What, in your opinion, was the peak year (or years) in terms of popularity and success for different popular musicians? I'm talking in terms of chart success, sales, overall "bigness", that stuff.

I don't know the specific years but:
Taylor Swift - that year after 1989 dropped. I remember constantly reading even about her guests on her Tour.
Britney's commercial peak was probably 1999, with her huge album sales; but her popularity peak, for better or worse, was the Blackout year, when she shave her head and all that.
Justin Timberlake peaked that year when he dropped "SexyBack". That entire era was huge for him.

Olivia had 2 #1 hits in 1974 with I Honestly Love You and Have You Never Been Mellow. She was also a part of the Grease movie in 1979 and sang the duet with John Travolta for the #1 hit Your The One That I Want, also another duet for Summer Nights that went top 10. She also had a #1 solo hit from Grease with Hopelessly Devoted To You.Yes she had the #1 song of the year in 1982 for Physical but that was at the end of her career. I would say her career peaked in 1979.

I'm not sure if Christina's peak year was 2000 or 2003. She seemed to be way more massive in 03 to me than she was in 00, though her singles and debut album obviously faired better in 00. However, in 03 she hosted the EMA's, performed 2x at the VMA's, had various levels of success with Beautiful, Fighter, and Can't Hold Us Down, plus Stripped the album and tour were very popular and three grammy nominations announced that year (4 if you want to count Linda's SOTY nom).
Britney, I can't pick. She was just absolutely huge from 99-04 imo, so can those years all just be lumped together haha?
I think Toni Braxton peaked in 1996 not 1997. Un-Break My Heart initially hit #1 in late 1996, after already hitting #1 earlier that year with the album's lead single. The album was released in June 1996. She received her grammy noms in 1996 and then won two of those a few months later in early 1997.
I didn't see Kelly Clarkson on here yet, but definitely 2005.

Blinding Lights is still in the top 5, and βSave Your Tearsβ is right behind. And he performed at the Super Bowl. His latest album has had much more longevity than BBTM in 2015. Although I agree CFMF/The Hills was a greater 1-2 punch but I still feel like he wasnβt a household name up until late 2015. I would move Beyonce to 2009. Right after she dropped βI Am...Sasha Fierceβ in late 2008, she was everywhere. βSingle Ladiesβ was a sensation well into 2009, then she hit with βHaloβ and βSweet Dreamsβ which were huge worldwide hits. She had a huge tour, 2 Gaga duets, and endorsements all over the place. Gaga is a tough one, Iβm not sure if Iβd put her in 2009 or 2010. She had more singles during 2009, but her peak and Gaga-mania started in late 2009 after she dropped BR which technically peaked in the first couple months of 2010, while she was on a massive tour that continued until late 2010, Telephone video being a sensation, Alejandro, the meat dress etc. I think I would say her peak was 2010. Bruno Mars Iβm not so sure? He felt bigger in 2017 as a presence even though the hits off his debut album were bigger. The other ones I can agree with. Katy Perry in 2011 seems right considering the biggest hits on the album were singles 3 and 4. Then she went on a long tour.

Not only was he absolutely huge that year (two #1 hits and a top 5 hit to boot), but this was the year where he made his big pivot into retro styles. 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2017 are all good options, though (as would 2015 if Uptown Funk wasn't his only hit that year).

I canβt pick: BeyoncΓ© - 2003 or 2009? Bruno Mars - 2011, 2013 or 2017? Imagine Dragons - 2013 or 2017? Pink - I really donβt know. Her success was very constant between 2000 and 2013. Rihanna - 2008 or 2011? Shakira - 2002 or 2006? Shawn Mendes - Between 2016 and 2019? The Weeknd - 2015 or 2020?

Totally disagree with you about Olivia Newton John. Yeah I kinda agree with you But Olivia Newton-John has a career that has been in many fields,so it is hard to just put in one year. So I think I could classify as below. 1974:Country Career Peak (Olivia received an award for Female Vocalist of the Year from CMA) 1976:Asia Career Peak(Olivia was huge in Japan at that time,Come on Over sold over 400,000) 1979:Overall and Movie Career peak(Grease) 1982:Reached a new level of fame and brought familiar to a whole new audience(Physical) Olivia was famous throughout the whole 70s with a little downslide in the mid-70s but able to bounce back with Grease I'd say Physical the monstrous hit used up her good fortune in the 80s and with Madonna,Cyndi,Whiteny,Janet come up,she and other 70s divas would have to make way for them. PS:Hopelessly Devoted To You only made it into top 3 in US.And at that time she also had Summer Nights in top 5.

It's debatable but Taylor reached a whole new level of popularity in 2023, the tour, Cruel Summer, 5 albums in the top 10 at the same time, her relationship with Travis Kelce etc.

I'd have to go with 2023. Don't get me wrong, she was huge in 2015, but in 2023 she was (and still is now at the beginning of 2024) inescapable.
