#8. "8th Of November"
Total Points: 212 Average: 14.1 Year Released: May 26th, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #15 Billboard Peak: #18 Rankings:phil1996 - 1 castleoblivion26 - 2 gonecountry - 3 sabre14 - 4 tim - 5 zack97 - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 8 ChicaCherry콜라 - 10 George Strait Junkie - 12 kw9461 - 14 ClevelandRox - 20 .indulgecountry - 28 bboat11 - 31 LBTrocks - 33 zaclord 🌈 - 36 "8th of November" was released as the third single off Big & Rich's sophomore album, Comin' To Your City in May of 2006. It peaked at #15 on Mediabase in early September. When the song was officially released to country radio, it re-entered at Billboard at #36 and debuted at R&R at #38, making it the highest debut at radio for Big & Rich on Mediabase until "That's Why I Pray" debuted at #33 in 2012. The radio edit version was 1:20 less than the album version -- taking out an entire chorus.
The song is a true story about their friend and South Dakota native Niles Harris, who was a Vietnam veteran. His 173rd Airborne Brigade was ambushed on November 8th of 1965, but he was one who survived. Big & Rich wrote the song about his experiences of that day. The song went on to be nominated for CMA Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year in 2006. Its music video was also nominated at the 2007 ACM's and the 2007 Grammy's. Kris Krisofferson gives an opening monologue on the album version and the music video.
When it comes to war/patriotic songs, I like them more than others here but I think what sets "8th of November" apart from others is the fact not only is it a true story of a real person, but it's mostly sad, dark and bittersweet. My grandfather served in WWII and he had no choice but to fight back then and the same was for Niles Harris, who was drafted to fight in Vietnam. It focuses on a tragic event during a war that this man has to live with the rest of his life, that's why it strikes a chord with me.

#7. "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big & Rich)"
Total Points: 207 Average: 13.8 Year Released: May 4th, 2004 Album: Horse of a Different ColorRankings:ChicaCherry콜라 - 1 LBTrocks - 1 ClevelandRox - 3 sabre14 - 3 zack97 - 6 Kanenrá:ke - 7 George Strait Junkie - 9 gonecountry - 11 tim - 11 castleoblivion26 - 24 phil1996 - 24 .indulgecountry - 25 kw9461 - 25 zaclord 🌈 - 25 bboat11 - 32 "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big & Rich)" was off Big & Rich's debut album, Horse of a Different Color in 2004. It was the lead off track, meant as the introduction to Big & Rich and the album. It features Cowboy Troy. The song was written by John Rich, Big Kenny and Cowboy Troy. The song was performed on the 2004 CMA Awards, including the hick-hop bridge by Cowboy Troy. I remember hearing this for the first time in 2004 and thinking I have never heard this style before but I really love it. It was so different back then but unlike many of the pop songs branded as country today, I actually thought this song was creative as was their debut album. This is without a doubt the one song featuring hick-hop I actually love. Big & Rich still perform this song in concert to this day. This ended up being the highest place album track in this rankdown. ChicaCherry콜라 and LBTrocks lose their #1's at #7.

#6. "Lovin' Lately" (feat. Tim McGraw)
Total Points: 200 Average: 13.3 Year Released: January 11th, 2016 Mediabase Peak: #10 Billboard Peak: #14 Rankings:tim - 1 .indulgecountry - 2 bboat11 - 4 zaclord 🌈 - 6 ClevelandRox - 8 gonecountry - 9 castleoblivion26 - 10 zack97 - 11 kw9461 - 12 phil1996 - 14 Kanenrá:ke - 16 ChicaCherry콜라 - 21 George Strait Junkie - 23 sabre14 - 27 LBTrocks - 36 "Lovin' Lately" was released as the third and final single off Big & Rich's Gravity album in January of 2016. It peaked at #10 on Mediabase in October. The song features Tim McGraw on background vocals. Tim co-wrote the song with John Rich and Big Kenny. Good song, maybe under-ranked it by a few spaces, but never one of my absolute favorites from Kenny and John. The melody is the best part of the song but it sounds eerily similar to "Mandolin Rain". tim loses his #1 just before the top 5.

