Wasnβt worried about βHigher Loveβ & βWhatβs Love Got To Do With Itβ. This is a much riskier choice. Weβll see.

I don't know how this is going to sound especially with the downtempo types of stuff he does because this will need to be done as a higher tempo track. There have been mellower treatments and remixes of this in the past, most notably by Frankie Knuckles with Eric Kupper for that posthumous Donna remix album. If they really want to release a new remix of this classic, they could just re-release the Ralphi Rosario & Erick Ibiza remix from 2018 which maintained the edge and grit of the original but modernized it enough. But I would be in favor of something previously unreleased be updated or fully produced and released instead since she has a massive amount of recorded material that has never had any sort of release. She has at least a dozen albums worth of material.

Didn't care for WLGTDWI at all. I don't think I much care for this trend for him. Higher Love was great because it was taking a never before released cover and putting a modern spin on it. This (and What's Love) is just essentially a remix with new vocals. Now if this were Donna Summer creating an original song with Kygo or covering a song she's never released a cover for, then that would be exciting.

"What's Love" and "Hot Stuff" are beloved classics that still sound timeless to this day, so pushing a remix of these songs is just a cheap way to feed on nostalgia (I like to call this trend the music equivalent of the Disney remakes). It's a shame Kygo has jumped on this trend recently, because his original work on "Firestone" and "Stole The Show" is really good.

Unless he plans on collaborating via seance...ain't gonna happen. Higher Love was cute but...he is too talented to keep recycling past hits like this, from the living or the dead. Play them during DJ sets and call it a day.

Being a HUGE Donna fan I'm kind of pumped! More so that it may get her more exposure if the remix is good. I don't usually love the new re workings of her past hits and I agree with other posters that he should have tried to get an unreleased track. (that may be me just being a huge fan too) lol

Totally agree, that, if possible, Kygo should have gone with an obscure Donna track/cover. If he had mixed one of Whitney's biggest hits, I don't think it wold have been as big, globally, as it was.

This isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be, but it's nothing special that I would come back to. But if it helps to introduce Donna's music to a new generation, I am all for that.
Re-release the Ralphi & Erick remix.

leon- unlike "Higher Love," this isn't an obscure Donna track, but rather one of her biggest hits, like "What's Love Got to Do..." Even if it were a new/obscure track, I don't think it would have the appeal of a "Higher Love." Donna was further away from her commercially successful period than Whitney when she passed.
Having said that, I do agree that it would be nice to expose the younger generation to Donna Summer, and if this does so in some way, that's a good thing.

I don't care for this all that much. There's parts I like. I actually when they change up her voice?? It doesn't sound all that different than other newer remixes of this song though. If I had to rank his 3 remixes of the Diva's I would say... Whitney Tina Donna

This isnβt the atrocity that I was fearing, but itβs basically just the original with some extra synths and vocal effects. Thereβs no reason to revisit this, and Kygo is above these repeated attempts to recapture the βHigher Loveβ lightning in a bottle.

This has been stuck in my head all day.
Iβm honestly loving this. If I heard this at a club, Iβd go nuts.
