So weird how Truth Hurts is #2 at Pop radio, but still #13 at Urban radio. You'd think it'd be the exact opposite. You would think it would be the opposite but I think it speaks to how Lizzo’s comeup has been so far. I feel that she’s not getting much support from the black community as some newer artists recently like Megan. It seems that she has more of the soccer mom type fanbase which would explain why her album and songs are doing so well on iTunes, since thats kind of unusual for artists with an urban fanbase. I dont know if its bc of her personality or bc of how pop leaning her music is but yea its weird. I don't know, I feel like it took a while for Rihanna to be really accepted by the black community as well. At least until 2012, maybe post-Pour Up. I don't remember her being well respected in the days of Good Girl Gone Bad and Loud, but I'm not entirely sure.

^Lover finally appeared this weekend on kworb's radio daily update. It entered the top 40 format at #49 and AC at #50 according to Mediabase. I know it gets radio play, but I don't the label gave it a specific adds date yet? It's been <600 plays for 2 weeks

White people are the majority supporters of EVERY genre, including typically blackity black genres like rap and r&b, which shouldn't be surprising since they're indeed the majority. Lizzo has black fans. I just think in recent months, she's seen more of an influx of white soccer mom supporters who make up a huge amount of Adele's fanbase. She's got the big girl audience support on lock. I'm definitely not surprised that pop radio is eating up her music. I fully expect Lizzo to lean even harder into her pop influences on her next album seeing as it's what's finally taken her career off the ground. Her debut album was basically a rap album and that did nothing for her mainstream aspirations. Her career didn't start taking off till she started leaking into being more of a singer than a rapper on her sophomore effort and on her latest album, she leaned fully jnto these big anthemic pop-esque songs and now she's finally arrived. "Blackity Black genres..."What?Also, no. White people aren't the "majority supporters" of every genre. Moreover, since when have White people been the "majority supporters" of R&B music in any capacity? Whether it's the traditional/classicist orientated Rhythm & Blues of the 1970's/1980's, or the Hip-Hop driven Contemporary R&B of the 1990's/2000's and the more Indie-R&B of the 2010's? White people aren't sprinting in spades to purchase albums released by Adult-R&B acts ala. Fantasia, Ledisi, Chante Moore, Tank, Raheem DeVaughan, Raphael Saadiq etc. - artists of whom have even struggled to receive playlisting from Mainstream Urban radio stations the past five to ten years. I use "blackity black" in casual conversation all the time with my friends. I also say things like "yuppity yup" instead of just saying "yup." It's just how I talk sometimes. Sorry if it took you off guard, but it's really not that serious. And also, you're referring to adult R&B, which is more niche. I attend A LOT of concerts with friends and I'm telling you, in recent years, I've seen more and more white people in concerts than black people. Even R&B concerts. I remember seeing Leon Bridges live and right before he performed Brown Skin Girl (a song off his debut album), he made this light-hearted remark about seeing a lot more white faces than black faces out in the crowd and he said he felt kinda weird performing that song for predominantly white women. He's said that in the 4 shows of his I've attended and he's also said it in an interview so it's obviously something that bothers him. I went to see Miguel when he was on tour with dvsn and most of the crowd were white people. Noname has spoken about this, too. About how she writes songs for and about black women and how when she started touring properly, she was surprised to realize that most of the people coming out to her shows were white women. Also, support doesn't just have to mean buying albums and getting radio support. First off, no one really buys albums anymore and a label that does it's job well will get their artist radio airplay. I attend a lot of concerts and festivals and I can tell you first hand that whether I'm checking out a rock band, an alternative band, an R&B duo or a rap group, it's ALWAYS a lot of white people in the crowd. On the flip side, though, when I saw Paramore in Toronto a couple of months ago, almost everyone in there was black. Paramore have a lot of black fans for some reason. In the past few years, I've seen Maxwell, Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott in concert and I was one of the few black people in those crowds. It's just something I've noticed and obviously, most black artists have noticed it, too.

In the early years of her career, Rihanna's fans were mostly Europeans or American caucasians. lol. I remember reading an old interview where she spoke about it. And you're right, the black community was very late to embrace Rihanna. Only someone who has watched her career closely would know this.

