Idk why people think "Crash Here Tonight" is boring. It's absolutely gorgeous and one of his best songs easily imo. I don't understand how this is out before so many legitimately awful songs but okay.

Bye bye, baby, I'm leaving. You can keep your mansion and your money. Your boat and your Benz and your uptown friends, And your country club that ain't really country. I need a little down-home lovin', And a man ain't gonna get it up here. Hey, I'll find what I want in a honky tonk. I like girls that drink beer.

Damn, this deserved better too. "I Like Girls That Drink Beer" has such a fun old-school country melody and I love the lyrics, especially the "your country club that ain't really country" line because that is so clever.

"I Like Girls That Drink Beer" simply.... exists. I wouldn't necessarily turn if off but I would never seek it out either.

I think "I Like Girls That Drink Beer" is REALLY catchy... Lol. This is one of his most underrated uptempos, imo. Had this been released an album era or two earlier, I think it would have been a smash Top 10 hit. This is one of those songs you would really think is going to be stupid based on the title, but in classic Toby fashion, he manages to make the hook way better than you expect! "I Like Girls That Drink Beer" being a backhanded way of telling your rich girlfriend you're breaking up with her is WAY more clever than a song about a guy who likes girls who drink beer... Lmao

Up next, the first ACTUAL Toby Keith-led top 10 hit leaves the rankdown!! In fact, this will be the first HUGE hit to leave us (peaked at #2!) Somebody else will also join .indulgecountry in the top 10 losses club.

For some reason "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" has always had something that rubs me the wrong way. The arrangement is super catchy and Toby sounds great, plus the topic of men getting screwed in divorces makes for a very interesting song! I think it's the melody that hits me weird? The whole "I'm laughing through my tears" segment is very repetitive and fairly a-melodic. kw9461 becomes the second person to lose a top 10 rank. gardyfan finally loses his last place, after the disappointment of seeing it escape the bottom 10!

Red solo cup, you're more than just plastic. You're more than amazing, you're more than fantastic. And believe me that I'm not the least bit sarcastic When I look at you and say Red solo cup, you're not just a cup. (No, no, God no) You're my f-, you're my friend. "Red Solo Cup" is THAT song... The song that is SO awful that it is either the worst song or the best song... For most of us, it fell on the "awful" side.
But, like, you can't help but admire the moxie behind this song? It is SUCH a horrible song, but it is obviously not meant to be taken seriously, and in a way it helped Toby to go viral to go one last time in a time when he was about ready to fade into obscurity. It is not a surprise to me it was able to escape the bottom 10. However, I am also ready for it to gtfo, so goodbye.

It's been years since I remember seeing it so I don't remember and can't find anything about it. EDIT: I found it. He doesn't say regrets it but he is pretty adamant about it here: www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-2002-01-18-0201160752-story.html"I'm free to do anything I want as long as I'm singing it and it's in my style," he says. "I tried to compromise once with that Sting duet [1997's I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying]. I said never again. I'll go down in flames, but I'll be me going down."

"Drinks After Work" is one I have never been able to get into. The "We made it to the middle of the week" and "Watch the good times get a little better" lines in the chorus just have such a weird, jarring chord resolution to them that I have never been able to get used to. Otherwise this song has a lot of catchy moments, such as the guitar riff that is very reminiscent of Smashmouth's "All Star". I can see why others like this song, but for me he has WAY better.

Yea, I'm in love with a girl in a 4 wheel drive. Chrome steel bumpers and red step side. She has a large time in a large machine. Man, I wonder how she gets up in that thing. Cast a big showdow, sitting in the sun. She's got it revved up, rockin', ready to run. And someday soon, I'm gonna climb right up And take a little ride in her big ol' truck.

"Big Ol' Truck" is awesome, but tbh it has been wearing on me much more lately than any of his other '90s uptempos. That seems to be the case for the majority of us, because it is the first of his famous '90s uptempos to leave us.
I know many of you won't agree with me, but so far most of the weaker songs have been done away with! I am definitely approaching the point in the rankdown where reveals are going to be more painful!

Crash Here Tonight Is one of the best and most beautiful Toby Keith songs. I know I didn’t send my list and I don’t have the right to complain but this song deserved much better than bottom 10. Melody is gentle and beautiful and instrumentation is great (especially steel guitar <3) and I also really like the video.

Rounding out the bottom 10, we say goodbye to the newest song in this rankdown! "Don't Let The Old Man In" is a great song, but tbh it is hard to compare it to most of Toby's career. First of all, his vocals sound oddly weathered and quiet here. I don't necessarily dislike that, but it is odd compared to the powerful performances we are used to on other ballads such as "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This" and "Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You". www.billboard.com/amp/articles/news/8490429/toby-keith-clint-eastwood-inspired-dont-let-the-old-man-in-the-mule-interview(I am not that interested in his discography to send a list for this but just want to share this background info)

Red Solo Cup should not have gone past #60, on the rankdown or the charts what an utterly terrible song. Like castleoblivion26, I can't properly describe the level of disgust this song brings me.

I always forget how much I enjoy “Get My Drink On” until I hear it and can’t help but to get my jam on. It’s an often overlooked song of his so wasn’t expecting it to do much better than where it came out at. I'm rather neutral about “Beautiful Stranger” and it definitely isn't something I reach for when I want to put on some Toby...I just have no real desire to revisit this song at all. “Crash Here Tonight” is a song unlike most others in his repertoire as you won’t find him singing these kind of romantic ballads much. Again while I do enjoy this one Toby is the last artist I think of when I’m reaching for a love ballad. My biggest question is how did someone like Heather Locklear get involved in the video as his love interest?!? I just haven’t heard “Don’t Let the Old Man In" enough to rank it much higher than I did. I did appreciate the background provided by recordyear for it as I love to learn those little tidbits about songs. I’ve always quite enjoyed “I’m So Happy I Can’t Stop Crying” and remember it getting quite a bit of airplay during its run, although it has since gone on to be one of his often overlooked hits. This was also the song that Toby sang with Sting at the CMA’s in 1997. I wasn’t quite sure where to put “Red Solo Cup” but one thing I did know is that it would be somewhere in my bottom 5. Looking back I’d probably put “Mockingbird” in last place in lieu of this, but nonetheless I do feel like it overstayed its welcome. Believe it or not “Big Ol’ Truck” was one of my favorite re-discoveries from Toby’s discography. I don’t think it really clicked with me as a young teenager but I found that I quite enjoy it now.
