#17. "That's Why I Pray"
Total Points: 263 Average: 17.5 Year Released: May 21st, 2012 Mediabase Peak: #15 Billboard Peak: #16 Rankings:.indulgecountry - 1 phil1996 - 3 zaclord 🌈 - 7 zack97 - 10 gonecountry - 12 tim - 12 sabre14 - 15 bboat11 - 17 castleoblivion26 - 17 LBTrocks - 21 Kanenrá:ke - 22 ChicaCherry콜라 - 31 kw9461 - 31 ClevelandRox - 32 George Strait Junkie - 32 "That's Why I Pray" was released in May of 2012 as the lead single off Big & Rich's Hillbilly Jedi album. It would peak at #15 on Mediabase in September. The song debuted at #24 on Billboard and #33 on Mediabase. It was Big & Rich's only hourly debut at radio from Clear Channel/iHeartMedia. The song was written by Denelle Leverett (The JaneDear Girls/Gone West), Blair Daly and Sarah Buxton. Really enjoy "That's Why I Pray", even though it took a bit to grow on me since it was a change up from Big & Rich's previous music up to that point. It sounds like something that would stall at radio though, so I wasn't surprised. Its chart run (other than the hourly debut) mimicked the chart run for "8th of November" from 6 years prior, in terms of when it was released, when it peaked and what position it peaked. .indulgecountry is the second to lose his #1.

This is about as far as I expected my #1 to come. I figured this would sneak into the top 20 but wouldn't get much farther. Love, love, love this song. I like a (small) handful of their other songs quite a bit, but this is easily my favorite.

#16. "Look At You"
Total Points: 259 Average: 17.2 Year Released: January 28th, 2014 Mediabase Peak: #6 Billboard Peak: #7 Rankings:zaclord 🌈 - 3 ClevelandRox - 5 bboat11 - 7 tim - 9 .indulgecountry - 12 castleoblivion26 - 13 ChicaCherry콜라 - 13 George Strait Junkie - 15 gonecountry - 18 kw9461 - 20 phil1996 - 21 LBTrocks - 28 Kanenrá:ke - 29 sabre14 - 32 zack97 - 34 "Look At You" was the lead single off Big & Rich's Gravity album in January of 2014. It peaked at #6 on Mediabase in November. The song was written by John Rich and Shannon Lawson, who had two record deals himself and is part of the MuzikMafia. The song was released weeks after they left Warner Music Nashville to start their own label and hired New Revolution for radio promotion.
I'm a bit torn on this because "Look At You" is a good song and I enjoy it but it's just not what I expect from them and it's too pedestrian for me to love.

Pedestrian - good description! Not a bad song, but everything released off Gravity as a single was overly sedate IMO. They sound great together as always but just not the level of energy I like from B&R.

Kind of surprised so many album cuts made the top 15, but not at all disappointing - almost all are deserving.

#15. "Comin' To Your City"
Total Points: 252 Average: 16.8 Year Released: September 5th, 2005 Radio & Records Peak: #19 Billboard Peak: #21 Rankings:gonecountry - 4 ChicaCherry콜라 - 5 .indulgecountry - 5 castleoblivion26 - 6 George Strait Junkie - 8 zaclord 🌈 - 9 LBTrocks - 11 kw9461 - 18 sabre14 - 18 zack97 - 24 ClevelandRox - 27 Kanenrá:ke - 27 tim - 28 phil1996 - 29 bboat11 - 33 "Comin' To Your City" was the lead single off Big & Rich's sophomore album of the same name. It was released in early September of 2005 and peaked at #19 on R&R in December. The song was written by John Rich and Big Kenny. The song has been used as the theme song to ESPN's College GameDay for years with different lyrics each week to reflect the prime match-ups.
Other than "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" and "Lost In this Moment", this is the song by Big & Rich all my friends who don't love country music know...because of its use on College GameDay. They all love it lol. I do too but it's definitely one of their silly fun songs. I also LOVE, as did everyone else here in Buffalo, that they referenced a downtown street (Chippewa) here in Buffalo. Big & Rich opened for Tim McGraw in Buffalo back in the fall of 2004 and they went to a few bars on Chippewa street after the show and partied til 3 am lol. They used the experience in this song. I think Warner and them knew it wouldn't go too far at radio but it was a standout track that served well as the lead off single.

#14. "Faster Than Angels Fly"
Total Points: 251 Average: 16.7 Year Released: June 5th, 2007 Album: Between Raising Hell and Amazing GraceRankings:castleoblivion26 - 3 kw9461 - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 6 tim - 6 bboat11 - 8 .indulgecountry - 8 sabre14 - 16 zaclord 🌈 - 18 zack97 - 20 LBTrocks - 22 phil1996 - 23 ClevelandRox - 26 George Strait Junkie - 28 gonecountry - 30 ChicaCherry콜라 - 32 "Faster Than Angels Fly" was off Big & Rich's third studio album, Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace, which was released in June of 2007. The song was written by Dobo Phillips and Billy Henderson.
This song was so different for them at the time but I really think they pulled it off. Such a great lyrical track and it's got an easy-going melody that highlights the lyrics even more. I knew it wouldn't get released to radio however. Glad to see it make the top 15 and that others think this is a great song.