What I learned in boating school is... blackity, blackity, black! Why are you all making a big deal out of what I said? I'm a black person and I say that all the time in casual conversation. Rap and R&B are still genres that are made of mostly black acts. The two genres we still have which white artists haven't completely taken over yet. And that's why I said that. But of course, you guys completely disregarded the rest of my post to express faux anger, as usual. Lmao. Complain all you want, but my post, the one you decided to single out for some reason when four other people also commented on it, was not an attack at you nor does it express anger of any kind. I found the word choice funny. That's all. You might want to direct your anger towards one of the other posts that actually did indeed comment on the rest of your post, which is something you complained about not happening.

And you could have simply expressed that or asked why I used that phrase. How else am I meant to take not just your quote but the picture you used? You were trying to mock me/what I said. You probably thought I was a white person and that's why you jumped off the deep end by using a picture that portrays a Caucasian cartoon character. Also, I responded to the font who responded to the rest of my quote. I'm also not angry. I was actually laughing when I saw the quotes on my post because everyone is sensitive about race talk on here and everyone took an issue with what I said because they probably thought I was a white person.

It was a joke. Your race never even crossed my mind. Why are you assuming such terrible things off of a simple SpongeBob reference? I'm sorry you got offended with my post, but it was by no means malicious. Contrary to what you may believe, I don't hate you, nor am I out to just pick fights with you. You seem to be under the impression of the opposite. Also, that is a fish. It doesn't have a race.

I'm not angry, you don't have to apologize for anything and when I quoted you the first time, I wasn't angry either, but you responded to me like I was picking on you in particular when I wasn't. I actually just wanted to use me quoting you to express my feelings about why everyone was making a big deal out of what I said. It's cool.

I didn't think this joke needed to be explained, but for those who need it explained.
-"blackity black" is close to "blankety blank" -In an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, one of the characters says "blankety blank." -The image is of the character that said it.
This is literally one of the shallowest jokes to ever exist. The humor is literally face value. There's nothing else to it. You have to actually looking to be offended to find something offensive about it.
Now, this has absolutely zilch to do with the Hot 100. It was never meant to be more than one slightly humorous post. Can we please move on and stop acting like aliens that have never encountered humor before?

Au$tin it's cool. You made a joke. A joke I took in poor taste. Let's move on before people say we're derailing the thread. Also, just in case you were wondering how/why I didn't "get" your joke. You made a joke that referenced a line used by a character on a show that I don't watch. I've never watched an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants in my life. I only know and can identity SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick and Mr. Krabs because of how pictures of them are used as memes online. I googled the show just now to find out that it has aired 247 episodes and has been running since 1999. I've never seen a single one of those episodes. I didn't even care that you using that picture and making that reference might have been racially motivated, but it was definitely the first thing I noticed out of every other person who quoted me. I just thought it was weird because you used that picture and referenced that phrase I used, but didn't know the phrase I used was similar to one used by the character's picture you posted. A case of a simple misunderstanding.

Might be talking too soon, but I don't see a top 10 debut for Circles (which shouldn't matter because it'll for sure blast into the top 10 the week the album drops). Otherwise, I think Circles is my favorite single from Posty's album so far. It goes: Circles, Sunflower, Wow. and Goodbyes in order of my favorites. Seems like I'll be eating these words. Circles has done really well in it's first few days. No way it doesn't debut in the top 10.

It's borderline top ten perhaps... it gets maybe 25M streams this week from audio side (dunno about Youtube but the proper video is not out yet so not sure if that adds much) and then perhaps 25-27k sales and some airplay.
Last week Lover was #2 on streaming with 21.8M and it is not going to reach top ten according to Simm's predictions so maybe #7-10 for Circles?

Even a #10 debut counts as a top 10 debut. I'm hoping Money in the Graves returns to the top 10 for one more week, though. It deserves. I'm also guessing Circles rises to #1 the week the album debuts. Especially if he drops a video on Friday.

Anybody know how Meghan Trainor's "With You" is doing?
She sounds SO good on this track, her vocals fit in with EDM so well
And I love the song's message about being fearless and independent from a relationship where someone is bringing them down

Nowhere to be seen on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube.
