I really struggled with having to not put "Letting Go" in my top 5 and I almost think I had it in there at one point until I swapped it out for another song. Suzy really excels at these kind of songs that are really all about telling a story and her voice just adds this warmth that pulls you in.

“Someday Soon” is another one that I really wanted to find room in my top 5 for but alas it had to settle for #7 and another perfect ranking might I add! This is all around a very well written song that is matched by a solid production that perfectly captures the overall mood.
“Give Me Some Wheels” actually did better than I was expecting as I wasn’t even sure it would make the top 10. This is yet another song that looking back on never should’ve struggled on the charts as much as it did.
And look at that...my top 5 is THE TOP 5!!!!!

I had pegged "Drive South" as a possible top two contender so I'm a bit surprised to see it be the first to leave inside the top 5. I was actually listening to this earlier today and kind of chuckled at the line Ain't going to pack my nylon Just leave these legs showing because I don't even think wearing nylons is really a thing anymore...or are they?! Anyways this is a classic tune and one of Suzy's most recognizable hits so I would've been disappointed had it missed out on the top 5.

“Just Like the Weather” is such a freaking good song and has always been one of my favorites from Suzy. I not only got to jam out to this for the 1993 YE rankdown but got to do it all over again for this one! Such a well written song with a wonderful melody. I also don’t know what it is about Suzy’s music but this is just one of many by her that I absolutely love putting on for road trips.

I admit that while I was out driving around town today running errands I had all of the top 5 songs on repeat and for whatever reason “Aces” is the one that I kept coming back around to...and I was even more surprised how I knew all of the words to it by heart which is a testament to how well it’s written. Suzy is really the only female artist during this time that I could see taking a song like this and making it a top 10 hit.
That leaves “Hey Cinderella” and “Outbound Plane” as the final two songs which happens to be MY TOP 2!!

“Outbound Plane” is not only my favorite Suzy Bogguss song but is one of my all-time favorite country songs from the 90’s as highlighted by the fact that I had selected it for my 90’s Women of Country rankdown where I ranked it #2. I was quite disappointed that it couldn’t even make the top 20 there so I was really hoping that it would get its revenge and win here...WHICH IT DID!!! Thanks for hosting this castleoblivion26 and while I also wish more people had participated it’s their loss!

Girl it was fixed before you even replied...I’m typing on my Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad and it honestly can never keep up with my typing so it often auto-corrects on its own lol. I picture this as you right now...

"Hey Cinderella" and "Outbound Plane" are definitely both among her best and most iconic songs, so I am very happy with the final outcome here! However, between the two I feel that "Outbound Plane" was the correct winner. It's one of her few songs that I had ever heard before this rankdown, and probably the only one I have ever heard on the radio. "Hey Cinderella" was not my favorite when I first heard it for Castle's Favorite Country Ladies rankdown, but after it made the top 5 (?) in that rankdown I started paying more attention to it. I have since liked it more and more every time I have heard it. Thanks for hosting castleoblivion26! It's nice to finally have somebody besides me finish a rankdown! ;)

Well of her big hits "Outbound Plane" is one of my lower one's but I still love it! Happy it got a win! "Hey Cinderella" is so great for me, easily one of my favorites of the 90's! Her final two major label albums (GMSW and NL,NGH) were both amazing albums that, to me, seemed like they should've had big hits from and I wish we can go back in time and correct that, some fantastic music on those two. Suzy's voice is one of my favorites, there's just a timeless and easy quality to it. Like she's not a powerhouse singer, or someone who has the most distinct voice or phrasing, but there's just something so appealing to it. I'm sad I couldn't be here for the whole reveal but I'm (mostly) happy with the results! Thanks castleoblivion26 for hosting!

Wow I am the lowest ranker of so many top 10 songs lol Letting Go has a killer melody. Nice piano and guitar touch as the outro. The melody for Someday Soon is even stronger! It has this easy-going melody from country music that I liked a lot. Don't get the love for Give Me Some Wheels. For a 1996 song this somehow has even dated production than her earlier songs. Her vocals are just mixed too in front of instrumentals. Not a good listen at all. Maybe I cannot connect to the theme of Drive South so I didn't rank this high. "You change just like the weather/But the weather you know will always change" is such a fun line in Just Like The Weather! Still does not find anything special in Aces though. Not me demolish its chance of winning by being sole participant putting it outside top 10. I probably will rank Hey Cinderella higher now. I think the volume increase at these "hey" and "oh" put me off initially. Outbound Plane is the obvious #1 for me because it is great lyrically and musically. The piano is lively and it is an interesting approach to write a getting-over-with song! Thanks castleoblivion26 for hosting the rankdown, and I can't wait the chaos (maybe) in Gretchen Peter's rankdown.

I was pulling for "Hey Cinderella", but I'm certainly happy with "Outbound Plane" as well. The big hits did the best in the rankdown, which isn't surprising, but I also think it's pretty fitting, since I think Suzy's biggest hits were (mostly) her best songs. I wish she had had more success, but it was really nice to revisit her catalog over the course of this rankdown. Thanks castleoblivion26 for hosting this.