"Rollin'" is amazing, the melody the beat the production... killer song! Glad it made the top 10!
Equally as happy that "Lovin' Lately" missed the top 5. Don't care for it at all... again, not the style I like from Big & Rich.
All the reaming songs are great, minus "Lost In This Moment" which needs to gtfo already lol.
5. Big Time 4. Lost In This Moment 3. Wild West Show 2. Holy Water 1. Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)

8th of November is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Patriotic/war songs are the worst but yikes their vocals (which I normally despise anyway) are especially horrid on that one. Easy easy last place for me and very disappointed it got so high

I'm stunned anyone thought "Rollin'" was the best song here, to each their own I guess.
Overall I'm happy with the Top 5 but a bit surprised that "Big Time" made it. Like the song well enough but not Top 5 overall. Hopefully that goes at 5 and the other 4 are the Top 4. Also happy my #1 is still in and hope no one tanked it because it is EASILY their best song ever.

Shocked but glad Rollin made top ten! I knew there'd be a ton of tankers, but imo it's their best of the hick-hop party songs. It was so fun!
Predictions:
1. Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) 2. Holy Water 3. Lost in This Moment 4. Wild West Show 5. Big Time

#5. "Big Time"
Total Points: 186 Average: 12.4 Year Released: February 7th, 2005 Radio & Records Peak: #16 Billboard Peak: #20 Rankings:gonecountry - 6 phil1996 - 6 zack97 - 7 sabre14 - 8 zaclord 🌈 - 8 kw9461 - 11 George Strait Junkie - 11 castleoblivion26 - 14 ChicaCherry콜라 - 14 .indulgecountry - 14 tim - 14 bboat11 - 15 ClevelandRox - 17 LBTrocks - 17 Kanenrá:ke - 24 "Big Time" was released as the fourth and final single off Big & Rich's debut album Horse of a Different Color in February of 2005. It peaked at #16 on R&R in May. The song was written by John Rich, Big Kenny and Angie Aparo. The music video was mainly filmed in Deadwood, South Dakota but features other various locations. Actress Gina Gershon plays the barmaid in the video.
I love "Big Time". Personal side note, this song was charting when I first started really getting into the charts and just how it all worked, so songs from that March of 2005 to July of 2005 time period, really hold a special place in my nostalgic heart. This song was definitely country but sounded so different from anything else that was on the radio back then. I remember being pissed when it stalled in the top 20 lol. Back then, labels didn't stick with a song at signs of resistance, so Warner let it go soon after it reached the top 20.

#4. "Lost In This Moment"
Total Points: 174 Average: 11.6 Year Released: February 19th, 2007 Mediabase Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:ClevelandRox - 1 zaclord 🌈 - 1 bboat11 - 3 .indulgecountry - 3 tim - 3 George Strait Junkie - 4 castleoblivion26 - 5 gonecountry - 8 ChicaCherry콜라 - 12 Kanenrá:ke - 19 sabre14 - 20 kw9461 - 21 phil1996 - 22 zack97 - 22 LBTrocks - 30 "Lost In This Moment" was released as the lead single off Big & Rich's third studio album, Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace in February of 2007. The song would go on to become Big & Rich's first and only #1 radio single on both Mediabase and Billboard in July, spending two weeks at the top. The song is the second best selling song of Big & Rich's, behind "Save a Horse." It was written by John Rich, Keith Anderson and Rodney Clawson. Anderson included his version on his C'mon album for Columbia Nashville in 2008.
I like "Lost In This Moment" but it isn't typical Big & Rich. It was definitely a song that was released at the right time, they wanted it to peak during wedding season and it turned into one of the biggest hits of 2007. Lots of high ranks here but this one was sunk by the 5 rankings in the 20's and 30's.

#3. "Wild West Show"
Total Points: 152 Average: 10.1 Year Released: December 15th, 2003 Radio & Records Peak: #20 Billboard Peak: #21 Rankings:LBTrocks - 2 sabre14 - 2 zack97 - 3 ClevelandRox - 4 tim - 4 bboat11 - 6 ChicaCherry콜라 - 8 kw9461 - 8 castleoblivion26 - 9 phil1996 - 10 zaclord 🌈 - 12 Kanenrá:ke - 13 gonecountry - 16 George Strait Junkie - 25 .indulgecountry - 30 "Wild West Show" was the debut single for Big & Rich off their debut album, Horse of a Different Color in December of 2003. It peaked at #20 on R&R in April of 2004. The song was written by John Rich, Big Kenny and Blair Daly. The video is off their Super Galactic Fan Pak DVD, which was released in 2005.
The first time I heard this song on the radio in early 2004, I was like "who is this?!...it's amazing!". The production, instrumentation, melody and lyrics are all top notch and the imagery is a huge draw of the song. It's a shame that many casual fans have no idea this was their debut single -- so many people assume it's "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)".
No #1 rankings here but 10 of the 15 lists had this in their top 10.

