 2019, with Truth Hurts being a decent size hit across the board (top 30 on the hot 100, top 10 on chr/rhythmic/maybe urban) and Juice going top 20 on chr and floating around the bottom 50 of the hot 100 for a while (ala IDGAF). at least one more song of hers will chart, whether its off Cuz I Love You or is a new track, and she will gain a solid fanbase. undoubtably the breakout star of the second half of 2019, with Truth Hurts being way bigger then i couldve ever dreamed. she released Good as Hell as the follow up instead, and while she hasnt charted any other singles yet, id be surprised if the third single doesnt chart.Bruno Mars will stay quiet until he releases a new single in September, which will miss the top 5 of the hot 100 but will have more longevity and love from chr then his last single. his album will drop around christmas time and may not include Please Me. we'll see, but no word from him thus far post Please Me.Con Calma will go top 20 on the hot 100 and will just miss the top 10 on chr, becoming Katy's biggest hit since Feels. however, like Feels, she wont be able to turn it into solo success, and will release 1-2 more singles that go nowhere. barely missed the top 20 of the hot 100, missed the top 10 of CHR by a much bigger margin. she released two more singles, with Never Really Over being a minor hit and Small Talk bombing. The Chainsmokers will score one solid size (top 20 hot 100, top 5 chr) hit due to a big name guest artist being featured (Post Malone?), however their star will continue to fade and wont ever score another big hit. second part feels trueish.Hey Look Ma will go top 3 on chr and top 15 on the hot 100, giving PATD another solid size hit. they may or may not release a fourth single from PFTW, and will launch a new album era in early 2020. Hey Look Ma JUST missed both of my predictions for it. no word on a second single, but theyd be dumb not to release one imo.Lil Uzi Vert will eventually surprise drop an album, which will do fairly well and have an album bomb similar to Luv is Rage, despite lacking a lasting hit the size of XO TOUR LIFE. not yet at least...Kayne will surprise drop Yahndi before the end of the year without any record label backing. itll have a fairly big album bomb the size of Kids See Ghosts, but wont produce any hits, largely due to it being his most experimental album yet. critics will be divided but generally positive, similar to Life of deleted. nope, the demos leaked instead. apparently he's focusing on christian music now??Travis Scott will surprise drop an album towards the end of the year, which will make a smaller impact then Astroworld and receive more mixed critical reviews but will still do well overall and will produce a hit with longevity. meanwhile, he and Kylie Jenner will be surrounded by divorce rumors and will eventually split up early 2020. nope, Travis has been MIA for most of 2019.Ski Mask's star will continue to grow and will release a new single that scrapes the top 40 of the hot 100, while becoming more generally well known outside of the hip hop community. nope, though imo Faucet Failure feels bigger then its peak.overall: the Me Too movement will finally begin to reach music, with more people speaking out against people working with artists like Chris Brown -- however, this wont stop convicted abusers from getting hits. id say this is true, though much of it started before i made these predictions. Chris Brown continues to skirt by with a surprisingly low amount of backlash and even has his very own #6 hit.we will see another female rapper break out by the end of the year, whether its Rico Nasty, Megan Thee Stallion, Tierra Whack, or someone else, although they wont have Cardi B-esque fame/success...yet. called it!! Megan Thee Stallion breaks out.while trap will continue to be the dominant genre, we will see less and less pure hip hop artists score huge hits, and 2020 will be a fairly balanced year across genres (ala 2016). ehh, i guess a bitmusic streaming will continue to make hits less omnipresent then ever, which will lead to generally weaker and weaker #1s and more songs with crazy longevity or none at all. however, thisll also lead to a gradually more diverse hot 100. wouldnt say this is true, although Sunflower is having insane fucking longevity.in response to the Old Town Road controversy, their lack of use, and the continued blurring of all genres, billboard will discontinue hot genre charts before the end of the year. nope, we just have to pay to view them now.after Hey Look Ma, we wont see another big alt to pop crossover for the rest of the year nope, Trampoline exists.Tik Tok will continue to grow and help produce more hits, not unlike Vine song of yesteryear. unlike Vine, this will mainly affect songs that were already minor hits and will have a pretty even genre distribution. yes!! in addition to Old Town Road, The Git Up, Bad Guy, and Lalala, have all been aided to some extent by Tik Tok (plus Dissolve, a top 15 and rising alt hit.what actually happened is bolded. honestly i got a lot more then i thought i would.