Love “Comin’ To Your City” but it was never a top 10 contender for me. It’s great fun, but they have a lot of other upbeat rockers that I prefer to this.

It was written by John Rich and Big Kenny. The song was first included on John Rich's first solo album (Underneath the Same Moon) for BNA after he left Lonestar in 1999, but that album wasn't released until 2006. It was released as a single and reached the top 50 on R&R. Big Kenny would include it on his solo project, Live a Little in 1999, which was a pop/rock album off Hollywood Records...but like Rich, Kenny's album wouldn't be released until several years later (2005). "I Pray For You" was the second song Kenny and John every wrote together, shortly after they first met in 1998.
This is without a doubt one of the best songs they ever wrote. Kenny and John will tell you too, that "I Pray For You" was the first time they thought they had chemistry as songwriters together. I wish Warner had released this off Comin' To Your City. But I guess with John Rich releasing it to radio in 1999, that might have been a reason they passed on the idea. Would have been a much better choice than "Never Mind Me" though. I like John's solo version but this was the best version.

#12. "That Kind Of Town"
Total Points: 238 Average: 15.8 Year Released: September 23rd, 2014 Album: GravityRankings:zack97 - 8 Kanenrá:ke - 9 sabre14 - 10 ClevelandRox - 13 kw9461 - 13 LBTrocks - 13 phil1996 - 13 tim - 15 bboat11 - 16 George Strait Junkie - 19 .indulgecountry - 19 gonecountry - 20 castleoblivion26 - 22 zaclord 🌈 - 22 ChicaCherry콜라 - 26 "That Kind Of Town" was off Big & Rich's Gravity album, which was released in September of 2014. The song was written by John Rich and Gerry House. House is a well respected songwriter in Nashville, whose credits include "Little Rock" by Reba McEntire, "The River and the Highway" by Pam Tillis, "The Big One" by George Strait and "On the Side of Angels" by LeAnn Rimes.
This was definitely the standout track for me on Gravity and a worthy inclusion in this rankdown. It's reminiscent of "Sleepy Little Town" by JT Hodges, which is also a great song. Good to see this one get some love here.

#11. "Love Train"
Total Points: 233 Average: 15.5 Year Released: May 4th, 2004 Album: Horse of a Different ColorRankings:Kanenrá:ke - 1 kw9461 - 3 LBTrocks - 5 sabre14 - 5 ChicaCherry콜라 - 6 George Strait Junkie - 7 phil1996 - 8 ClevelandRox - 14 bboat11 - 20 castleoblivion26 - 25 gonecountry - 25 zack97 - 26 .indulgecountry - 27 zaclord 🌈 - 27 tim - 34 "Love Train" was off Big & Rich's debut album, Horse of a Different Color. It was written by John Rich, Big Kenny and fellow MuzikMafia member and singer-songwriter, Jon Nicholson. Nicholson also sings background vocals on the track. On Big & Rich's Super Galactic Fan Pak, there's a video of the song where they're riding a train in South Dakota. I'll go to my grave thinking this should have been a single. Can't argue too much with what they picked but this was so different but in a good way. It's got such a good melody and interesting lyrics. This album came out when I was 14 and always put me in a good mood when I heard "Love Train." It was polarizing here though. Seven top 10 rankings and Seven put it 20 or lower. Kanenrá:ke loses his #1 just before the top 10.

Even though some of the songs making it into the top 10 weren't in mine I think overall this is a very solid group of songs. I really have no idea how this is going to play out in the end but I'm hoping to see "Wild West Show", "Lovin' Lately" and "Holy Water" make it to the top 5.
"Love Train" was the biggest surprise to me because I never would've thought it would make it as far as it did. I personally can't stand the song and actually find both the melody and the lyrics to be quite annoying. I tried giving the song a few listens but couldn't hit skip fast enough.

Wow, I thought that was a shoe in for the top 10. Love Train is so good in such an inexplicable way. It's a dumb song, but so insanely catchy - especially the bridge, it never ceases to put me in a good mood. I'm not surprised it was polarizing, but I thought Rollin' would be even more polarizing.

#10. "Between Raising Hell And Amazing Grace"
Total Points: 222 Average: 14.8 Year Released: August, 2007 Mediabase Peak: #36 Billboard Peak: #37 Rankings:gonecountry - 1 phil1996 - 4 zack97 - 4 George Strait Junkie - 5 kw9461 - 9 tim - 13 sabre14 - 14 zaclord 🌈 - 14 castleoblivion26 - 16 .indulgecountry - 17 ChicaCherry콜라 - 18 bboat11 - 22 Kanenrá:ke - 23 LBTrocks - 27 ClevelandRox - 35 "Between Raising Hell And Amazing Grace" was the second single off Big & Rich's third studio album of the same name in August of 2007. It peaked at #36 on Mediabase in October. The song was written by Big Kenny and Earl James. The music video was directed by Deaton-Flanigen, who have directed a large quantity of famous music videos in country music throughout the 90's and 2000's. This is still a great song. I don't think it's as good as the incredible "Devil and the Cross" by Halfway to Hazard, which was released to country radio around the same time in 2007, but still a good song. I'm still very surprised radio didn't warm up to it. I guess stations were more interested in spinning "Lost In this Moment", plus they releases two slower songs in a row. gonecountry loses his #1 here.