#2. "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)"
Total Points: 143 Average: 9.5 Year Released: April 19th, 2004 Radio & Records Peak: #7 Billboard Peak: #11 Rankings:George Strait Junkie - 1 ChicaCherry콜라 - 2 gonecountry - 2 tim - 2 zaclord 🌈 - 2 Kanenrá:ke - 3 LBTrocks - 3 castleoblivion26 - 4 kw9461 - 4 sabre14 - 9 .indulgecountry - 10 ClevelandRox - 12 zack97 - 25 bboat11 - 28 phil1996 - 36 "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" was the second career single for Big & Rich off their debut album, Horse of a Different Color. It was released to country radio in April of 2004 and peaked at #7 on R&R in August. It only got to #11 on Billboard, mainly because of a few songs that were recurrent on R&R already but hadn't fallen below the top 10 yet on Billboard. The song was written by John Rich and Big Kenny. The song would go on to become Big & Rich's most defining hit, selling over 2.0 million copies, along with being used in TV shows, award shows and commercials. The music video features Gretchen Wilson, Cowboy Troy and Two Foot Fred (MuzikMafia).
The song also has a remix version, included on Big 7 Rich's Super Galactic Fan Pak, which was the version performed on the 2005 CMT Awards.
Kenny and John said they got the idea for "Save a Horse" when a mutual friend came back one night to their place and mentioned a story of a guy who tried to use a pickup line on her, "hey girl who don't you save a horse and ride a cowboy?"...she was amazed someone had the nerve to say it but John and Kenny immediately thought it was a song title.
Fun song, that never seems to get old...I'm sure it does for some but not for me lol. My station still plays the song and we have a stringent playlist. It never even got to the top 5 but many stations still play this one and its definitely one of the most well-known country singles of the 2000's. It's polarizing but the ones that like it, love it, which helped it.

#1. "Holy Water"
Total Points: 114 Average: 7.6 Year Released: September 20th, 2004 Radio & Records Peak: #12 Billboard Peak: #15 Rankings:bboat11 - 1 castleoblivion26 - 1 kw9461 - 1 sabre14 - 1 phil1996 - 2 zack97 - 2 ChicaCherry콜라 - 4 Kanenrá:ke - 4 zaclord 🌈 - 4 tim - 7 George Strait Junkie - 13 LBTrocks - 14 ClevelandRox - 18 gonecountry - 19 .indulgecountry - 23 "Holy Water" was the third single off Big & Rich's debut album, Horse of a Different Color. It was released to country radio in September of 2004 and peaked at #12 on R&R in January of 2005. The song was written by John Rich, Big Kenny, Vicky McGehee and Gerry Cohen. The song was written to bring awareness to domestic abuse, which both Big Kenny and John Rich's sister had been victims of in a past relationship. The music video was directed with Deaton-Flanigen.
This has gradually become my favorite Big & Rich song. It's so well-written in its lyrical content and instrumentation. The melody is also strong and fits its lyrics. My older sister was in a very abusive relationship when I was a kid and I remember how much pain that caused her and our family. I know this song is something she finds uplifting. It's not remembered as Big & Rich's biggest or most well-known hit but it's without a doubt one of the best songs they've ever written. This was #1 in the submission process for nearly the entire way. Four people had this as their #1 and 10 total had it in their top 10, with 9 of them in the top 4.
Thanks to everyone for playing along! :)

YESSSSS, "Holy Water" is the best song they have ever done, by a HUGE landslide. I do enjoy "Save A Horse" as well, but it would have had no business joining the elite crowd of rankdown winners... It is a novelty song through and through, and it has been tired since about 2004... "Holy Water" has such a crisp and fresh production job behind it, in addition to just plain being a great song. Like, I cannot get enough of that sweeping cello fall halfway through the intro

Also, I just have to say that "Wild West Show" is ludicrously underrated!!!! That song slays so much!!!! I always forget how much I love it, but then when I hear it I am immediately reminded of just why I think it is such a jam. Such a catchy, awesome introduction to this duo SO glad it made the top 3!!!! Usually "forgotten" debut singles don't do nearly that well in rankdowns.
