7th most added song this week with 15 adds on Mediabase. That should hopefully bode well for the actual add date that is next week.

This sounds too good to not at least make a little bit of a dent on the charts, right? I mean Toby Keith just barely missed the Top 40, so George Strait can at least get that far with this, right?

Over 50 stations are already committed by next Monday’s impact date. It’ll definitely chart and probably make a run towards the top 40.

Call me crazy, I think this somehow becomes a Top 10-20 song even on today's radio.

This might debut really high. KKBQ & KILT in Houston are playing it every hour.

My station is playing this every hour as well. King George is back, baby!!!!
However, does anyone else think the instrumental is identical to Josh Turner’s "Why Don’t We Just Dance” at some parts? Still like this a lot though!

Still like this a lot though! It also sounds like “Here for a good time” which makes sense because it’s the same 3 songwriters lol.

I’m a bit disappointed that this is getting an hourly deal, because there’s always the chance of this pulling a “Summer Fever” or “Bring It On Over”.

I’m a bit disappointed that this is getting an hourly deal, because there’s always the chance of this pulling a “Summer Fever” or “Bring It On Over”. There’s definitely a chance that happens here, considering George’s last top 30 hit was 5 years ago and he’s all been pushed aside by radio, so a lofty debut might be its max of radio success. But George got helped out a lot by Texas stations, including KKBQ and KILT in Houston (non-iHeartMedia stations). “Bring It On Over” and “Summer Fever” also got iHeartMedia debuts like George here, but the support from big Texas stations that contribute chunks of audience like KKBQ will play a role for this single (George debuted higher than Billy and LBT with more spins and audience, fwiw). George has gotten just 13 spins from KKBQ since Monday but it still contributed nearly 300k in total audience to this song (that station’s heavy rotation songs get over 1.0 million in audience alone). KKBQ’s program director Johnny Chiang just received the award for top PD from Radio Ink Magazine this week. I’m expecting those stations to support George and this song. How do the iHeart stations treat this one after this week? I don’t know. I know some of them will continue to spin “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar” but its 8th day update will be pretty brutal I imagine. Over 50 stations are committed already and it officially impacts this upcoming week. I wouldn't be surprised if its debut is its peak but I'm starting to believe it's possible for George to get back into the top 30 after its decent from 8th and 9th day updates. This also got hourly play both Monday afternoon/evening and Tuesday during the daytime on iHeartMedia stations.

Plus, not that this matters in the eyes of radio most of the time, "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" is the best song out of the three, so that might help in the long run, too. (I say that as seemingly one of the few people that seemed to dig "Summer Fever").

George's song is traditional and that isn't the norm for country radio in 2019, but it's upbeat and is easy to sing along to -- that will help this one for sure, and certainly contributed to getting the hourly debut. I don't think programmers would have been as enthused if George sent a ballad their way.

George Strait still scoring top 40 hits almost 40 years after his debut single “Unwound” was released!

This remind's me of William Michael Morgan's "Missing" a lot. The way the chorus is sung is very identical. The song is solid though, and a great way for George to return to the music scene.

The intro is eerily similar to Josh Turner's "Why Don't We Just Dance".

Who edits George’s Wikipedia page? On his singles page they have “codigo” & “god & country music” listed as singles.

Who edits George’s Wikipedia page? On his singles page they have “codigo” & “god & country music” listed as singles. Outside of country music, singles are often considered to be anything released as a stand-alone and unfortunately editors have started applying that to country music articles as well. It's become a nuisance, but yeah, neither of those were "singles" just because they were released ahead of the album. It's frustrating for sure.

It’s up 3 more spots to #33. Does anyone know the highest debut of a GS single?

It’s up 3 more spots to #33. Does anyone know the highest debut of a GS single? I believe that distinction goes to “I Saw God Today” which debuted at #19 in 2008. Here’s a few other debuts George had in the top 40: “Give It All We Got Tonight” - #25 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #37 on the Country Airplay chart “Here for a Good Time” - #29 “You’ll Be There” - #30 “Living for the Night” - #34 “Run” - #36 “One Night at a Time”- #37 “I Just Want to Dance with You” - #38 “Go On” - #38

The King of Country has knocked this one out of the park. Still showing the World how it's done.

Can one of the chart experts explain something to me. I see George has higher audience and higher spins than Maren Morris but he’s at #31 and she’s #30. Why is that?

They don’t readily disclose how they’re tabulated but market size (where the spins are coming from) factors in to their forumla. Sometimes a song with lower spins and/or audience is ahead of another song.

George is up to #30 on the Mediabase rolling chart today. It’ll likely debut between #26-#29, depending on if and how many songs he can jump tomorrow. It should debut in the top 25 on Billboard. George’s highest chart debut was “I Saw God Today” (which tim mentioned) at #19 on Billboard and #24 on Mediabase in February of 2008. “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar” is looking like it’ll be the second highest chart debut for George, ever. Incredible.

I’m loving that radio is enthusiastic about this but I wish his team was doing more of a sales push as well, because I bet most of his fanbase doesn’t even know this is out.
