 Yea, I know everyone and their mother is opening a rankdown today. That's not going to stop me from throwing my next venture into the ring too. Coming off the smashing success of my first edition of the funk/disco RD series, it's time to return to the long-form Random Rock series. Some of you in the know may have seen the original version of this list and will notice some differences. Hopefully they all culminate to make an even better listening experience than its first version. Acquaint yourself with these songs thoroughly, then PM me your ranking of all of them from favorite (#1) to least favorite (#36). Leave the artist names in or not, either way is fine--and by this point I've learned that non-numbered lists are actually easier to insert, but I won't say you should or shouldn't number. After sending your list, you may make changes to your ranks as long as you do so before the deadline. Results are determined by adding up each person's ranks for each song; the song with the least points wins. Miserlou---Pulp Fiction, the sample used in The Black Eyed Peas "Pump It" Runaway---Theme song from Crime Story, a 1980s drama set in the 1960s Vehicle---Was used during a scene in Lock Up, a 1990s Sylvester Stallone/Donald Sutherland drama set in prison. To be fair, remember that the song was in it due to the Leonard Maltin review. |

Hi! this RD is currently due in 10 days. Still at 2 lists, which is not great pace even in comparison to the last Random Rock. I intend to wait as long I can until announcing an extension if there's a need for one. Main issue is, there's not a lot of space in the next couple weeks that I could move the deadline to cleanly with no fuss. So I'm really hoping I can get a satisfactory number of lists by the current deadline so those problems don't arise. |

The current deadline is 1 week away. Thank you to pm1230, House Of Fun, and Beno for bring the list count to 5. I would like to emphasize that, extension or not, if you inform me you are planning to submit, I will wait for you. I'm not in a rush to reveal until year-end rankdown season kicks into high gear. I'm also still looking to see if I can nab the participation of a select few who haven't posted in this thread, but who I know would enjoy this list. Like, say, Doc Indie Party Rock?  |

The current deadline is 4 days away. Thank you to BlurryFaceKyle, carrie, mamooshka, and Daryl for bringing the list count to 9. I'm pleased with how the turnout is growing, so if I extend, it'll be for the sake of getting everyone on board who wants on, rather than reaching a minimum number of lists. So, how long I let the submission process last is really just up to you guys; I welcome your feedback. |

Alright, so, after talking with a few interested posters, I've decided on a short extension that should give the people I'm concerned about enough time. This is the only extension I'll be handing out, which I consider a victory in the context of my past RDs which tend to go on forever with multiple extensions lol. Saturday, December 7, 11:59pm is the last day I'll be using the complete tag post, so you're back to having 4 days to submit. Again, I am willing to wait past this deadline, but I'll only be checking in on the users I know have been creating ballots (Geo, Lord, wheat, Brian, Red, peacebone, Doc, nickd). Thank you to American Idiot for bringing the list count to 10 (and ensuring every song has a top 18 ranking, heh) EDIT: and wheat's list raises the total to 11! |

So, I highly doubt anyone will, but here's one last reminder that you have 10 hours left to surprise me and randomly enter your list into the fray without warning. I am stunned--simply over the moon--that this rankdown turned out this successful! Rowell, Red, Newpower, and Nickd have all sent since the last tag, bringing the list count to 21. Also am anticipating one last list from Lordeftones; the submissions won't be officially closed until he submits, but I know he's working on it. I'm also obviously not revealing tonight, so there'll be a bit of a grace period in the early morning tomorrow |
