Okay, "Goodbye" is a fantastic song!!!!! Out of all the songs on this mix tape that were not recorded and turned into hits by somebody else, this one is easily my favorite! That chorus melody is pure ear candy. And that dobro solo is beautiful and incredible It's hard to imagine a path for this one to get much further than this considering what is left, but I still wish it had been able to do a little better.

"We Are Tonight" has become one of my very favorite Billy Currington songs in recent years, so I may be a bit biased towards the song. Billy's version would have easily been my #1 in this rankdown... Lol. But Sam's is not quite as good, probably because it lacks a full arrangement. It's one of those songs that needs a full arrangement to reach its full potential, imo. Still, I'm glad to see this be one of our collective favorites from the mix tape :)

Much like "We Are Tonight" has become one of my favorite Billy Currington songs, "Come Over" is also in the running for being my favorite Kenny Chesney song! I absolutely love the melody to this one, and I think Kenny absolutely nails it!!! Sam's version slays too I wish it would have been able to make the top 10, but we are nearing the region of his more iconic hits now, so I guess it's probably impressive that an acoustic songwriters cut was able to get as far as it did! @xfer sees our first #1 loss, but like I said, he is about to be joined by multiple others

Okay, I've gotta apologize to the #1 rankers for this one, because listening to it again now I think I underranked this by at least a few positions... The arrangement is very interesting for this one. Just when you think it has nothing country going for it whatsoever, with that very blatantly un-country synth melody that kicks off from the very beginning of the song, you notice the fact that there is very blatant steel guitar backing up the countermelody in the chorus, and for the entire fadeout of the song. Definitely one of the most intriguing listens in this list!!

I remember that you guys never liked “Single For The Summer”. It’s such a smash imo. “Come Over” & “Downtown’s Dead” are also bops :)
Edit: You missed my perfect ranking for “Vandalizer”. Is that your way of telling me you hate me bee bee boat eleven?

Wow @ "Single for the Summer" making it this far - I love that song so I'm glad it came this far. I was somehow under the impression that people didn't like this song.

It's cause your name is so much longer than the other perfect rankers, so I guess when I was highlighting the perfect ranks yours managed to escape the periphery of my field of vision 😂

I love "Single For The Summer". I think it was probably between that one and "Break Up In A Small Town" for the fourth single, and I get why they went with BUIAST, but I would've been really happy with SFTS too. I wish it had made the top 10 here.

Oh, 3 perfect rankings in a row!! So unheard of for me lol
That said, I can't believe Come Over didn't make at least the top 10. I know the Between The Pines' songs are the ugly sisters to Montevallo, but I was almost sure Come Over would be in the top 10.
Sad to see Vandalizer out as well, amazing song!

"Ex To See" is not my favorite production job from Sam, but you can't deny the clever double-entendre of the hook! #10 feels like about where I expected this one to finish.

"Body Like A Backroad" is such an atrocious song... Ugh. I finally lose my #23 here, and I regret none of it. There is literally nothing about this song that doesn't annoy me. The central simile is incredibly stupid, and not at all romantic or flattering. The off-beat "hey"s for the majority of the song are annoying. Instant station changer for its entire chart run, and has never even slightly grown on me, which is really rare for a song.

"Body Like a Backroad" is such a guilty pleasure! It's one of the songs that remind me of my study abroad (others include Calvin Harris' "Slide", Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times", Brett Young's "In Case You Didn't Know" among other songs) so there's that aspect too for me.

"Kinfolks" is a song that hasn't had much time to grow on me, but tbh it is sooooo bland to me that I can never remember even a tiny snippet of how it goes... Definitely did not belong in this top 10, imo. I was surprised by how much love it received, because it doesn't seem to be a Pulse favorite according to the single thread...

"Cop Car" is a fantastic song!! I like Keith Urban's better, tbh it is easily my favorite Keith Urban song since the start of his electro-suck phase! I love it so much! Sam does a great job with it too. Could have been a huge hit for either of them. I think I just feel like Keith connected to the emotions in the song more. @xfer FINALLY loses his #23 here His was the last one.

"Break Up In A Small Town" is a song that I should hate. It's a song that most country fans should hate. But for some reason, the only country fan who actually dislikes it appears to be .indulgecountry, who is normally the first one to support terrible pop songs! Seriously, something about this melody is just so insanely catchy, I never even got slightly sick of this one despite its overplay on the radio. I'm impressed to see how well it was able to finish here!
