When is the new Taylor making a comeback? The old Taylor proved to be trash.

Don't forget this is Taylor's first single after she officially signed with Republic, they cannot let this fail.

Don't forget this is Taylor's first single after she officially signed with Republic, they cannot let this fail. That’s very true, there’s no way they can drop the ball on the first record. I also kinda wonder how much less Republic is making on her music compared to Big Machine since you know she probably got some insane contract where the majority of the profits go directly into her pocket now.

This is basically why I said in my last post that I don’t see them pulling this just now, waiting until the end of the month or very early July. There’s a stamp on July 12th which is on a Friday. I think that’s when the second single is gonna come out.
There’s also a stamp on August 30th which I believe will be the album release date.

But is trying to keep this going going to accomplish anything other than ruining good will with radio and the GP for her next single? IMO ME! is already a write-off, they should focus on making sure the next song is better and saving promo slots and radio good will to promote it instead. Having her first single be an under-performance might be a bit embarrassing for Republic (although if they cared so much why did they let her release it as the lead?), but as long as the rest of the album does well they can salvage this.

I don’t see the song dropping after a big gain like that. It seems they are just going to let it go until it is done. The comparison between Taylor and Ariana who are both have different career paths at the moment. Taylor needs hits at the moment after the underperformance of her singles last era. Ariana is coming off her biggest era in her career. Ariana’s next lead single will have lots of hype guaranteed. Now back to Taylor, every artist has used payola to get up the charts. This is not Taylor’s fault at all. There is a Secret Show in NYC next month where Taylor is rumored to be performing new songs.

Taylor has much more to lose if they shove this down people's throats. I really don't think this is getting payola but we will see.

Heard a new version on my local station that completely cuts out the bridge/spelling part Maybe radio got serviced this version and is trying it out for a bit to see if it clicks??? She is a Top 40 staple and her voice is familiar so maybe they want to give it another chance and see if the reaction is better??

This is a strange thought perhaps but I’ve wondered if it’s possible that record label people and even artists ever check out specific message boards like Pulse to see responses to new songs to help with decision making. Do you think it’s possible that the overwhelming negative response to the “spelling is fun” part for example may have influenced them.

I can't remember which DJ it was....Avicii, Zedd, Calvin Harris, Diplo, but not too long ago they used a screencap of Kworb as a receipt on Twitter. That struck close to home, lol. There are industry insiders on ATRL.

Do you think it’s possible that the overwhelming negative response to the “spelling is fun” part for example may have influenced them. Didn't Bebe Rexha have a tab open on popjustice on some screenshot? I think she also had a tab on kworb, I've seen evidence of multiple artists using that site. Also lots of smaller artists have done AMAs on r/popheads including Carly, Bebe, Janelle, Charli... and The Chainsmomers post on their subreddit and popheads pretty regularly. Taylor pays attention to feedback too but it seems it's more on tumblr/insta/twitter/youtube. The feedback on "spelling is fun" and "can't spell awesome without me" was the same everywhere though.

Au$tin, can you tell us the collabs in the Ed album, Taylor’s second single and when Adele will drop something?

Yeah, hello, I'm one of them. Didn't y'all get that memo from the Never Really Over thread?
(But actually for a brief time last year I did qualify as one as I was interning at a record label.)

Oh yeah, the Priory song!! It’s called “Weekend” or “The Weekend”, right? I wasn’t following exact radio numbers at the time, mainly just my local station’s playlist & the Billboard Top 40, but I remember seeing it and going “tf?” It was a catchy song, but weird ass promo. I’m interesting in digging back to read those threads now

She should drop a good promo single soon to build hype for the 2nd single release in late June/early July.
