I'm just gonna start again from the beginning, since the only two reveals seemed to have a bit of confusion about wrong ranks and stuff.

Bowing out first, we say goodbye to "Vacation", as we all already been knew. This song has a really laid-back, easy-going, yet also strangely discordant melody. I am not surprised to see it in last place. The paddle-boarding being fly-fishing for sharks moment was kinda clever, but otherwise this song lacks a lot of the catchy punch that has tended to characterize Sam's best material.

When I first saw the title, I thought "oh, ofcourse he wrote Vacation for Thomas Rhett 😂", then it was a different song entirely... not that this ended up being much better.

I'd honestly put this as my last place. This was one that always got skipped on that mixtape.

"Drinkin' Too Much" leaves in the penultimate position, this time hopefully with the ranks all sorted out after the confusion from maine and born last time it was revealed. This song was a really really weird song. It was written by Sam as an apology to his ex girlfriend (slash current fiancé?) after she felt like her privacy was invaded by the Montevallo album. (Montevallo was her hometown, several songs seemed to be about their relationship, etc. That's why he mentions things like apologizing for naming the album Montevallo, and apologizing that she can't listen to the radio anymore.) There is certainly nothing country about it, and it can hardly be classified as a "song". It is almost like slam poetry over a cheesy pop/hip hop backing track. Kinda surprised this one managed to not be last place!! I suppose the personal connection Sam has to this song gives it a convincing amount of passion that might help it to be well liked by some people. Or of course the alternative is seeing it like he is a crazy obsessive stalker... I'd say I fall somewhere in the middle on its content, but the melody or lack thereof really does it in.

"This Land Is Your Land" was really hard for me to rank, because on the one hand it is one of those songs that is SO classic and well-known that it can be seen as incredibly cliched and cheesy, a la "God Bless America", "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", etc. However, Sam turns in a really compelling vocal performance here! Like, it shows off his vocal talents in ways that lots of songs on this list do not. I expected to hate this, and instead walked away feeling really impressed!! Still not surprised to see this in the bottom 3 though, because of the song itself not being one that inspires a lot of passion in a modern society.

I'm honestly not sure what this song is doing in my top 10 Listening to it again now, it does have a somewhat catchy melody, but I probably over-ranked it. It's by no means among the worst on this list though, so I'm a little surprised to see it bottom 4!

Thank you for doing this. I kinda forgot about it a little bit and wasn't good at doing the tagging and making it look nice.

We got his tracklist today... I wasn't surprised at BLABR since the album is named Southside but HOW IN THE HELL did Drinkin' Too Much make it?

"Vandalizer" is a pretty good song. I can understand it being a little forgettable, but I think that comes down to the acoustic arrangement more than anything. Melodically, this is really strong, and the concept is pretty good. I am alright with the #19 placement though because this list is overall pretty strong.

Sooo, Sam's version of "I Met A Girl" is pretty terrible... Lmao This song is really sweet, and Sam's vocal performance is really tender and nuanced...until he suddenly starts talking in the chorus I honestly think the sung parts are better than William Michael Morgan's, but he completely takes you out of the song when he starts talking. I actually enjoyed his random talking in "Take Your Time" and "Break Up In A Small Town", but it actually enhanced those songs. This song was amazing, and then all of a sudden you're like wtf why is he talking now? Glad this managed to finish pretty close to the bottom 5...

I think "Speakers" is alright, but not great. There certainly are much better songs on the album, but I can certainly see why this one would be enjoyable for some. The rapid-fire delivery of the hook definitely is very unique!

"Bottle It Up" just sounds like a really classic Sam Hunt song to me. Like, it sounds like the perfect embodiment of everything that made him famous. It somehow fails to be much of a standout other than nailing the essence of his sound, so I am not surprised to see it out here.

"Downtown's Dead" is just a miss, imo. It has never been actively bad to me, but it has also not been actively good either. Just a very meh song. After the innovative feeling of his first several hits, this one really just feels like Sam going through the motions.
