After a squeaker for #1 on last week’s HITS Top 50, the first chart of Q4 could be shaping up for a similar race. First-day sales and streams have MMG/Atlantic’s Meek Mill projecting to about 90k with his 18-track Expensive Pain project. Last week’s runner-up, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy (OVO/Republic), would need to fall by one-third to give Meek a path to #1 based on today’s projection. The real fight, however, may not come from a new release but from Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version), via Republic. Vinyl pre-orders are shipping for this week’s chart, along with signed CDs that were offered for 72 hours last week. While info is still forthcoming, a similar rollout was executed for Evermore’s vinyl just three months ago; the album soared back to #1 with over 200k in activity and set a single-week vinyl sales record for the modern era. Will Tay repeat this stunning performance? Stay tuned. Meek Mill (MMG/Atlantic) 85-95k total activity, 1-3k albums Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (Interscope/Columbia) 35-40k, 33-37k Lil Wayne & Rich The Kid (Republic) 12-15k, <1k We might add that Love for Sale, the re-teaming of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga on a set full of Cole Porter gems listed above, is the week's only release that makes us want to day-drink martinis. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=328538&title=NEW-RELEASES-%28WITH-EXTRA-OLIVES%2C-PLEASE%29

We all know Taylor being herself will pull every stunt possible for #1 this week so.
I'm surprised at the low Tony/Gaga numbers, given C2C did 130k~. I guess it does make sense as that whole older-aged, Barnes & Noble shopping, physical buying sector (the same type who would pull six figure numbers for Barbra Streisand/Susan Boyle/Michael Buble/etc) is a fraction of what it used to be.
Gaga has a rabid stanbase though so I'd still thought it would've pulled at least double this.

Rough for Tony and Gaga. Her first album to not debut at #1 since 2009.

Idk why anyone would expect Love For Sale to in any way match Cheek to Cheek. With C2C there was the novelty of it being a Gaga album that wasn’t from PopGa, so we all know what expect with L4S and it’s not likely all Gaga fans will buy into it. Plus, sales are lower now and I imagine a good chunk of C2C numbers were from sales. I doubt anything this jazzy would command a good amount of streams. Even with C2C opening with 130,000+, I remember that album coming with a lot more promo than this one seemed to have. I’d be curious to know what the label expected though but I don’t think 40k is THAT poor. I’d say C2C was spoiled as it was a Gaga album first, jazz album second. This one is probably just more realistic. 🤷♂️

LFS is one of the albums that will 'sell through' over time - it'll be more than a one-week thing. Not a big seller, but consistent. It just couldn't have been expected to even come close to C2C. No way. Maybe they'll do some vinyls - seems like a no-brainer. Probably a minor boost from the 60M interview tomorrow. Not sure of any other major promo since GaGa is going to be promoting her movie.
Should do major impact after the Grannys - no way Bennett doesn't get some nominations. If they somehow do a performance, it could be significant.

We all know Taylor being herself will pull #1 this week so. Yes, Taylor IS #1. Gaga's opening sales bigger than Bieber, in the same range as Kanye.

Ngl I expected LFS to open at least with 50k. It still might though, but like said above, it's not a one-weeker in a large scale. There will be a Thanksgiving special and potentially some Grammy love. However Bennett is not allowed to perform any more (doctor's orders) so they won't do anything together. It depends on what Gaga wants to do herself around the album with House of Gucci and everything. She's been so busy lately.
Oh and that's awful numbers for Meek Mill considering the previous did twice as much.

Oh btw, no prediction for Brandi Carlile? Her previous one reached #5 after all, and she has three top ten albums.

I’d be surprised if it came anywhere close to the top ten tbh. Though her last one was #1 sales when it came out.

I'd say great sales for a jazz album, shouldn't be counted as a regular Gaga album. People should judge her selling power when she'll release her new album.

If she could sell this one even further, her power would be limitless :kii:

We suggested on Saturday that Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) could be a roadblock between the latest release from Drake or Meek Mill for the top of Friday’s HITS Top 50. It’s no longer a suggestion. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will easily take the #1 spot—and give Republic its 19th week at #1 so far this year. The only question now is how big will the number be? As of today, a total north of 130k has been reported, with most of those units coming from Swift’s online store. This week’s rollout is similar to what propelled Swift’s Evermore back to #1 earlier this year with more than 200k in total activity. Of that, 102k came from vinyl sales, setting the modern record by more than double. Will Fearless (Taylor’s Version) break 200k, and will Swift beat her own vinyl sales record? Never bet against Taylor Swift. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=328539&title=NEW-RELEASES-UPDATED%253A-TAY-ON-TOP

Most excellent for Swift's vinyl sales, pre-orders or not. Most vinyl albums do not sell that amount over months' time. Her selling power, oil conjunction with fan interest and dedication, is pretty astonishing, actually.
RE Love for Sale- as mentioned, it doesn't have the novelty of the first collaborative effort. The first album was also considered jazz, though the new one looks to be more so. Nonetheless, another top 10 effort for both. And it has the adult appeal which should result in some legs.

Yeah, as a hardcore Gaga fan I have very little interest in LFS, which seems just a pale re-tread of CTC (which itself I was only moderately interested in, willing to give it no more than a couple listens). And as such, I wouldn't expect this to have any legs, given this concept is no longer uncharted territory for her or Bennett. That's usually what happens when artists release similar series like this, whether it's Rod Stewart with the Great American Songbook, or Barry Manilow with the Greatest Songs of the 50s/60s/70s, etc., they have diminishing returns each time, with the labels banking on formula to nab big first-week openings. But unfortunately in LFS's case, the opening will be dramatically less than CTC.

I love Gaga and I'm happy she's exploring a different side of her career, but I have zero interest on her stuff with Tony.

Brandi top ten? That would be epic! Especially if it means Morgan Wallen isn’t top 10. this would be Brandi’s fourth top 10 album, btw, but it does break her streak of each album peaking higher than the one before it: 80-41-26-10-9-5-?

^Her last album did debut at #5 in the Billboard 200 with 41k pure sales, 43k equivalent albums, while the one before did debut at #9 with the same number of equivalent albums (no pure sales where provided in the Chart Beat article). The latter and her newest albums faced tougher Billboard 200 top 10s than her former one. But the newer one should be commended if HITS' numbers pan out since they aren't that big a drop for an artist that relies on pure sales for her album's debut week numbers.

Not Lil Nas X’s album already being close to falling behind Doja Cat’s! I am genuinely surprised. The magazine covers, articles ,Twitter hype and the Elton John co sign just for it to be close to Planet Her already. Yeah, His label really needs to stage an intervention like Doja Cat’s label with the chat room controversies because he clearly is alienating the general listeners who got him in or be so successful in the first place
