Top 2003-2009 Rock Songs on Spotify
This is the second rankdown of the series and follow up to the 1997-2002 Rock Streaming Hits Rankdown, ranking the 40 most streamed rock songs on Spotify released between 2003 and 2009, with a limit of one song per artist.
These songs range from 180 million to 643 million streams and cover a period when nu-metal declined, pop-punk took on emo influences and indie rock grew in popularity.
Seven of these songs fell short of the Hot 100 entirely, fourteen were top 10 hits, eighteen made the Year End Hot 100 and five made the Year End Hot 100 top 10.
The deadline for now is May 16, 2019 at noon EST. Just send me your list numbered from 1 to 40 (best to worst).
3 Doors Down - Here Without You Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent Band of Horses - The Funeral Blink-182 - I Miss You Breaking Benjamin - The Diary of Jane Cage The Elephant - Ain't No Rest for the Wicked Coldplay - Viva La Vida Evanescence - Bring Me To Life Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over Foo Fighters - The Pretender Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out The Fray - How To Save A Life Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. I'll edit the OP when I'll be taking submissions, for now I just want to open up a few songs for a vote regarding whether they belong in a rock rankdown.
Although I am trying to include a diverse set of songs including some soft rock, those four songs do have rather soft vocals and some just have acoustic guitar with some subdued drums. Don't vote according to whether you like them, but whether you think they belong in this rankdown. Also I do plan on having additional rankdowns for less streamed songs from 1997-2009 so don't worry too much about songs that are being left off to make way for these.

Yes to Jack Johnson, No to Plain White T's, James Blunt and Train.
I would also definitely say no to "How to Save a Life", if I'm taking a look at the entire playlist.

I voted no to all except Train. Train has a rock vibe. At least their older songs did.
On the other hand I wouldn't mind those other songs showing up because it gives me something to tank.

A song like "Meet Virginia" from their 1998 album would be a totally legitimate inclusion in a rock rankdown, but "Hey, Soul Sister" is trickier. Hey There Delilah might be the least rock song to me, even though most of the rest of that album of theirs would be fine.

Doc Indie Party Rock - I was going to tank "Hey Soul Sister" but looks like it's a resounding "no" for it so I'll have to give my #40 to something else.

I think HTD is the only one that made a YE Rock chart lol, so none of the others should be there. Also you should include 1901

Also you should include 1901 I'll wait for a few more votes before finalizing the list, but so far looks like You're Beautiful and Hey, Soul Sister are the only ones people don't want and will get replaced by B.Y.O.B. and Duality. The others were voted to be kept by a pretty strong majority. 1901 doesn't have nearly enough streams, although it's still a good song so I'm hoping to include it in rankdown #4 of this series if I still have the motivation to make it there.

You don't think SWBL is rock enough? The cut-off for this rankdown is higher than for the last since there's an extra year and newer songs tend to have more streams, the most streamed song that missed the cut-off has 179m Spotify streams.

You don't think SWBL is rock enough? imo it's not rock at all lol, it's more a pop ballad. Harder To Breathe in the other hand...

Just include them all and the crybabies can tank them. (I plan on tanking a few of theirs myself after last rankdown).

Although it's probably their most pop leaning song from that album, I'm still going to include it. It still feels like it's performed by a rock band, imo it is no less rock than any of the songs that passed on the poll and is from an album that is predominantly rock. If Hey There Delilah got voted in, SWBL is in too.

Eh, the poll's turned me off. Ofcourse half are going to vote no to anything not active rock. I don't think I'll be participating. Can't please everyone? After starting the last rankdown I got some feedback that some of the songs included weren't rock and I have to admit I wasn't entirely consistent with what I included. Based off how pop leaning some of those songs were, I could have included pretty much any pop song with live instrumentation. The songs I put in the poll were songs I was already strongly considering excluding and just wanted to see if others agreed. There's a couple songs that aren't on the preliminary list that I kind of forgot about since they weren't by rock bands or songs that charted on rock radio that I'm revisiting and might add at the expensive of some of the least songs currently in. I just relisted to Since U Been Gone to see if it's as rock leaning as I remembered and even though it didn't chart on rock radio, based off how it sounds, I see no reason not to include it. Party In The USA has some rock-like elements with the vocal style and instrumentation on the verses but the instrumentals on the chorus are too electronic so I think I'll classify it as power-pop. edit: Also Break-Even seems fine to include too.

I'm surprised "Float On" did not get enough streams to make the cut.
